Summer OOTD – Pink Hues/Casual

Summer OOTD – Pink Hues/Casual

Hi there!! Happy Thursday to you! ❤ I have a very exciting post to share with you today 🙂 The last ‘outfit of the day’ post I did was back in November, haha, because I absolutely love fall fashion! However, I have been putting together some outfits lately for the warmer months that I’d love to post about on my blog, as well.

Today’s outfit is a beautiful combination of my favorite newest additions to my wardrobe! Bonus points for it being something I can wear on the hottest day in Georgia, haha 🙂 It has light colors, is fashionable, and can be worn most of the places I go! I hope you enjoy today’s post! ❤

My Succulent Photography

My Succulent Photography

Hi there! Happy Thursday to you. ❤ This is going to be a fun, short, and lighthearted post showcasing some of my recent photography! One of my favorite things to take pictures of by far is succulents. They’re fun to look at, easy to care for, and some of the leaf textures of different varieties are just amazing! If you adore succulents and little cacti as much as I do, I know you’ll enjoy this post. Happy reading!

Note: The only succulent that is mine is the little one in the featured image! The rest I photographed at a store:)

The Confidence Of A Child

The Confidence Of A Child

Hey there! Happy Wednesday to you. ❤ Bright and early Monday morning this week, I went and sat down on the living room couch to see Elizabeth. She had just woken up and was already smiling while rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. At one year old, she will be two this June.

I had my phone in my hand, so I decided to show her and my mom a picture I got of Isabella a week or two ago. That made Elizabeth smile even more, so I decided to turn on the selfie cam so she could see her own cute little face.

That is how the featured image of this post came into being.

My Focuses For Today – February 2018

My Focuses For Today – February 2018

Hi there, guys! ❤ I hope you’re all doing well! It has been a full week since I’ve shown my face in the blogging world, and I am truly happy to be back here again to see how all of you are doing.

What has your week been like so far? Anything exciting been going on in your life lately? Please do let me know in the comments below!

In this evening’s update-esque post (of course that’s a word, haha), I thought that I would compile some of the focuses of my life recently, all into one beautiful post. ❤ I love knowing what I should daily be spending my time doing, as well as what I should be praying over, and maybe even thinking about, too. Everything that I end up doing on a regular basis slowly forms and greatly impacts me, and I desire to make sure every now and then that those things are good, honorable, and full of the Lord’s love.

As you know, I recently wrote about my priorities, organized for 2018 (click here),  but today’s post will do a better job of showing you some of the things I’ve been thinking about, dwelling on, and praying over these past few weeks, and into the present, too. Like I mentioned a moment ago, I’d love to know how you’ve been! If I haven’t commented on your blog recently, it is very probable that I’ll be showing back up in your notifications soon. 🙂 ❤

I hope you enjoy reading today’s update post. xx Let’s check this out!

My Focuses For Today –
February 2018

Learn.

This refers to a variety of things, which is really cool, because I’ll always love learning, haha! I recently fell back in love with the art of learning a foreign language, and my obsession with using Memrise to learn more Spanish has completely returned. I only have one full course of the language left to complete, and I’m not sure what I’ll do with myself after that. lol The other things I’ve been learning lately are all of the subjects I’m taking for my last semester of high school! Physics has been especially fun, because I really do love science now (I know, crazy right??!), and consumer finance has been a blast, too. I can’t wait to open my own bank account this year!

Grow.

I know, deep down in my heart, that the Lord has called me to a higher purpose than to simply reach a certain point of human kindness and then stop there. I am constantly growing, maturing and learning, and becoming inspired by His beautiful example all over again. He is teaching me things about myself I would have never realized were even part of me, and helping me conquer obstacles I had no idea existed. It is not His will for me to live in fear, sadness, or confusion … He is helping me work through every single negativity that my life has ever beheld. The more He teaches me, the more I realize that not only is this a constant process, but He is also more than willing to reach to the furthest depths of my aching soul to teach me of a love I can only begin to comprehend. I am thankful every day for His love, mercy, and patience, and showing as much of that kind of love as I can to those around me is my mission.

Minimize.

No, I’m not talking about closing an open internet tab on your computer, haha – although it is the same word! Recently, I have taken to seeing that the contents of my room are more than I’m happy with. That is, I’ve held on to things for a long time that I truly don’t even like anymore – whether that’s a book I read once, a shirt I thought I’d wear, or some wall art that I liked for a while. Just because it used to mean something to me doesn’t mean I am obligated to hold onto it now. With this realization has come a freedom I cannot explain, and I am in love with the idea of surrounding myself with things that I adore, and those things only. This doesn’t mean my lifestyle has or will change – not drastically, anyway … but I do know that the Lord is teaching me something through this, and I am willing to learn through the experience. ❤

Photograph.

Along with the lesson I mentioned learning above, my love for photography has been restored. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been going through, organizing, and uploading all the pictures I need to get printed, that I may savor the beautiful memories I experienced with my family over the past year or so of our lives. Once I get them printed, I’ll be all caught up, until I have to start the printing process all over again next year. xD Oh, well! It’s worth it ❤ I’m enjoying getting to take pictures of Isabella, and the weather’s been nicer lately, so we’ve been spending more time outside. I love taking pictures of my siblings out in the beautiful natural lighting, and I may have do a post soon with some of those photos.

Motivate.

One of the main points I’ve taken from a book I’ve been reading recently (still haven’t finished it, haha) is that children benefit deeply from praise and motivation they receive from those they admire. Because I’m the eldest of five children, I have the opportunity every day to be an encouragement and inspiration to them, and I don’t desire to neglect that purpose for a second. I also enjoy sharing inspiration with others through blog posts, and in conversations with my parents, as well – whenever I have the chance, I desire to be there for others, in having uplifting chats and sharing words of wisdom. It’s one of the reasons I’m here ❤

Savor.

Children really do have only one childhood, and I desire to be truly present in the early lives of my younger brothers and sisters. However, no matter where I am, I’d love to always be conscious of the fact that we only have the chance of living each individual day once, and that when a moment is lost in time, it’s impossible to experience it as we did in the moment it first occurred. Making sure that I’m not wishing the days away, and instead being happy wherever the Lord has me, is very important to me.

Live.

This should really be a permanent focus throughout the entirety of my life, for I’d love to always live with intention and purpose! Knowing and trusting that the Lord is caring for me, and also that my future is in His hands, gives me great peace of mind that I cannot begin to explain. I desire to dutifully take upon myself the aspects of my life that He gives me – which is all of it, as a matter of fact. Believing that He will get me to where I need to be, exactly at the right time, provides great hope for my future. ❤

Thank you so much for reading! I hope and pray that you’re having a great week so far, and that you have a great day or night. ❤ Happy Tuesday!

February Desk Tour ft. New Wall Decor!

February Desk Tour ft. New Wall Decor!

Hey there ❤ Happy Tuesday to you!! I am very happy to be able to share another desk tour post with you guys. 🙂 I’ve probably mentioned it before, haha, but these are by far my favorite kind of post to write! Taking the pictures for the tour, and then getting to talk about my little writing area, is always a lot of fun – and this time, I didn’t just redecorate the desk itself. I’ve redone the whole wall area, too!

Throughout the post, I’ve included non-sponsored links to the different products when a link was available. I’m not making any money, I just wanted to give you the chance to get these awesome pieces of decor for yourself!

I hope you enjoy this, and let me know in the comments below which part of my desk is your favorite! Now let’s take a look. ❤

Below is how it looks when I first walk up to it! The little fairy lights, new wall decor, and simple layout of what’s on the desk itself makes me really happy. I’ll show you around every area, so let’s check out the left side first.

Here is where I blog, watch videos, and many other various activities on my laptop! I first featured my Chromebook in the desk tour I did back in November, which you can check out here. 🙂

In this shot, you can also see my hair tie basket (yes, I have so many that I need a basket!!), which I got at Hobby Lobby. My cute little wall calendar is from Target, as are the adorable plant pictures! I made the tiny banner myself using scrapbook paper, I should share a tutorial sometime. ❤

Let’s look at the wall a bit more now!

I colored that aquatic mandala myself, and I just LOVE how it turned out! It was one of the many pages from a wonderful coloring book I got on Amazon for only a few dollars. They’re one-sided, printed on great quality paper, and the designs are fantastic quality! If you’re into coloring, I highly recommend that book.

Above the mandala, you can see a wooden sign of that wonderful verse from Philippians, and then my infamous tiny ‘Dream Big’ sign. I’m pretty sure it has ended up in every desk tour I’ve ever shared, haha!

Now let’s check out the signs to the right.

When I spotted this gorgeous print on Etsy a few weeks ago, I knew that I had to have it above my desk. Within minutes, I’d purchased it, and a few days later, I was able to frame it! I’ve always loved maps, and the fact that a quote by Robin Williams is on it, too – it was made for me, haha. I love it sooo much!

The other sign says ‘Grateful,’ and I’ve had it up at my desk for over a year now. 🙂

I’ve also had this cactus art at my desk for a year now, and I got it at Hobby Lobby!

Next, we have my writing utensils box. ❤

I haven’t had a chance to organize the inside yet, but I happily decorated the top with three new additions to my room! First, we have a tiny paper craft Minecraft ocelot, which is a game I love playing with my brothers. Those cats make really cute pets! Next to the paper cat, I put my new fake succulent, which is absolutely adorable. Beside that is my cactus plate, which my dad said looks like Larry the Cucumber with arms!! XD

The last thing on my desk are my notepad, and my new recipe box!

Over the past week or so, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed filling this beautiful tin box with awesome recipes my family and I have been enjoying for years. I don’t know what to write on the little card yet, haha, either my name or an ‘M.’ We’ll see!

Here’s how the box looks inside:

I found this box in the dollar section of Target, so definitely check your Target out if you’d like to get one, too!

Thank you so much for reading!! ❤ I hope you have a beautiful day!

A Year of Skies

A Year of Skies

There are few things I love to photograph more than the sky. I never cease to be amazed by its vastness, beauty, and extravagance – it reminds me of my Lord and Savior, Whom I love so much. ❤ It is both of these loves that has inspired this post! I went back through all of the pictures that I took in 2017 and found twelve different photos of the sky which were taken over the months. With these pictures, I found scripture from the Psalms to accompany them. ❤ I hope you enjoy!

– Psalm 63:4

“Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplications.”
– Psalm 28:6

– Psalm 24:1

Updated Desk Tour ~ Nov. 2017 ft. My First Laptop!

Updated Desk Tour ~ Nov. 2017 ft. My First Laptop!

Hi guys! I hope that you’re all having a beautiful day. (: For this Thursday’s post, I am so excited about sharing my new desk setup with all of you! Every few months, I change things around to keep the look fresh, so that even if I haven’t purchased any new decor, I can have a new setup to look at. I love getting creative with organizing the accents I usually keep on my desk, as well as the minimal wall art surrounding it. Let’s take our first look at this wonderful updated desk tour!

I can’t believe how different I was able to make it look using everything I already had, haha!

Well, except for one thing.

LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY!

Last week, my dad bought me my very first laptop!!! I could not be more grateful, and I absolutely love it. I now have my very own space to write blog posts, work on stories, organize photos, and anything else I might like to do! Organizing the top of my desk around the space where I keep it turned out successful (hence this post, hehe) – it is such an inspirational place to work now! I can’t wait to show you guys an up-close look at the little details. 🙂 So, without any further introduction, let’s jump right into this!

This is the first time that I have put my writing utensils box over to my right. It never really looked right before, but I love how it looks there now with the laptop to its left!

Let’s work our way over from left to right.

This is where I keep my blogging planner (one of my top favorite things), my copy of Invisible (one of the prettiest music albums ever), my beloved chickadee figurine, and my tiny ‘Dream Big’ sign. All of these things, especially the latter, always seem to have a place on my desk. Just above these things, on the wall behind them, you can see my printable calendar. I’m always needing to figure out which blog posts should go up when, so this is helpful!

Immediately to the right of these things are my laptop (*gentle hug*) and some inspirational quotes on the wall. You can also see my little whale mug, where I keep my hair ties, and the pretty purple computer mouse my dad got for me!

On the right side of the desk are the rest of the things on my desk, which I have featured before.

We have one of my all-time favorite picture frames, my writing utensils box, some notebooks, and a pretty greeting card.

Above my whole desk, one can see my usual assortment of wall decor!

That ‘grateful’ sign is so pretty. I never get tired of looking at my button collection, and I love that bit of cacti art!

That’s all for today, folks! I absolutely loved writing this post. I hope that you all enjoyed my updated desk tour (: I’ve mentioned it before, but they are definitely my favorite kind of post to write, as well as to read. I’ll see you guys again this weekend! ❤

Cultivating A Joyful Life | Accepting Changes of Plan

Cultivating A Joyful Life | Accepting Changes of Plan

I love planning road trips. Having something to look forward to, getting everything packed and ready, then setting out with my family to have a nice adventure away from home together – it’s always so much fun.

However, with there being so many people to account for and get ready to leave the house, and the wide array of things that must be put in backpacks and coolers and bags, and with all the decisions that have to be made on where we’re going and how long we’ll stay … there is sometimes more tension than joy.

My response to the difficulties in these situations is impatience and irritation. Being ready before everyone else makes me anxious to go.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

What’s the best way to respond when things don’t go exactly as we plan – or exactly how we’d like for them to go?

Hi guys! I hope that you’re all having a great day. 🙂 ❤ Today’s post, as you can see, is an addition to Cultivating A Joyful Life! Just like with the other topics I have covered in this series, this is something that I truly need to work on, and I actually am in my life at the time of writing this post. ❤

Falling into bad habits is unfortunately easy, and struggling to accept when situations go a different way than we desire for them to is a definite problem of mine. However, because I have been able to acknowledge this, I am now walking down the path to healing, making so much progress along the way. ❤

Before we go on, I would like to share with you how this topic relates to a very similar one in the garden of our hearts.

I am not much of a gardener – funny, as I write this series pretty weekly, haha; I prefer to cultivate spiritual gardens, rather than real ones. Anyway, I am most certain that there are occasions in a gardener’s life when a plant does not grow, or it dies, or it’s attacked by bugs, which would all be unpleasant surprises. However, there can also be happy surprises. Maybe the plant bounces back, or does much better than the gardener thought it would; all sorts of things won’t go as “planned” in a garden! And the same is true in the garden of our hearts.

There are many things that we have control over (to a point). This provides us with security and peace of mind. But what happens when something turns out differently, or slightly worse? Chaos may ensue. It definitely depends on the person, specific situation, and other details involved.

Today, I have shared with you some helpful tips that I’ve come up with to help you guys, as well as myself, to take everything in stride – to be able to accept changes of plan. ❤ I hope that you enjoy!

Accepting Changes of Plan –
My 5 Tips for Greater Peace

Before we get into this, I would like for you to first, if you will, imagine a recurring situation you’ve encountered before – one that always tries your patience. Whatever this might be for you (for me, it’s road trip preparations), I’d like you to keep this in mind while you read my little tips below. Applying them to this area of trouble in the future could help you so much! I know that it will for me.

When a situation comes up that you weren’t expecting …

1 ~ See the positivity in it.

There are so many beautiful surprises that come about because of altered plans! Just because something isn’t happening exactly as you thought it would, doesn’t mean that it won’t be a greater situation for you in the long run.

Dare to see what awesome future situations might come about because of the little differences.

2 ~ Exhibit patience.

On many different occasions in my life, I have been the first one ready when we’re going on a family road trip. It has been difficult for me to exhibit patience over a situation when I feel like others (or I know) are lagging behind.

Whether we leave later than planned because someone didn’t realize how late it was, something took longer than they realized, or an emergency came up, etc, the intent isn’t at all to make me upset. Life happens, and some people are simply more time-conscious than others.

Patience is such an important attribute to possess, and it’s something I’m always working at strengthening.

3 ~ Be understanding.

Like I mentioned above, it’s easy to start judging or placing blame when plans are changed. However, something important to keep in mind is that nobody is perfect, and we all need a bit of understanding sometimes.

The funny thing is, I was the last one to be ready for the last trip we went on – meaning that I was running around the house while everyone waited for me in the car. I hadn’t realized how long it would take me to do my makeup and finish packing my bag, so there I was – in the same situation members of my family have been in before.

I deeply appreciated that they didn’t get upset at me (much like I have at them in the past…). That is something I want to remember; we’ve all been there, and we all deserve a bit of understanding.

4 ~ Look at the situation differently.

When something doesn’t go as I hoped it would in my life, one of the things that really helps me is to look at what’s happening in a different light. Just because you leave the house later than you meant to, or you get stuck in traffic, or stuck in a long checkout line at the store – there are often good, unforeseen reasons for things going differently than we think.

Even if nothing is obvious at first, look for the positivity in your current situation.

5 ~ Do the best you can to make things better.

On the occasions that I have been ready to leave the house first, I’ll usually pace around and mentally will (lol) everyone else to also get ready. This is not all that useful, as I could have spent that time helping someone get ready.

Even when something appears out of our control, there are still ways we can make things better for everyone – if even in the smallest of ways. So, in my recurring situations, I could help someone pack their bag, or package up all the snacks (which is my usual job for these trips, lol), or help with my baby sister, etc.

It may be that in your situation, you can’t actually do anything to help out. If that’s the case, you may be able to be emotional support. It’s definitely something to keep in mind, so that you and anyone else involved can be at peace. ❤

Thank you so much for reading! I know that the tips I’ve listed above will be a huge help to me in the future. Definitely let me know in the comments below:

How do YOU cope with changes of plan?
