Spotlight Saturday #22

I am very happy to introduce you to …

Savannah from Rejoicing in Hope!

1. What are your hobbies and interests?

Wow – these have evolved as my life has changed! I used to be an avid reader but unfortunately that has dwindled down over the past several years. Blogging is definitely a hobby! My family and home have become a large part of my life – welcome to adulting! 😉 I enjoy experimenting with cooking, watching TV, shopping (even grocery shopping). I’m pretty social so I enjoy having people around or getting together with friends. Honestly, I’m up for a lot of things!

2. When did you start your blog?

I started it in March of this year actually!

3. What do you love writing posts about?

Most of my posts are faith-based and I try to post about topics that can encourage or help others.  Sometimes I post about things I’ve experienced and learned from. I guess I like to aim to be inspirational!

4. What are your biggest blogging goals?

This is a hard one.  On one hand I dream of being one of those incredibly famous inspirational bloggers/speakers – honestly I would love to have influence like that. But, on the other hand, I have a life outside of my blogging world that needs and deserves love and attention. So right now I am working to steadily grow my audience, continuing to post (hopefully) awesome stuff 😉 and maybe gain some friendships along the way!

5. What’s a post that you enjoyed writing recently?

One that sticks out to me is You Are More Powerful Than The Stars. Oh my goodness – the potential that is inside of us! And the amazing, amazing fact that the Creator of everything that exists has given us access to His throne and and a supply of His power!

6. Do you have any advice for new bloggers?
Please share it!

Haha, well technically I think I still fall into that category! But I think if I were to give any advice it would be two things. One – do not let your blog become an idol, and don’t allow yourself to measure your worth and significance by how well your blog is doing.  It is great to have goals and dreams, but we cannot allow them to consume us. And if we happen to not immediately gain a wide and responsive audience, that is not an indicator of our worth. It’s easy to get discouraged sometimes!

And the second one is this:

Be yourself and write from your heart. Don’t try to be someone who has x-thousand followers. Don’t try to post about things that betray your morals and standards because people may like to read it. And write with honesty and passion!

7. What are some post ideas
you’re excited to share soon?

Well, if I’m honest, I’m mostly working on a post-to-post basis right now! Sometimes I can write ahead and have them scheduled, but sometimes that just doesn’t happen. So if anyone has anything they would love to read about – either a series or an individual topic – I am absolutely open to suggestions!

Thank you so much for reading! It would be a blessing to me if you could go on by Savannah’s lovely blog and check it out for yourself! You truly won’t regret it! 🙂 ❤

Thanks again for reading, and I hope you have a beautiful new week!

Light Of The World Award

Light Of The World Award

Hi there! I hope you’re having a beautiful day. ❤ Today, I am writing about a beautiful new blog award that I was recently nominated for! T.R. Noble over at Inside Cup included me in her list of nominees for the Light Of The World Award. Thank you so much for nominating me, T.R.! She is an absolutely amazing, dedicated blogger who actually runs two different blogs! You can check out her spiritual blog here, and her personal one here. Also, if you’d like, you can read her post on the award I’m writing about today here.

I am absolutely honored to have been included in this award, because it is for bloggers who are blogging for the same reason I am – to shine the light of Christ! It makes me very happy to be part of this community for this reason. ❤ You can check out the rules for this award below, as well as the reason behind it! I hope you enjoy reading my answers. 🙂

Coffee Chat | He Is Faithful

Coffee Chat | He Is Faithful

Note: I wrote this post the day after I had my first ever surgery. I was thinking about how the Lord had brought me through all of it, which overflowed into the writing of this post. ❤ If you’d like, you can read about my recovery here!

Hey there! I hope you’re having a beautiful Sunday. ❤ This past week, I have been recovering from my first ever surgery. While that has been a lot to adjust to, I’ve also been extremely mindful of the fact that the Lord is the One Who has brought me here. That’s what I’d like to talk about today. Are you ready? Let’s both grab a beautiful cup of coffee and sit down for a lovely chat. ❤

My Favorite Songs From ‘Future’

My Favorite Songs From ‘Future’

Hello there! Happy Monday to you. ❤ I pray your week is getting off to a beautiful start! On this quiet, rainy day where I live, I wanted to write a quick and fun review of one of my new favorite music albums! I’ll be talking about Future by the extremely talented music artist, Jordan Feliz!

When I found out that he was releasing his second album a few weeks ago (which I promised myself I’d buy back when I was so obsessed with his debut album, haha), I ordered it off of Amazon the morning after it came out. I had decided to wait to listen to any of the new songs, even when he released the audio versions on YouTube because I always think it’s more special to listen to the album as a whole – not just through digital releases!

I’ll go ahead and link to some of these songs so you can listen to them yourself 🙂 However, I highly recommend the entire album if you do like Jordan Feliz and his style of music! (Remember ‘The River’? It has been a radio hit for quite a while now!)

At this point, I haven’t even listened to every song on Future. That’s because when I buy a new album, I’ll really enjoy listening to a handful of the new songs, then when I get tired of them, I’ll check out the rest of the album! I’m able to spread out my enjoyment of the music this way 🙂 Let me know if you do this too, haha!

Also, I have already been listening to Witness and Changed for months/weeks now, and they’re both beautiful songs! Today, I’ll just be talking about the top four that stand out to me from the album right now. I hope you enjoy! Comment down below which one is your favorite. ❤

180 – In this song, Jordan expresses his desire to return to the Lord, even after all he’s gone through. It is a wonderful reminder to me that regardless of how far I’ve gone, the Lord will always welcome me back – and the same is true for you. We just have to put our trust in Him!

That’s The Life – If, for no other reason, this song is epic because of all of the unique notes Jordan manages to hit! That’s one of the things I love about Jordan – I can’t get over how talented he is! Anyway, he sings about marveling over how the Lord is caring for him – something I myself do daily!

My Shelter – Jordan talks about how no matter what we’re going through, the Lord is always by our side, watching over us and protecting us! His love never fails. ❤

Lay It Down – This is the song that stood out to me on this album first. The chorus really got to me, and just like other songs that urge us to bring all of our burdens before the Lord, releasing them into His hands, Lay It Down moved me to tears. Definitely, listen to this one!

the tracklist.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope I have encouraged you to check Jordan Feliz’s music out if you haven’t already! 😀 You can get the album on Amazon here. (Not sponsored!)

Happy Monday to you! Let me know in the comments below:

My Thoughts On Missions + My Future

My Thoughts On Missions + My Future

Hey guys ❤ Happy Monday to all of you! Over the last couple of days, I’ve been wanting to write an update-style post on some of the thoughts I’ve been having in reference to missions – specifically, the ones that I will be involved in. I was thinking about adding to my ‘Missions Monday’ series, but I couldn’t get the formatting right (long story lol), so I wanted to write a standalone post, instead.

I’ll be listing some of these thoughts in the order that they come to me, then expounding on them to share with you. I know that this will not only be enjoyable to share with you, but will help me to work and think through some of the things that have been going through my head recently. ❤

If you’d like to follow along, I’d love for you to join me! Let’s get started.

1. Recently, I’ve been reading a book on children mission work. I talked about it with you guys in this post, and since writing that, I’ve further enjoyed reading it. However, its good points and beautiful recounts have stressed the idea in my mind that maybe I need to begin preparing. It might be possible that once I finish this last semester of 12th grade, I’ll get to go on a mission trip … but it’s also extremely possible that I’ll enjoy a full summer off from school for the first time. So, even though I’m all for going where the Lord leads me, whether that’s somewhere in my state, or outside of my country, mission trips isn’t where He has my heart right now. I desire to be open to the opportunities He brings my way, certainly, but also possess the knowledge that even if something looks admirable, it may not be for me at the time I learn about it. Missions will come … but not in this moment.

2. I’d love to know where the Lord is leading me. Sometimes, I desire that more than I’m willing to wait on His timing, and those are the seasons in my life when my heart aches the most. In contrast, when I’ve been able to see that His timing is perfect, even when my skewed vision sees it as being delayed, I am more joyful and at peace than the times when I’ve gotten what I wanted right then and there. Isn’t that crazy? It just shows that when something’s within His will, it is wholly good for our lives!

3. I won’t be going to college this fall. If, by some miracle, I would be able to arrange community college classes or something lol, that’s the only way I’ll be furthering my education after high school this year – in a college setting, that is. However, I’m in love with the idea of studying topics that deeply interest me through the limitless information available in books and on websites, which is most likely what I’ll pursue this summer! I’m very excited about that (:

4. I’m turning 18 this April. Woohoo! haha my family and I don’t have any specific plans yet, but I do know it will involve spending the day with them, eating cake, and hopefully opening my first bank account. ❤ So exciting!

5. I desire to believe that I am currently where He wants me to be. There have been SO many times in my life where I’ve felt like I should be somewhere else. Not in a physical sense – just simply that my overall situation should be different in little (and sometimes bigger) ways. Since I was 15, I’ve wanted a job, but it hasn’t been His will for me to have one yet. I’ve been open for a long time to what His plans are for me in reference to college, but those prayers have not brought about any plans (which I am at peace with). Believing the absolute truth that my life is in His hands, and that in this present moment, as I write this blog post in my room, is just where He has me to be, is something I’d love to trust more often. Waiting on Him is not a silent, lazy form of waiting … just like a very wise pastor said, waiting on God is an active stillness. Even in the quietness, when I feel unproductive and like I should be doing something more … this is what He has for me, and I desire to find beauty in that in every single day.

Thank you so much for reading! ❤ I loved getting to write this to share with you. 🙂 If you have anything you’d like to share with me, I’d be very happy to chat with you in the comments below. Whether it’s about something I wrote about above, or you’d like to share how the Lord has worked in your life during times of active stillness, I’d love to hear from you! I hope you have a beautiful day. ❤

My Focuses For Today – February 2018

My Focuses For Today – February 2018

Hi there, guys! ❤ I hope you’re all doing well! It has been a full week since I’ve shown my face in the blogging world, and I am truly happy to be back here again to see how all of you are doing.

What has your week been like so far? Anything exciting been going on in your life lately? Please do let me know in the comments below!

In this evening’s update-esque post (of course that’s a word, haha), I thought that I would compile some of the focuses of my life recently, all into one beautiful post. ❤ I love knowing what I should daily be spending my time doing, as well as what I should be praying over, and maybe even thinking about, too. Everything that I end up doing on a regular basis slowly forms and greatly impacts me, and I desire to make sure every now and then that those things are good, honorable, and full of the Lord’s love.

As you know, I recently wrote about my priorities, organized for 2018 (click here),  but today’s post will do a better job of showing you some of the things I’ve been thinking about, dwelling on, and praying over these past few weeks, and into the present, too. Like I mentioned a moment ago, I’d love to know how you’ve been! If I haven’t commented on your blog recently, it is very probable that I’ll be showing back up in your notifications soon. 🙂 ❤

I hope you enjoy reading today’s update post. xx Let’s check this out!

My Focuses For Today –
February 2018

Learn.

This refers to a variety of things, which is really cool, because I’ll always love learning, haha! I recently fell back in love with the art of learning a foreign language, and my obsession with using Memrise to learn more Spanish has completely returned. I only have one full course of the language left to complete, and I’m not sure what I’ll do with myself after that. lol The other things I’ve been learning lately are all of the subjects I’m taking for my last semester of high school! Physics has been especially fun, because I really do love science now (I know, crazy right??!), and consumer finance has been a blast, too. I can’t wait to open my own bank account this year!

Grow.

I know, deep down in my heart, that the Lord has called me to a higher purpose than to simply reach a certain point of human kindness and then stop there. I am constantly growing, maturing and learning, and becoming inspired by His beautiful example all over again. He is teaching me things about myself I would have never realized were even part of me, and helping me conquer obstacles I had no idea existed. It is not His will for me to live in fear, sadness, or confusion … He is helping me work through every single negativity that my life has ever beheld. The more He teaches me, the more I realize that not only is this a constant process, but He is also more than willing to reach to the furthest depths of my aching soul to teach me of a love I can only begin to comprehend. I am thankful every day for His love, mercy, and patience, and showing as much of that kind of love as I can to those around me is my mission.

Minimize.

No, I’m not talking about closing an open internet tab on your computer, haha – although it is the same word! Recently, I have taken to seeing that the contents of my room are more than I’m happy with. That is, I’ve held on to things for a long time that I truly don’t even like anymore – whether that’s a book I read once, a shirt I thought I’d wear, or some wall art that I liked for a while. Just because it used to mean something to me doesn’t mean I am obligated to hold onto it now. With this realization has come a freedom I cannot explain, and I am in love with the idea of surrounding myself with things that I adore, and those things only. This doesn’t mean my lifestyle has or will change – not drastically, anyway … but I do know that the Lord is teaching me something through this, and I am willing to learn through the experience. ❤

Photograph.

Along with the lesson I mentioned learning above, my love for photography has been restored. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been going through, organizing, and uploading all the pictures I need to get printed, that I may savor the beautiful memories I experienced with my family over the past year or so of our lives. Once I get them printed, I’ll be all caught up, until I have to start the printing process all over again next year. xD Oh, well! It’s worth it ❤ I’m enjoying getting to take pictures of Isabella, and the weather’s been nicer lately, so we’ve been spending more time outside. I love taking pictures of my siblings out in the beautiful natural lighting, and I may have do a post soon with some of those photos.

Motivate.

One of the main points I’ve taken from a book I’ve been reading recently (still haven’t finished it, haha) is that children benefit deeply from praise and motivation they receive from those they admire. Because I’m the eldest of five children, I have the opportunity every day to be an encouragement and inspiration to them, and I don’t desire to neglect that purpose for a second. I also enjoy sharing inspiration with others through blog posts, and in conversations with my parents, as well – whenever I have the chance, I desire to be there for others, in having uplifting chats and sharing words of wisdom. It’s one of the reasons I’m here ❤

Savor.

Children really do have only one childhood, and I desire to be truly present in the early lives of my younger brothers and sisters. However, no matter where I am, I’d love to always be conscious of the fact that we only have the chance of living each individual day once, and that when a moment is lost in time, it’s impossible to experience it as we did in the moment it first occurred. Making sure that I’m not wishing the days away, and instead being happy wherever the Lord has me, is very important to me.

Live.

This should really be a permanent focus throughout the entirety of my life, for I’d love to always live with intention and purpose! Knowing and trusting that the Lord is caring for me, and also that my future is in His hands, gives me great peace of mind that I cannot begin to explain. I desire to dutifully take upon myself the aspects of my life that He gives me – which is all of it, as a matter of fact. Believing that He will get me to where I need to be, exactly at the right time, provides great hope for my future. ❤

Thank you so much for reading! I hope and pray that you’re having a great week so far, and that you have a great day or night. ❤ Happy Tuesday!
