Coffee Chat | Waiting On The Lord

Coffee Chat | Waiting On The Lord

Hi there! Happy Sunday to you. ❤ This is going to be a very open and honest post, one that I hope will be able to inspire you on this beautiful weekend. There have been many times throughout my walk with the Lord when I would have deeply appreciated reading something like this while waiting on His timing for something I desired – because it is often not easy. The thoughts and prayers that go through our heads while holding on to faith often lose strength the longer we wait, which is why encouragement along the way is an essential. May you be just as inspired by reading this as I was blessed by writing it. ❤ Let’s both grab a cup of coffee (or your preferred choice of beverage) and sit down for a chat!

Returning To His Word

Returning To His Word

Hello there, and Happy Sunday to you! ❤ This is going to be a quick, update-type post because there’s something on my heart I’d like to share with you this morning.

Over the last few weeks, through prayer and talking to others (thank you, God’s Warrior!), I have slowly been on a journey that is returning me to find enjoyment in reading the Bible. For the longest time now, I have felt lost when it comes to where to read, what I can still get out of the books and chapters I’ve previously studied, and just how to begin finding the Old Testament interesting. It has been a struggle for me, for sure, but I am now more than ready to put my all into loving His Word.

5 Simple Ways to Quickly Brighten Your Day

5 Simple Ways to Quickly Brighten Your Day

Hey there! I hope you’re doing well. ❤ In today’s post, I will be sharing a few inspirational tips with you! I know how much it helps me to be reminded of easy ways to get out of an emotional rut, as I find myself in one all too often. That is the inspiration behind this post. ❤

Sometimes, a day just truly doesn’t go well for us, which we can’t do much about. However, there are other days when it’s not the day itself, but how we see it that brings us down! I have noticed, especially over the past few years, how true this fact is in my life. It’s also an eye-opener to how we respond to what’s happening, as well as seeing circumstances as they truly are and not through biased vision. It’s a learning experience, for sure – one that I’m still very much on myself!

Just as much as I hope these tips will inspire you, I hope to inspire myself in return. They are five easy ways to quickly uplift your mood – and hopefully mine, too! Life is one crazy journey, and learning to face the sudden turns and ups and downs is where we will conquer our emotional roller coasters. 🙂

If you have any requests for this inspirational series, please do let me know in the comments below! It is my goal to focus on having my blog be as encouraging as possible, both to reader and author alike. ❤ I hope that you enjoy!

Because this post goes along with the theme of the HARPs challenge I’m participating in, I’m counting it as one of my posts! Go check out this awesome competition here.

5 Simple Ways to
Quickly Brighten Your Day

1. Go do something productive. I know that on days when things really aren’t going the way I’d like, it blesses me to make sure there are at least a few good things that will make me happy about that day! One thing that really gets my positivity gears turning is by performing an easy task I was already needing to do – regardless of how necessary, important, or detailed the thing is. It could be anything from re-organizing the refrigerator, jotting down blog post ideas, or arranging the shirts in your closet by color – it’s totally up to you! If you find that you’re already feeling a bit better after having completed that thing, that’s the important part.

2. Turn on your favorite song. For me, there are few things that boost my mood more than hearing one of my favorite tunes! This could be an epic instrumental piece, a hit pop song, or a worship song that always makes you joyful – it depends on your music taste, and how much you’re willing to jam out! 😉

3. Compliment someone else. I read a post yesterday morning that beautifully reminded me just how uplifting it feels to make someone else smile! (I’ll be sharing that post with you this Saturday, so definitely be looking out for that!) I wouldn’t recommend complimenting others if you’re angry or something, because that could come across as aggressive. lol This applies better for on days when you feel sluggish, maybe it’s even rainy outside – a typical “meh” day. Try it! Giving someone confidence they probably don’t usually get will have a huge impact on them. ❤

4. Go outside. Weather-permitting, that is! There are few things that can dampen (sometimes literally) your mood more than a drizzly morning, or a hot afternoon, or a snowy evening. (Yeah. I heard Michigan’s getting snow. In April. #ThatsTheNorth) You get the picture! If you can comfortably go for a bike ride, a walk with your dog, or just sit out on your front porch – DO IT. There’s something beautifully refreshing about being out in nature.

5. Turn on your favorite movie. Even if you just watched it last week! If it’s your favorite movie, it’s bound to have scenes that bring you great happiness. Personally, I prefer a movie with a great sense of humor, but hey, you do you. If horror films are your cup of tea (although there’s certainly nothing refreshing about fright!), go enjoy your favorite movie. You won’t regret it!

Thank you so much for reading my post today! If I don’t get around to responding to comments until tomorrow, that’s because I’m going to the eye doctor this afternoon, and having my eyes dilated may cause dizziness and light sensitivity. haha

Activities That Make Me Happy

Activities That Make Me Happy

Hi there! I hope you’re doing well. ❤ Happy Monday to you! I’m really excited about getting to share some of the post ideas I have this week because I’m currently participating in an awesome posting contest!

Starling is hosting what she has called HARPs (Happy And Random Posts Contest), which encourages the three teams of bloggers (I’m on Team Ladybug!) to write fun and uplifting posts. You can check out the first round of this contest here. For now, let’s see what I have to share with you today! I hope I can make my team proud, haha

Activites That Make Me Happy

This post is inspired by my love for relaxing activities! One of my favorite ways to de-stress, wind down after a long day, and even begin my day is by doing something fun and quiet. Among my favorite activities to do right now are …

Read. I have so many awesome second-hand books on my shelf at the moment that are demanding my attention! Finding a really good book and enjoying reading it makes me so joyful. Right now, I’m finishing reading one that discusses the Proverbs 31 woman (such a good read! I may review it sometime soon). Once I’ve finished that one, I’d love to start reading a heartwarming biography by Former First Lady Nancy Reagan. ❤

Color. I have absolutely adored coloring since I was a little kid! When adult coloring books became the trend, just in time for me to enjoy them (haha), I easily found a great many that made me pleased to look through. The ones I’ve gotten for myself all contain beautiful art and delightful intricate designs! I’ve been slowly been working on coloring all of my favorite pages, and that has been so peaceful and fun. My favorite book right now is my The Psalms in Color one, which incorporates Bible verses with coloring – two things that I absolutely love! I’m very glad I found this one while thrifting because I was actually considering buying this exact one online for more than double the price I paid. 😀

Listen to music. This one is no secret, and it’s also one that I’ve enjoyed doing my whole life! My taste in songs has obviously changed and transformed over the years, but I find that I’ll happily go back to bands and albums that I’ve loved listening to for years. Right now, I’m loving Jordan Feliz’s newest album, Future, as well as most songs by the artist Leeland, haha!

Write a story. Yes, it is quite possible that I’m back to writing a story! 😉 I won’t share too much yet, but I will say that I’m already on the second chapter, research is going really well, and I am already beyond elated to be giving these awesome book characters their own story. Should I share some snippets from it soon?

Brainstorm blog posts. I don’t usually write blog posts or browse WordPress while having downtime, since blogging easily starts to feel like work lol, but I do have fun thinking of posts I’d like to write in the upcoming weeks! I’m especially thrilled when several ideas come to me at once, and that’s when I’m always quick to write them down – I very quickly forget blogging inspiration. Just this morning, I was reading a blog post by a new friend of mine (thanks, Zielle!), and her blog tips really helped me to come up with some new ideas! I’m so thankful! (The image above is of the cute cacti notepad I usually write down my ideas on.)

Thank you so much for reading! I loved sharing my favorite pastimes with you. ❤ Let me know in the comments below:

Quotes That Inspire Me, Pt. 4

Hey there! I hope you’re having a beautiful day. ❤ Thank you so much to all of you for wishing me a happy birthday yesterday! I had an absolutely amazing day – everything that I got to do with my family could not have gone better. 🙂 I’m so thankful!

On this lovely morning, I wanted to finally write a post sharing a compilation of my current favorite quotes. ❤ I’ve been meaning to these past few weeks, but other posts took its place! I adore writing these from time to time because I’m always being inspired by what I see on Pinterest’s motivational side (you can go follow me here!), which is evident by the other three posts I’ve written in this series.

My Top 7 Favorite Quotes

“Life becomes more beautiful when we stop anticipating the worst.” – Matt Hattersley

cannot tell you how good it is for me to be reminded of truths like this! I am always quick to worry that circumstances and situations will go as poorly as possible, which is awful because then I’m living in fear in even the most exciting of times. Taking a moment to remember how things have gone well in the past is a practice I don’t often keep up with, even though I would so appreciate it!

Most of the people who died yesterday had plans for today.
Don’t take life for granted.

This one is a bit deep, but goodness, it has me absolutely floored. It’s one of those quotes that easily gets me thinking deeply, along with quotes like one of my favorites: “If the words you said were tattooed on your skin, would you still say them?” We are living this life with purpose … may we never fall into the mentality that we are left to wander this earth alone. Please, keep it intently on your mind just how precious life is!

Remember what it feels like to be excluded so that you can help build a community where everyone is included.

It is well known that we can only truly empathize with others when we have first gone through what they’re facing. With this in mind, I am encouraged to remember the times when groups of people were unwilling to accept me – just how lonely and forgotten it feels to be in the presence of others who don’t wish to give you the time of day. The next time I’m around someone who has no one else to turn to or talk to, I want to be there for them – may I be the reason they can smile that day. ❤

Very little is needed
to make a happy life.

I have seen the beauty and truth of this through two things. First, through observing how having more than enough makes me feel, and two, being open to how my minimalist-minded mother views life. Surrounding myself with things that make me happy, without the number of possessions being overwhelming, is truly an art. I see complete value in experiencing life over owning things, in appreciating things I can afford without feeling a total attachment to them for extended amounts of time. I’m still experimenting with how I wish to live and spend my money, and I’m enjoying the process.

Your mistakes do not define you.

While other quotes have got me thinking more than this one, it is quite possibly the one I need to read the most. When I misstep and lose my way, I am well known for judging myself on my way back to the right way to live. I cannot improve and live the way I desire to with self-condemnation. This is why the Lord is helping me immensely to leave this trait behind.

Be the change you want to see.

I can easily begin judging others for doing wrong instead of focusing on improving my own behavior! It’s not good to live a life that condemns other people – even when it’s easy, it doesn’t feel right to look down on others in that way when we have our own issues. Where you can step in and do right, regardless of what others are choosing to do, is where we can thrive.

Do all things
with purpose.

It is so easy to fall into the habit of going through the motions. However, what if we were to live with the intention of doing all things with great love – with purpose? I know that our view of life would become so much more beautiful! Knowing we’re making a difference in the lives of our family and friends is absolutely wonderful. ❤

Thank you so much for reading! I had fun getting to share these quotes with you. I hope you have a blessed Wednesday!
