Spotlight Saturday #22

I am very happy to introduce you to …

Savannah from Rejoicing in Hope!

1. What are your hobbies and interests?

Wow – these have evolved as my life has changed! I used to be an avid reader but unfortunately that has dwindled down over the past several years. Blogging is definitely a hobby! My family and home have become a large part of my life – welcome to adulting! 😉 I enjoy experimenting with cooking, watching TV, shopping (even grocery shopping). I’m pretty social so I enjoy having people around or getting together with friends. Honestly, I’m up for a lot of things!

2. When did you start your blog?

I started it in March of this year actually!

3. What do you love writing posts about?

Most of my posts are faith-based and I try to post about topics that can encourage or help others.  Sometimes I post about things I’ve experienced and learned from. I guess I like to aim to be inspirational!

4. What are your biggest blogging goals?

This is a hard one.  On one hand I dream of being one of those incredibly famous inspirational bloggers/speakers – honestly I would love to have influence like that. But, on the other hand, I have a life outside of my blogging world that needs and deserves love and attention. So right now I am working to steadily grow my audience, continuing to post (hopefully) awesome stuff 😉 and maybe gain some friendships along the way!

5. What’s a post that you enjoyed writing recently?

One that sticks out to me is You Are More Powerful Than The Stars. Oh my goodness – the potential that is inside of us! And the amazing, amazing fact that the Creator of everything that exists has given us access to His throne and and a supply of His power!

6. Do you have any advice for new bloggers?
Please share it!

Haha, well technically I think I still fall into that category! But I think if I were to give any advice it would be two things. One – do not let your blog become an idol, and don’t allow yourself to measure your worth and significance by how well your blog is doing.  It is great to have goals and dreams, but we cannot allow them to consume us. And if we happen to not immediately gain a wide and responsive audience, that is not an indicator of our worth. It’s easy to get discouraged sometimes!

And the second one is this:

Be yourself and write from your heart. Don’t try to be someone who has x-thousand followers. Don’t try to post about things that betray your morals and standards because people may like to read it. And write with honesty and passion!

7. What are some post ideas
you’re excited to share soon?

Well, if I’m honest, I’m mostly working on a post-to-post basis right now! Sometimes I can write ahead and have them scheduled, but sometimes that just doesn’t happen. So if anyone has anything they would love to read about – either a series or an individual topic – I am absolutely open to suggestions!

Thank you so much for reading! It would be a blessing to me if you could go on by Savannah’s lovely blog and check it out for yourself! You truly won’t regret it! 🙂 ❤

Thanks again for reading, and I hope you have a beautiful new week!

Coffee Chat | He Is Faithful

Coffee Chat | He Is Faithful

Note: I wrote this post the day after I had my first ever surgery. I was thinking about how the Lord had brought me through all of it, which overflowed into the writing of this post. ❤ If you’d like, you can read about my recovery here!

Hey there! I hope you’re having a beautiful Sunday. ❤ This past week, I have been recovering from my first ever surgery. While that has been a lot to adjust to, I’ve also been extremely mindful of the fact that the Lord is the One Who has brought me here. That’s what I’d like to talk about today. Are you ready? Let’s both grab a beautiful cup of coffee and sit down for a lovely chat. ❤

The Harvest Is Here

The Harvest Is Here

Hello there! Happy Sunday to you. ❤ I hope you’re doing well! I’ve decided to center today’s post on a single Bible verse, not only because it’s wonderful, but also because it has been a good while since I wrote about His Word, which I love so much!

From now on, I’m planning on sharing verses on Sundays this way when one really stands out to me from the week. If I feel like I can write a post on it (like I am today), I’ll gladly do so!

If you’d like to see the verse I’m sharing in this post, I’m including it below! I hope you enjoy reading. ❤

John 4:35

“Do you not say,
It is still four months until harvest comes?
Look! I tell you,
raise your eyes and observe the fields
and see how they are already white for harvesting.”

Let’s say you’re making preparations for a mission trip you’re going on this summer. It is definitely looking like everything is going smoothly, and the trip itself will be a great success.

But that’s four months from now.

Does that mean you should save all of your creative, loving energy for that trip? It makes more sense to put all your effort into planning, preparing, making sure everything’s ready for the day you leave – right?

Well, I think there’s a beautiful balance to be found between thriving in the present, and being conscious of the future. ❤

You see, if we were to wait until specific opportunities to be kind, to love, to share with others about His grace, the world would be a much darker place.

The time is always right to do what’s right.

We need beautiful individuals to rise up and believe, with their whole heart, that the harvest is always here.

Thank you so much for reading! I’m praying I could inspire you on this lovely Sunday. 🙂

Let me know in the comments below what YOU thought of this post!
I’d love to hear from you. ❤

Missions Monday – Part Seven | The Goodness Of The Lord

Missions Monday – Part Seven | The Goodness Of The Lord

Hi there, guys! ❤ Happy Monday to you. 🙂 I hope you’re doing well! Recently, I have been thinking more about missions than I have in quite a while, which is what inspired me to add a seventh part to my Missions Monday series. I can’t believe I’ve written so many posts on this topic – it’s awesome! But it has been quite a while since I actually shared one, so that’s why I wanted to continue with it today.

Related Post: Missions Monday – Part One | How It All Began

On the subject of missions, I have written posts concerning my status with them (which is prayerfully waiting ❤ ), as well as inspiration for others also interested in them. I’ve shared that waiting on the Lord to provide us with the missions He desires for us to go on is so important, because that is where we will truly be a blessing to others.

Whether the work He gives us to do is in our own country or across the world, He is in the midst of those who do His work, in every shape and form.

In my own life, I’ve experienced and seen for myself His power at work, both in my highest moments and lowest points. I have been humbled by His greatness when life is truly good, and I have clung to Him for dear life when I’ve feared the worst. Not once has He failed me.

While sitting in the quiet of my room recently, I’ve found myself doubting that I was where He desired for me to be. I wondered if composing journal entries to Him and brainstorming blog posts was worth the precious time I’ve been given – but you know what? I felt at peace while engaging in those activities, because they’re both ways I express my love for Him.

There have been times when I wasn’t sure if I’d continue blogging. There have also been more times of disinterest in journaling, a hobby I used to adore … but they’re both things I’ve come back to without fail, because not only do they add to my life – they also uplift my relationship with Him. And those are things I can tell He still desires for me to do.

The more I’ve observed how He is able to use even the simplest things in my life for His glory, I have further experienced for myself the goodness of the Lord.

Isn’t it beautiful that the Lord sends His people out into the world to tell others of His matchless grace? His love encompasses all of us, and He knows that one main way He speaks to the lost is through those who have already been redeemed.

“How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You, before the sons of men!” – Psalm 31:19

His goodness reaches to the heavens. He lovingly guides us to exactly where we need to be, at the perfect time, under the right circumstances, for as long as He desires us to be there. Our ministry is often found in the smallest of tasks, in the shortest conversations, with people who are part of our lives if even for just a moment. The Lord knows that our witness is strong when the timing is right, even when we can’t see the significance of these times – for when we shine His light, lost souls turn our way.

How do you feel when you come across a stranger experiencing true joy? They may be laughing with a friend, or interacting with a child, or simply greeting you with a smile as you walk into the store. Doesn’t that spark something within you to give back the simple kindness they just treated you to? I know that’s how I always feel – it inspires me to go out and do something simple for someone else, to make the tiniest difference in another’s life. Passing on love in this way is so easy to do, yet so often neglected at the same time.

Will you do me a favor? The next time you question the importance of where your life is headed, think of the Lord and all of His goodness. When we allow Him to beautifully craft our lives in His caring hands, He will never neglect us … in even the quietest moments of our existence, He is there with us. We matter so much more to Him than we’ll ever know. ❤

Thank you so much for reading today’s post! I hope you enjoyed it, and also that your week is getting off to a beautiful start. 🙂 Have a wonderful day!

My Focuses For Today – February 2018

My Focuses For Today – February 2018

Hi there, guys! ❤ I hope you’re all doing well! It has been a full week since I’ve shown my face in the blogging world, and I am truly happy to be back here again to see how all of you are doing.

What has your week been like so far? Anything exciting been going on in your life lately? Please do let me know in the comments below!

In this evening’s update-esque post (of course that’s a word, haha), I thought that I would compile some of the focuses of my life recently, all into one beautiful post. ❤ I love knowing what I should daily be spending my time doing, as well as what I should be praying over, and maybe even thinking about, too. Everything that I end up doing on a regular basis slowly forms and greatly impacts me, and I desire to make sure every now and then that those things are good, honorable, and full of the Lord’s love.

As you know, I recently wrote about my priorities, organized for 2018 (click here),  but today’s post will do a better job of showing you some of the things I’ve been thinking about, dwelling on, and praying over these past few weeks, and into the present, too. Like I mentioned a moment ago, I’d love to know how you’ve been! If I haven’t commented on your blog recently, it is very probable that I’ll be showing back up in your notifications soon. 🙂 ❤

I hope you enjoy reading today’s update post. xx Let’s check this out!

My Focuses For Today –
February 2018

Learn.

This refers to a variety of things, which is really cool, because I’ll always love learning, haha! I recently fell back in love with the art of learning a foreign language, and my obsession with using Memrise to learn more Spanish has completely returned. I only have one full course of the language left to complete, and I’m not sure what I’ll do with myself after that. lol The other things I’ve been learning lately are all of the subjects I’m taking for my last semester of high school! Physics has been especially fun, because I really do love science now (I know, crazy right??!), and consumer finance has been a blast, too. I can’t wait to open my own bank account this year!

Grow.

I know, deep down in my heart, that the Lord has called me to a higher purpose than to simply reach a certain point of human kindness and then stop there. I am constantly growing, maturing and learning, and becoming inspired by His beautiful example all over again. He is teaching me things about myself I would have never realized were even part of me, and helping me conquer obstacles I had no idea existed. It is not His will for me to live in fear, sadness, or confusion … He is helping me work through every single negativity that my life has ever beheld. The more He teaches me, the more I realize that not only is this a constant process, but He is also more than willing to reach to the furthest depths of my aching soul to teach me of a love I can only begin to comprehend. I am thankful every day for His love, mercy, and patience, and showing as much of that kind of love as I can to those around me is my mission.

Minimize.

No, I’m not talking about closing an open internet tab on your computer, haha – although it is the same word! Recently, I have taken to seeing that the contents of my room are more than I’m happy with. That is, I’ve held on to things for a long time that I truly don’t even like anymore – whether that’s a book I read once, a shirt I thought I’d wear, or some wall art that I liked for a while. Just because it used to mean something to me doesn’t mean I am obligated to hold onto it now. With this realization has come a freedom I cannot explain, and I am in love with the idea of surrounding myself with things that I adore, and those things only. This doesn’t mean my lifestyle has or will change – not drastically, anyway … but I do know that the Lord is teaching me something through this, and I am willing to learn through the experience. ❤

Photograph.

Along with the lesson I mentioned learning above, my love for photography has been restored. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been going through, organizing, and uploading all the pictures I need to get printed, that I may savor the beautiful memories I experienced with my family over the past year or so of our lives. Once I get them printed, I’ll be all caught up, until I have to start the printing process all over again next year. xD Oh, well! It’s worth it ❤ I’m enjoying getting to take pictures of Isabella, and the weather’s been nicer lately, so we’ve been spending more time outside. I love taking pictures of my siblings out in the beautiful natural lighting, and I may have do a post soon with some of those photos.

Motivate.

One of the main points I’ve taken from a book I’ve been reading recently (still haven’t finished it, haha) is that children benefit deeply from praise and motivation they receive from those they admire. Because I’m the eldest of five children, I have the opportunity every day to be an encouragement and inspiration to them, and I don’t desire to neglect that purpose for a second. I also enjoy sharing inspiration with others through blog posts, and in conversations with my parents, as well – whenever I have the chance, I desire to be there for others, in having uplifting chats and sharing words of wisdom. It’s one of the reasons I’m here ❤

Savor.

Children really do have only one childhood, and I desire to be truly present in the early lives of my younger brothers and sisters. However, no matter where I am, I’d love to always be conscious of the fact that we only have the chance of living each individual day once, and that when a moment is lost in time, it’s impossible to experience it as we did in the moment it first occurred. Making sure that I’m not wishing the days away, and instead being happy wherever the Lord has me, is very important to me.

Live.

This should really be a permanent focus throughout the entirety of my life, for I’d love to always live with intention and purpose! Knowing and trusting that the Lord is caring for me, and also that my future is in His hands, gives me great peace of mind that I cannot begin to explain. I desire to dutifully take upon myself the aspects of my life that He gives me – which is all of it, as a matter of fact. Believing that He will get me to where I need to be, exactly at the right time, provides great hope for my future. ❤

Thank you so much for reading! I hope and pray that you’re having a great week so far, and that you have a great day or night. ❤ Happy Tuesday!

Willing To Listen

Willing To Listen

Hey there, guys! Happy Sunday to all of you 🙂 ❤ I was inspired to write this post because I would like to further share what has been on my heart lately. Just like I wrote about here (and here, too!), I have been having a good many thoughts on what my future holds, which includes where the Lord will lead me in the coming years of my life.

I used to see my future as being something that’s in my control. That is, I thought my future depended on how much I put into it.

Because I love being productive and knowing for certain I’m getting things done, it has bothered me for the longest time that that which lies ahead in my life is completely unknown to me, concealed in a dense fog.

I would think that to be within His will, I needed to have a good idea of what lay ahead.

If the Lord would only let me get a peek inside, I’d basically think to myself, then I’d know how to prepare, be ready, and enjoy it when it gets here.

It was hard for me to accept that His timing was not my own, because waiting on Him to work things out in my life seemed like a waste of time. Why would it be His will for me to sit and do nothing for days, weeks, even years while He worked behind the scenes?

These thoughts (and the solution He has given me) are what inspired the title of this post.

“He knows when we are willing to hear His answers.” – Dr. Charles Stanley

This quote absolutely blew me away.

He knows exactly when the moment has come to reveal to me the plans He has for me – not a moment sooner, nor a moment later.

I understand that waiting is hardly, if ever, easy. I have wanted countless things before it was my time to have them … however, with each and every situation where I felt impatient was helping me to learn that there is so much more to faith than simply waiting to make our move until God speaks.

Faith is about trusting Him while the clock is ticking away.

Faith is proof of the fact that we know His timing is completely perfect.

Faith shows that we know He has a great plan that is not hindered by calendar days.

Faith grows in these hard conditions, watered by His grace.

True faith is utterly convinced that He knows us so much better than we do.

When we trust in Him, He is absolutely faithful to manifest the plans He has for us in our lives. He will not forget about us … and He knows just when we are ready to hear about the things He has for us.

“However, as it is written, what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived – the things God has prepared for those who love Him-” – 1 Corinthians 2:9

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” – Psalm 27:14
