Focuses for November

Focuses for November

Hi guys! I hope that you’re all having a beautiful weekend. ❀ Today, I have one of my usual beginning-of-the-month posts to share with you! This one will be slightly different than the ones I have done in the past, this time focusing more on what I mainly want to get done in the beautiful month of November. If you have written a post like this yourself recently, let me know in the comments below! I’d love to know what you’re up to this month. (: Without any further ado, let’s check this out!

Focuses for November

~ Practice the piano. I have been really into this recently, mastering scales and chords and becoming familiar with traditional Christmas songs (I can’t wait for December!). I’m also watching a 10-video series on YouTube called ‘How to Become a Pianist in Ten Lessons,’ and I really like how the guy who did the series teaches and explains concepts.

Main Things to Accomplish: Master the minor scales and chords, learn to play a few more Christmas songs, finish watching the 10-video series, print out helpful charts

~ Keep up with digital photos. I take and edit sooo many photos every week, and they quickly get backed up! While I enjoy going through them and organizing the folders, it’s tedious work. However, since I didn’t do anything with them in October, I’d like to catch up on that this month.

Main Things to Accomplish: Get pictures off phone, go through the photo folder that has all pics that need to be sorted, add to blog photo folders

~ Continue reading books that I own. I mentioned on a post back in October that I have multiple books on my bookshelf that I have yet to read or read a second time, and I really want to focus on reading those this month and into December, as well! They really are good books; libraries are just so distracting for me, haha.

Main Things to Accomplish: Read more Poirot short stories, decide on a few full-length books I want to read in November, donate any that I really don’t feel like reading anymore

~ Enjoy spending time with my family. We’ve really been enjoying playing games together, and I want to continue doing that throughout this month. ❀

Main Things to Accomplish: Play board/card games with Joshua and Samuel, find different fun activities to do with Samuel, continue having little photoshoot sessions

~ Work on my blogging schedule. This is a constant to-do and work-in-progress, haha, but it’s worth mentioning, anyway! For a while, I had certain types of posts I did on certain days of the week, but that has since faded away as I’ve started writing different kinds of posts. However, I’d love to see if I could develop a basic post schedule to stick to now (T.R. Noble has inspired me!). I already have some ideas, so we’ll see how that goes.

Main Things to Accomplish: Brainstorm posts for December, work on different inspirational pieces for November, get my blogging planner in order

~ Keep up with language-learning. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before, but I took a month-long break from learning Spanish in September because I truly needed it, and since then, I have been periodically keeping up with lessons and reviews. Right now, I’m deciding between which three languages I want to pursue, as you’ll see below. (:

Main Things to Accomplish: Master the basics of Brazilian Portuguese, catch up on Spanish review, learn the basics of French

Thank you so much for reading! I am so excited about what I’ll be focusing on this November – it’s going to be a great month. ❀ I hope that you guys have a beautiful November, as well! Have a great week!

How about you?

Little Accomplishments – August 25th, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Hi guys! Welcome to this week’s Little Accomplishments!

I hope that you’re all doing well, and that your weekend has gotten off to a beautiful start! So, did you guys know that next Friday is September 1st??!! I truly cannot figure out where in the world 2017 is speeding off to! I mean, why is it in such a hurry? Haha!!

Whether your year has been a whirlwind or it couldn’t be dragging any slower, I hope that everyone’s last week of August is a great one. xx

Oh, and I wanted to add something that I noticed on my dashboard this morning – this post makes my 200th post on this blog!! πŸ’– thank you guys so much for coming along with me this far ☺️

Alright, let’s jump right in to this Little Accomplishments! And as always …

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

These past couple of weeks, I …

  • learned the major piano chords. (Yas!!!! For some reason, this took me quite a bit of time to look up online and figure out, but once the light bulb in my head lit up, I had them memorized within two days! I’m so happy! Minor chords, here I come.)

  • caught up on Spanish. (As always. It’s essential, important, and considerably time-consuming, lol!)

  • began learning Portuguese. (WHAT?! Cool, huh? I want to know the basics of Portuguese because 1) I’m interested in learning the differences between this language and Spanish, 2) I love learning new languages, and 3) I’d love to have a basic understanding of it in the event that I meet someone who speaks it! For now, I’m learning Brazilian Portuguese, but I’d be all for learning Portugal Portuguese at some point, too.)
  • got back into the swing of blogging. (After my blogging break, then battling strep throat, it took me longer than I would have wanted to catch up on all things blogging, but I’m finally feeling on top of everything again! I have lots of different post ideas, I’m caught up on blog reading, I’ve interviewed some bloggers, and I have met some lovely new people, too!)
  • watched Finding Dory. (It was soooo sweet, guys! Finding Nemo was the first movie I really ever loved – little 4-year-old me was obsessed with it! – and the kid in me really approves of how they handled this sequel so many years later. It’s funny, the animation’s great, and Dory was fantastic. I love her character!)
  • finished reading The Merchant of Venice. (Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. The love stories were great, but the main plot dragged and also made me kind of nervous. lol!)
  • got a new app to track water intake. (I stopped using Plant Nanny a while ago because it wouldn’t let me customize how much water I needed daily; they gave me a set, unattainable goal based on height and weight. :/ However, I found a new water tracking app that I’m enjoying using right now called, simply, Water Tracker!)
  • organized my Goodreads shelves. (I love having a place to see what books I’ve loved reading, as well as books I’m looking forward to reading someday! Everything had gotten a bit jumbled, so cleaning out and organizing the digital shelves on my Goodreads account was something I’ve been needing to do for a while.)

Little Accomplishments – August 11th, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Welcome to this week’s Little Accomplishments!

Why hello there, everyone! My goodness, how in the world is it Friday again? πŸ˜‚ Does anyone have the answer? lol! πŸ’š Anyway I hope that you’re all doing well and are as excited as I am that the weekend has come back around for us to enjoy! πŸ˜€

I have been working on so many different things things recently. Those have mainly been music-, blog-, and organization-related, and as you all know I love those three things SO much, so life has been a blast!! After that bout of sickness my family and I went through, it has been a huge blessing to have an enjoyable week that was pretty much back to normal for us. Among the things I accomplished, I was able to do something I’ve never done before (it’s the second thing mentioned in the list below – check it out!), all of my 12th grade school subjects have been lots of fun and very educational (hush Maggie, your nerd is showing hahaha #homeschoolerforever), and … well, I’ll keep talking about how life has been for the rest of this post! I won’t continue to ramble on right here! πŸ˜‚πŸ’œ

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

This past week, I…

  • completed Spanish 5 on Memrise. (YAS! I’m always excited when I finish another level of these awesome language learning courses. Although I must say, I’m also sad because I’m getting ever closer to the end of these lessons! [By the way, I shared a picture of Spanish 6 below because I’m excited about learning that next.])

  • learned to play a song on the piano. (Guys. This is my most favorite accomplishment ever!! ❀ I looked up the piano chords to Jordan Feliz’s How Long [which has been my favorite song for months now] and, with the chords that I found, I was able to teach myself to play the tune and sing along with it, too! When I’m a bit more confident, I’d love to share a video playing it for you guys! That would be so cool!!)

  • went through my phone. (That means that I cleared off apps I’m not using, transferred all photos and videos … everything that monthly phone maintenance entails!)
  • tidied my room. (This includes dusting and cleaning my desk, dusting the piano keyboard [it needed it], and straightening everything on my bookshelf!)

  • went through the books on my bookshelf. (Special thanks to the pretty way I’ve arranged my books, this was hard to do, haha! But as shown in the picture of my room somewhere above, I found a way to make everything still pretty, even with some of the books missing. x I’m donating some, and others I’m keeping elsewhere because they’re more like reference books [baby names, tree reference guide, etc.].)
  • finished reading King John. (I mentioned this on my reading list post earlier this week, and I must say that I really enjoyed it! It’s definitely Shakespeare’s most underrated play. If you like reading Shakespeare, I’d recommend giving King John a try!)

  • began reading The Merchant of Venice. (Eh, not as gripping to me as King John was, but I’ll still read it. The characters are pretty cool – and funny, too!)
