Blog Awards! ~ June 2017

Blog Awards! ~ June 2017

Helloooo everyone, and happy Tuesday to all of you! I hope that your day has gotten off to a great start or, depending on where you live, was already great. ❤ The post I’ve written for today is quite a long one, so bear with me! Feel free to skim through it; I don’t even want to go and proofread it right now ahaha

Because I’ve pretty much written about all of the blog awards out there by now, I don’t really like to write an individual post for each one that I receive. I appreciate each and every nomination, however, and I love answering the questions, etc … but giving each one a post of their own isn’t what I want to do anymore. So, for right now, I’m going to do a collective blog post once a month (not on any specific day) to stay caught up on accepting all awards and tags! I save pictures of awards I’ve been nominated for so that I’ll be sure to write about them. ❤

I hope that you enjoy learning a bit more about me! Let’s jump right into this. ❤

The Mystery Blogger Award

Nominator: Rhae Lee! Thank you so much!

3 Facts About Myself:

  1. I love taking online quizzes to learn silly things about myself. For example, ‘which hot celeb is perfect for you’? ‘What kind of donut are you’?
  2. I thoroughly enjoy listening to songs until I can’t stand them. It takes me a few years for me to love them all over again. It’s just how I work.
  3. Over the years, I’ve had sooo many blogs, because at one point, I thought it’d be fun to have one for each of my interests aha

Answers to Rhae Lee’s Questions:

  • What was the last funny thing you’ve said? Probably a witty comment back to my family; we were talking earlier.
  • What are your summer plans? Keep reading books for the A-to-Z Reading Challenge that I’m doing, continue learning Spanish, write more unique blog posts (I really love series, but individual posts are great, too), grow closer to my little brothers, and reach out to other bloggers!
  • Do you have a favorite YouTube channel? If so, what? Yes! That would either be Team Edge, Collins Key, or Jamie Grace. I really can’t choose between them.
  • What is your favorite song? It changes ever few hours aha I don’t lie, but right now, it’s “Best of Me” by Jordan Feliz. ❤ Edit: Now I’m kinda lovin’ “How Long,” also by Jordan Feliz.
  • What is your favorite thing to blog about? My faith, as well as the various subjects I’m interested in. Language learning, history, the history of language learning … haha, kidding on that last one.
  • How often do you blog? I usually have something to post every day of the week, although if I’m lacking on inspiration, I take Tuesdays and Wednesdays (and maybe even Mondays!) off.
  • How well do you manage your time? Pretty well! I always reach the end of the day feeling accomplished, unless something really stressful occurred. I don’t desire to brag in the least, but because of the way my life is right now, it’s easy to manage my time.
  • If you could have any job in the world when you grow up, what would it be? I have an intense desire on my heart to work with children. There’s this organization in Guatemala (you can visit its website, link in my sidebar), and I can really see myself working there one day. ❤ And yes, that is the job I dream of one day having, and it’s actually quite possible.
  • Do you go to school or are you homeschooled? I’m homeschooled! I always have been, and I enjoy it so much.
  • What is your favorite thing about school? Being required to learn about important things in life. Some subjects, I’m not too keen on, but the majority of them, at least throughout high school (biology, chemistry, history, etc) have been so much fun to learn about! I’m to the point where I’m using my free time in the afternoons and on weekends to continue my research of them. It’s pretty cool.

Amelia || Sofia || Lee || Donna || Jaylee

My Questions:
What is the main color scheme of your wardrobe?
Who’s your celebrity crush?
What’s the longest book you’ve ever read?
What are you favorite kinds of videos to watch on YouTube?
How long have you been blogging?
What is your favorite kind of post to write?
Do you like cooking/baking? Why or why not?
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change? Why?
What song lyric has really inspired you?
What’s your favorite type of bird, if any?

TheCramm Award

Creator: Liv at theCramm.

Nominator: Lee! ❤ Also, Pamela left her nominations open, so I jumped at the chance to answer her question, too, hah!

Three Things That Motivate Me To Blog:

  1. The world around me. I was recently talking to another blogger about how there is literally inspiration everywhere, especially when it comes to blog post writing!
  2. Having the ability to spread joy, positivity, and inspiration. My blog gives me the chance not only to have a place for others to come if they’d like to find something happy to read, but by focusing on keeping all posts, no matter how sad, to still have hope in the end, has been so beneficial. Challenging at times, definitely, but it has helped me so much emotionally, nonetheless.
  3. Other bloggers! Oh my goodness, I can’t even begin to say how inspiring it is to see all these awesome, inspiring posts pop up in my Reader every day! I am constantly blown away by y’all’s creativity! I know so many great bloggers … although, like I’ve said before, all bloggers are great. ❤

Three People Who Inspire Me To Blog:

  1. Mi madre. Hehe! Having a blogging buddy is so much fun, and getting to share this hobby in common with her has been an absolute blast.
  2. Jesus. Any time I’ve written a post about Him, or a post where it could have been negative but I found a way to still make it happy in the end, all leads me back to praising Him. He is the reason for all of my joy and peace. ❤
  3. My friend, Margaret. I appreciate all of her feedback; getting to read all the comments she leaves on my posts really inspires me to keep blogging. I know that even if a post wasn’t as well-received as I would have thought, she would still be there to read and comment, which is a huge blessing to me. ❤

One Thing to Improve the World:

Love. In the smallest, in the biggest, of ways, when we’re willing to go even just a small amount out of our way to extend a loving hand to someone in need, it really changes both the hearts of the giver and the receiver. It is beautiful to love, and also to be loved. ❤

My Answers to Lee’s Question + Pamela’s Question:

Lee: If you had to choose to not blog for a month, or not read/comment on anyone’s blog for a month, which would you choose and why? I would not blog for a month. Even though that would be hard, I would have an entire month to be able to plan really cool blog posts (there’d be no pressure to get them done by any deadline!), and still be able to keep up with all of the beautiful bloggers that I follow. I would really miss reading and supporting the blogs I visit on a daily basis. ❤
Pamela: What kind of change do you wish to inspire in the world? I would love to impress upon others the importance of kindness. While it is so easy to focus on ourselves and what we’re up to and how we’re feeling, it is equally as easy to make someone smile, to positively impact someone else’s life; sometimes, it just takes an extra, loving thought, and the outcome is always worth it.

T.R. Noble || Jirah Merizz || Kali || Pooja || Angela

My Question: What’s your favorite inspiring quote? Why does it inspire you?

The Real Neat Blog Award

Nominator: Andy and Jirah! Thank you so very much, girls!! x

My Answers to Andy’s Questions:

  • What is your spirit animal? While my patronus is a ginger cat, my spirit animal is definitely a chickadee; quick, cute (alright, maybe not haha), loud, and loves to sing.
  • What is your favorite classic movie? I have sooo many favorites! (I’m an old TV show/movie lover) There are a few Disney classics that mean a lot to me, such as Swiss Family Robinson and Pollyanna. Those were the first that came to mind.
  • What choice did you make that you’re really grateful for? Instead of focusing on learning French a couple of years ago like I had initially wanted to, I went ahead and began focusing on Spanish, instead, because my mom assigned that to me for school. I am so thankful for that decision (putting my all into that required subject) because it was a great way to begin learning a language that I now love so much! Español es maravilloso!
  • What is your favorite sea creature? Seahorses. Tiiiiny little ones!!
  • If shooting star wishes do come true, what will you wish for? A bright future full of security and love. ❤
  • If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do? Freak the heck out of my family. I’d go up close to them and whisper stupid things near their head and makeg them jump out of their skin.
  • What is it that you miss doing? Gymnastics were pretty fun back when I was a little kid. Although, so is swimming! Sad fact: I haven’t been to a pool in a few years. 😦 I might get to this summer, though! Woot woot!

My Answers to Jirah’s Questions:

  • What is your dream job or current job? Dream job – to volunteer in any way that I can in Guatemala. Current job – unemployed homeschooler hahaha
  • What motivates you in blogging? The different things that interest me, as well as all the bloggers that I know!
  • What is your favourite food? I love potatoes and cheese. Together, apart, on anything, with everything, cooked in any way. Yup.
  • What do you think is the book that relates to your life so much? Hamlet. Witty, ridiculous, and oftentimes dramatic. Although, Hamlet ends in the deaths of a lot of people … *facepalm*
  • Do you have a blogging schedule or do you post whenever you feel like it? Hahaha, both! I have specific things that I do Thursday through Sunday, then Monday through Wednesday are my free-to-write-whatever-I-like days. It’s quite a nice routine for me.
  • Do you have any pets at home? Nope! But I love little dogs, and I seriously want to hold and snuggle and pet every single one that I see.
  • What is your favourite beauty brand? e.l.f!

Cheila || Pamela || Grace || Maysa || Margaret

My Questions:

  1. From wherever you’re sitting, look to your right. Describe the first thing you see!
  2. Why did you choose the profile picture you’re currently using?
  3. Are you organized or disorganized?
  4. What’s one of your favorite words?
  5. Do you like Harry Potter? Why or why not?
  6. What makes you laugh?
  7. Are there any movies that have made you cry? If so, why?

The Blog-Aholic Award

Nominator: Kate, and Cheila, too! I just realized when going to write this post that you nominated me for this a while back. Oops! Thank you both, girls.

My Best Posts:

Most Popular: Awesome Blogger Award
My Personal Favorite: This is My Calling

6 Interesting Facts About Me:

  1. I have very vivid dreams, and the main thing that I remember from all of them is who was there (either my family, or favorite celebrities – what whaaat!), and where we were. The rest fades into oblivion.
  2. I’ve listed so many facts about myself on my blog now that I hardly have anything new and interesting left to share.
  3. I have a book review blog (shameless shoutout), although I must say that I don’t even like reviewing books that much. I started and still run that blog as a failed attempt to bring myself to enjoy writing reviews haha
  4. I have not changed my blog design at all since day one, which is crazy for me, as I used to be completely obsessed with changing everything around on past blogs.
  5. I love reading magazines occasionally, but I don’t ever buy them, nor do I have a personal favorite. That would be something to look into.
  6. Recently, I have come to realize that I have a strange obsession with pineapples. I like them in room décor, inspirational quotes, and the actual food, etc …

For this one, I’d like to nominate anyone who’s never gotten this particular award before! Just comment ‘Tag me!’ in the comments below!

Whew! That was quite a post. Thank you all so much for reading! If you are one of the nominees, no pressure! Don’t worry if you don’t want to do it, or it takes you some weeks or months to post about it; I don’t mind at all. 🙂 I would appreciate your acknowledgement of the nomination in the comments, haha, but aside from that, do what you like!

Have a blessed Tuesday, everyone!

2 Liebster Awards and 3 One Lovely Blog Awards!!!

2 Liebster Awards and 3 One Lovely Blog Awards!!!

Hello everyone! Today, I have written a very long award post. Lol!

Alright, it’s not that long. I did my best to combine the awards and keep it fun! And the funny thing is, they were the same two awards!

I really appreciate that all five of these awesome ladies thought of including me in their list of nominees, so I’d like to thank Sophia, Grace, and Kali for the One Lovely Blog Award, and Katherine and Jen for the Liebster Award! ❤ ❤ ❤

To keep this post tidy, I’ve broken it up into two parts: one for each award. For the ‘share 7 facts’ part of the One Lovely Blog Award, I’ve made a neat list of 21 facts about myself many of you might not know! Then, I will answer Katherine’s and Jen’s questions for the Liebster Award. 🙂 Here we go:

One Lovely Blog Award

21 Facts About Me:

  1. I own an electric guitar, but I have yet to learn how to play.
  2. I love all the droids from Star Wars because they are so cute and cool!
  3. I have a video on YouTube that has over 13k views, even though I never promoted it, haha. Thank you, search terms!
  4. I’m not afraid of snakes, because when I was younger, I loved them and was absolutely fascinated by them. So, I still am. I respect them and give them space, but I highly admire them from a safe distance. (Except for Black Mambas. Just no.)
  5. I don’t wear glasses, but sometimes I wish I do – for aesthetic reasons. I should probably just get some fake specs and call it a day hahaha
  6. I’ve been wearing women’s clothes and shoes since I was 9 years old, because I just kept getting taller and taller! That finally stopped a few years ago; I’ve been the same height since then lol
  7. My favorite color changes all the time. Right now, I like green. And purples! Not usually together, though.
  8. When I was little, I sung very off-key, but by the age of 12 or so, I started being able to sing much better. Because of this …
  9. I got 300 followers in less than a week on the Sing! Smule app. Crazy, man! Everyone was wanting to do duets with me haha
  10. From 2011 to 2015, I kept journals and wrote in them all the time, but since then, I’ve turned to blogging to record my thoughts.
  11. For my 10th birthday, one of my presents was a portable CD player. I realize now how geeky that was, but man, how I loved that thing! Until it stopped working, at least.
  12. I love doing character impressions, all sorts of characters – especially Batman. (Will Arnet edition.) Just ask my family; I love trying to sound like people from movies!
  13. I love faking a British accent. Maybe it’s just me, but I think I do it quite well.
  14. At the beginning of each month, it takes me a few days to change the calendars in my room. I’m so organized about everything else, so why the procrastination with calendars?? It’s so strange haha!
  15. When I was little, I used to collect purses. Goodness, I had so many.
  16. My favorite video games are all the Lego ones, Just Dance, and the official Wii games (Sports/Sport Resort/Party). They’re all so much fun!
  17. When I was the ages of 10 through 12, I was obsessed with learning about birds. I still love them now, but not half as much as I did haha!
  18. I love making witty jokes and quick comebacks, and my mom said I’d actually be a great comedian. Personally, I think I work better in the moment, not with scripting stuff out. It’s still a nice thought 🙂
  19. I looooove keeping a tidy room, and when stuff piles up, I actually feel happy about having the chance to clean up hahaha! How weird is that?
  20. My favorite thing to do before falling asleep is read my Bible. It helps me to calm down before going to bed, and it always gives me something positive to think about as I drift off to sleep.
  21. I love world maps, whether that’s on a globe, wall print, or something else; they just make me happy. 🙂

The Liebster Award

Katherine’s Questions and My Answers:

  1. What would you say you are best at? Photo editing! I’ve been doing it for about three years now, so I really know how it all works, and I love being creative in that way.
  2. What are you worst at? Geometry. Eww.
  3. Say you can move anywhere in the country right now – where would you go? North Carolina – my best friend lives there. 🙂
  4. What’s the longest piece of writing you’ve done? What was it for? Thirty thousand words, for Camp NaNo 2016!
  5. Can you stand on your head? Your hands? My hands, yes, if I feel quite daring, but I don’t like the sensation of all that weight on my head, so no on that one.
  6. If you could be an Olympic athlete, what sport would you choose? Ooh, I like this question! I think … uneven bars. I don’t know why, but that looks like so much fun.
  7. Ghosts – real or figments of our imagination? I think that this one depends on the person. For me, they’re just of the imagination.
  8. What’s in your heaven? Love. Pure, all-encompassing love. ❤
  9. If you were only allowed two condiments from now until death, what would you choose? Mayonnaise and ketchup! Don’t know what I’d do without those two haha
  10. Would you rather live in a desert or a rainforest? Rainforest, definitely! I think I’d survive longer there than somewhere where there probably won’t be any water, lol.

Jen’s Questions and My Answers:

  1. What are the things that made you cry? The death of my guinea pig, when old friends have hurt my feelings, and when I’m feeling really emotional for various reasons.
  2. Have you experienced bragging others? If you mean when people brag, then yeah, and it’s not fun to hear haha
  3. Chocolates or macha? Chocolate, always!
  4. Doctor or Engineer? Engineer, even though I would love to be a doctor, but I’m too squeamish.
  5. Reading or Watching? Reading!!! Although my goodness, I love watching, too.
  6. Have you experienced sleepovers? Once, sadly. I mean, it was an awesome sleepover, but it’s sad that I’ve only been to one!
  7. Have you experienced drinking alcohol? Alas, no. But the day I turn 21, I’m highly interested in trying different types of wine!
  8. Will you sacrifice something for your love? Yes, for my loved ones. A hundred times over, yes.
  9. What was the worst drama in your life? Probably when my brother was stuck on the chainlift at the very top of a roller coaster, at a 90° angle. It lasted for almost ten minutes, and when the ride finally resumed its course, everything was fine, but I cried for a few minutes from sheer relief.
  10. Have you fought something for your love? I’m not sure. No, I don’t think I have.
  11. Do you have trust issues? Ah yes, deeply. I have been hurt many times, so it’s hard for me to trust friends until they really prove themselves trustworthy. And when they do, I trust them passionately 🙂

Thank you so much, girls! I really enjoyed thinking up all those facts, as well as answering your questions. 😀

For the rest of today’s post, I’m going to be answering questions from the Get To Know Me Tag! Two bloggers whose blogs I honestly love SO much – Pamela’s and Angela’s, hi, guys! – recently did this themselves, and they both very kindly left the tag open to anyone interested. I am one of those people. So, let’s just jump right into it!

This can be informative for all readers and anyone else interested. However, it is especially helpful for any new readers who have recently started following my blog!

While the questions below will definitely help you guys to get to know me better, if there’s anything else you’d like to know about me, be it about blogging, or me personally, I would love to answer all of your questions! (Wiithin reason, lol.) If I get enough questions, I will do a Q&A, but if not, I’ll answer your comments directly. 🙂

Leave any questions you have for me in the comments below. Whether I do a Q&A, or answer your comment directly, I will reply!

The Get To Know Me Tag

Vital Stats

Name: Maggie
Nicknames: Maggie actually is my nickname – my first real name is Valerie (after my mom!) – but I’ve also been called Mag, Mags, and Moe by my brothers. No one else has nicknamed me yet, but I love nicknames. I’m always up for new ones!
Birthday: April 10th
Star Sign: Aries. Almost didn’t spell it right.
Occupation: Big sister, homeschooled student, and full-time blogger!

Hair Color: Dark brown, with auburn streaks in the sun.
Hair Length: Medium going on long, I’d think – it’s a few inches below my shoulders.
Eye Color: Dark brown; my brother used to jokingly say they are black.
Best Feature: That would either be my eyelashes, which are long and full without any mascara, or my hair, which is thick and wavy and, when I don’t feel like cutting it all off in rage, is quite beautiful. #thickhairprobs
Braces: Ah no, but I need them.
Piercings: Ear lobes when I was 8, but I didn’t like the experience so now I don’t have any piercings.
Tattoos: Nope, nor will I ever. Temporaries are loads of fun, though.
Right or Left Handed: Right, although I’m ambidextrous in many different ways. (I bat left, bowl with my right/left, pitch with my right, open bottles with my left, etc)

me up in Michigan in 2004. hahaha!

Real Holiday: I went to Michigan with my family to visit my great-grandparents, but I was almost four years old, so I hardly remember a thing. (See that picture above? Haha I was a little derp!)
Best Friend: There was this girl named Lacey, but I honestly can’t remember how often we got together, as I was so young, but I do remember how troublesome her attitude was at times hahaha!
Award: None, sorry.
Sport: Nada. Unless gymnastics count! But all I took were tumbling classes as a little kid.
Concert: Casting Crowns. Best night of my life. (One of the best, at least!)

TV Show: Poirot. The music. The actors. The settings. The plots. The filming. I can’t rave about this wonderful show enough.
Color: This always changes; it’s very strange. Right now, it’s green – light, soft shades of green, mind you. Different accents in my room reflect this truth, as does the design of my blog.
Songs: Leeland’s album The Great Awakening. All of it. ❤
Restaurant: Cracker Barrel! Good ole southern cookin’ hahaha
Shop: A fantastic second-hand store that almost always has half-off sales going! I’ve gotten great jeans and beautiful shirts from there over the past year, or so.
Books: The Bible, any Poirot novel, and anything else that catches my fancy at the library.
Shoes: My Nike Lunar Converge tennis shoes; they’re extremely comfortable, and I love the colors! (Dark gray body, white sides, and mint accents)

Want Children: Yes. However, I think that when I do someday, it will be through adoption. ❤ ❤ ❤
Want To Be Married: Yes yes yes! To the right man, in God’s perfect timing.
Careers In Mind: Something with books, or maybe with food. But the one thing that I’m chasing after in life when it comes to careers is whatever the Lord has put on my heart, and that right now is to one day serve Him in Guatemala. ❤

Thanks for reading, guys! And thank you SO much again for 400. ❤ ❤
