3 Easy Ways To Organize Your Pantry

3 Easy Ways To Organize Your Pantry

Hello! I hope you’re having a beautiful day. ❤ Recently, I helped my mom completely reorganize our family’s pantry. It had needed doing for a while, as there were areas that needed organizing so we can easily access all of the things we use on a daily basis. I hadn’t thought to do this until last weekend, as it had seemed rather insurmountable 😂 but I realized by breaking it down into steps, I could do it!

Closet Tour: 2019 Edition

Closet Tour: 2019 Edition

Hello! I hope you’re having a beautiful day. ❤ I have been wanting to share a post like this since 2017. Does that seem just a little crazy to you?? xD Yes, I’ve been trying to get my closet organized for the past few years, and for all that time, I could not figure out what the problem was. I could pretty much find a place for everything, but I always felt like there was work to do. After YEARS of taking everything out, cleaning the closet, and putting all my stuff back in, I finally have a closet setup that I adore!

What I’ve Been Loving – February 2019

What I’ve Been Loving – February 2019

Hello and welcome back to my blog! It has been months since I wrote a round-up post like this, and I feel like it’s important for me to summarize my February. I don’t usually say this, but the majority of February absolutely disappeared – we were a couple of days into the month, then suddenly we were over halfway through it!

I chose a raindrops illustration for the background of this post’s featured image because it completely pulls together February’s vibe: literally rainy and emotionally rainy. It was such a dreary month outside, and much of what I experienced emotionally was dreary, as well.

However, I’m not complaining; I learned so much this February. There were some beautiful experiences and some tough circumstances, but through it all, I grew closer to the Lord and my family, so I am grateful for everything I faced. ❤

What I’ve Been Loving – February 2019

Getting my first pair of glasses.

I had no idea that I would ever need to wear prescription glasses, but gosh, am I thankful for them now! It helps me to focus on little details around the house (i.e. coloring and reading), as well as the larger details when I’m out driving or shopping (i.e. signs and such). It reduces my squinting habit by a lot, which is awesome because I don’t want to get squint wrinkles (is that a thing? haha) or weakened vision because I’ve been straining my eyes.

Working on new coloring pages.

I think coloring will always be a hobby of mine. I adore working with color palettes, both tried-and-true ones and bold new ones, almost as much as I love interior designing! I bought a new coloring book last week that is jungle-themed, but I’m waiting to start working on it until I get some colored pencils.

Redecorating my desk space!

This is something I do every few months (or more frequently), and right now, I’m very happy with the look I accomplished! It is so satisfying when I can find decor that matches a specific color palette, because colors that complement each other is what really makes a room.

Playing Sims Mobile.

After watching this Sims challenge on YouTube, I just had to get the game for myself, haha! I didn’t want to invest in the Sims 4 (especially since I’d have to play it on the family computer or Joshua’s PS4), so I just got the app and resisted buying all the special power-ups and other fun, in-game extras. I ended up creating and maturing two rounds of Sims before I got bored of the game. The first two Sims I made were a cute couple who were very successful in their jobs and had a ton of kids (and an adorable little house!), and once they retired and their kids had grown up, I created three guys who were dorming together. (I definitely wouldn’t have had them living together, but you can only have one house in the Sims, so they made do living in the same house lol!)

Figuring out how I want to blog.

I’m still not completely sure what I’m doing yet haha, but I’m allowing the Lord to lead me! Taking it a day at a time is helping me in writing posts and thoroughly enjoying what I’m doing. (Also, this is the only one I used a stock photo for because I still can’t take decent pictures of my laptop.)

Growing closer to Elizabeth.

My heart melted the day she requested to wear her own glasses. I’d already had my glasses for a few weeks at this point, so she was used to seeing me wear them off and on. This selfie we took makes me so happy! She is learning and improving so much, which is an immense blessing for our family. When Elizabeth’s happy, everyone’s happy!

Riding in the back of our dad’s truck with Samuel.

Joshua had asked our dad if he could do some driving practice around our neighborhood in our dad’s truck. Our dad said yes, and because I was outside at the time, I jokingly got in the bed of the truck and said I was coming, too. Samuel thought this was a grand idea (haha), and got even happier when our dad said we could ride back there! It was like our own neighborhood amusement park ride lol

Hosting a blog party for the first time in forever!

I had such a fun time meeting new people and chatting with old friends at this party! A special thank you to all who joined in (:

Working on organizing my closet.

I have been trying to be content with my closet since we first moved to the house we’re currently renting. (That’ll be four years this summer.) A week or two ago, I decided, “YOU KNOW WHAT?? I’m going to get my closet actually looking good!” Haha, so that’s exactly what I’m doing. I’ll probably do a closet tour post soon to celebrate!

(And yes, I own salsa dress. I have this thing for dresses, especially party ones!)

Learning some powerful lessons
in my walk with the Lord.

The Lord has been challenging me and stretching my faith this month. Whenever I pray about becoming the best version of myself, He brings to my mind the darkest things I’ve been struggling with. It’s never what I expect for Him to do, but if I was only praying about positive things, I wouldn’t be growing in my walk with Him, so I’m very thankful that He does this. ❤ Whether it’s related to my behavior with others, my thought patterns, or my expectations in situations, He helps me to work through things I’ve kept buried for years. It’s painful to work through them, but with the Lord by my side, giving me strength and encouraging me every single day, it is more than worth it to follow Him.

Decorating my family’s living room.

I went out and bought new decor for my family’s living room (which I wrote about in this post!), and I’m so happy with the finished look! Watching Elizabeth and Isabella react to the new pillows and canvas was priceless. I’m very glad everyone warmed up to it!

Thanks for reading! All in all, February was a great month, full of important lessons and awesome memories. Let me know in the comments:

Desk Tour {February 2019}

Desk Tour {February 2019}

“Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love.” – Nate Berkus

The last desk tour post I shared was posted in June of last year. That was far too long ago! In this updated desk tour, I’ve shared my work and living space with you, showcased in some of my fine photography.

Desk Tour {February 2019}

It doesn’t matter how I decorate my desk; it always ends up looking cozy, haha! To create this space, I pulled together some simple decor I’ve had for months, then paired them with my world map board which I got from Michael’s last summer. The Bible verse calendar and my little Chromebook are both from Amazon (which is the best place to buy stuff!).

(Also, for all the pictures [practically all of them] in this post that were taken at a weird angle: blame the lighting in my room. I didn’t want my creepy shadows looming over the desk haha)

I found this organizational box at Michael’s recently, and I adore it!! It effectively sorts and displays all the things I use and come back to on a regular basis. As you can see, I haven’t exactly filled it to the brim yet, which is fine with me because it may clutter the look of my desk.

My ‘Dream Big’ block has been in my room since my very first desk tour! (Has it really been two years?) The cute plant is from Michael’s, as well (boy, did I get everything in my room from there?), and I’ll show you the little candle in the photo below.

I don’t know what the weird lighting’s about, but I found this candle at TJMaxx recently and I adore the scent! I ended up buying two of the same candle, I love it that much, haha

It wouldn’t be one of my desk tours without once again sharing my Guatemalan blanket! I feel like it just gets prettier the more pictures I take of it XD

This little guy didn’t appear in the rest of the tour, but I just had to quickly share him! I got him on the day I got my glasses (click here to read about that experience!), because he is such a cute addition to my desk setup. Now, onto the bonus tour …

I bought myself one of those beautiful craft carts! (I’m not exactly keeping anything crafty in it, but I think they’re pretty versatile haha) Having another way to display my hobbies and the things I’m passionate about is so much nicer than having them tucked away in my closet or desk drawers.

On the top shelf, I have my ASL dictionary, binder, and workbook (I’m currently taking a course to learn more ASL!); various things I need to organize and/or start using (lol); and my CD collection. (You may be wondering, can four CDs really make up a collection? Yes, they can haha)

On the middle shelf, I have a spare binder; all the notebooks I’ve purchased over the years but have yet to finish (or START) writing in; a few books I’m currently reading; and a candle.

On the bottom shelf, I have my various art supplies, my ‘laugh often’ plate, and the extra candle. I’m currently trying my hand a calligraphy (and it’s going very well!).

Thank you sooo much for reading! I hope you enjoyed taking a little virtual tour of my room (:

Organizing My Priorities For 2018

Organizing My Priorities For 2018

Hey guys ❤ I hope that this Tuesday has gotten off to a beautiful start for you!

I am extremely happy to report that yesterday evening, my dad brought my mom and Isabella home! I can’t tell you what a blessing it is to have them here now – it made me so sad to not be able to see them. I’m so thankful they didn’t have to stay at the hospital any longer!

Health Update: My mom and Isabella are both doing very well. My mom’s recovering beautifully from the surgery, and we can also all tell that Isabella is happy to be home. ❤ She’s such a sweet baby!!!

Today’s post is going to be about, as you can see from the title, organizing my priorities for this year. While I do love taking things one day at a time, I would also love to have a basic, structured idea of where I should be spending my time. I know that would be a huge help to me!

This is going to be a thinking out loud type of post, so if you’re interested in following along to see how I’m planning to spend the last semester of my senior year, I’d like to invite you to come along! 🙂 ❤ I hope you enjoy.

My Priorities, Organized

This Year:

  1. Take care of my family.
  2. Finish high school.
  3. Make healthy choices.
  4. Save money.
  5. Continue to blog.
  6. Make important decisions.
  7. Continue my education.

This Month:

  1. Stay well.
  2. Read more of the Bible.
  3. Interact more with my siblings.
  4. Bake/Cook more.
  5. Redecorate my room.
  6. Listen to new music.
  7. Participate in a blog challenge.

This Week:

  1. Help my mom with housework.
  2. Make meal plan and grocery shop.
  3. Work on my schoolwork.
  4. Buy a frame for my new wall print.
  5. Shop for new room decor.
  6. Keep up with blogging.
  7. Read Hank and Jim.

I would do a list for today, as well,
but I’m honestly not doing much today, haha! ❤

So there you have it! These are the three awesome lists that I plan to refer back to throughout this week, month, and year, too. My family is my #1 priority right now, and then comes my schooling, my entrance into adulthood (haha), and then everything else. I am so thankful for and blessed by all that the Lord has given me, and I don’t want to take any of it for granted for one second. ❤

Thank you so much for reading!
