73 Questions with Maggie (Vogue Inspired)

73 Questions with Maggie (Vogue Inspired)

Vogue has a fun way of interviewing celebrities on YouTube: by asking them seventy-three rapid-fire questions. I’d never thought about answering questions that way in blog post format, so I’m very happy that someone turned it into a tag us bloggers can participate in! 😀 I’ve been thinking about participating in this fun blog tag since Dawn @ Drawing Closer to Christ posted about it on her blog – thanks for inviting me to join in, Dawn!

He Heals My Brokenness {Blog Tag}

He Heals My Brokenness {Blog Tag}

Hello! ❤ I hope you’re having a beautiful day. 🙂 I’ve been working on coming up with post ideas recently, and one topic I’ve wanted to write about for a long time are the different things the Lord has rescued me from. When I realized that I could incorporate this post idea into a new blog tag, that’s what I decided to do!

Liebster Award {Ceremony}

Liebster Award {Ceremony}

Three awards in one post can definitely be considered a ceremony, because my answers got quite lengthy. Haha, I hope you enjoy reading! This post was made possible by Maysa, Ara, and Hanne – you should go check out these lovely girls’ blogs if you get the chance!

Liebster Award {Ceremony}

The Rules

  1. Acknowledge the blog who nominated you for this award.
  2. Answer 11 questions the blogger gave you.
  3. Give 11 random facts about yourself.
  4. Nominate 11 blogs.
  5. Notify them.
  6. Give them 11 questions to answer.

(I’m going to give eleven facts total instead of thirty-three, because who has time for that?? hah)

11 Facts About Me

  1. Nearly everything out in nature makes me sneeze.
  2. My favorite emojis are the laughing one and the two little pink hearts (especially when they’re combined!).
  3. I loooove maps; I currently have three on display in my room!
  4. I have more notebooks and other stationary than I can use.
  5. I love dancing and would love to learn ballroom dancing someday.
  6. I’ve never worn a hoop skirt, but I really, really want to.
  7. I adored reading the Garfield comics growing up.
  8. I have a small collection of Folkmanis puppets.
  9. Writing letters makes me very happy, but I don’t have any pen pals.
  10. I quote songs and movies probably more often than I have normal conversations.
  11. I can barely think of anymore facts to give about myself because I’ve shared so many recently.

Maysa’s Questions + My Answers:

  1. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be? Ireland! I’ve been saying this for years, and I’ll probably keep saying it for many years more haha
  2. What is the story behind your blog name? One week before I created this site, the Lord gave me peace about my future in regards to missions. (see here) I was thinking so much about Guatemala at the time, so it made sense for me to incorporate it into my name: Dreaming of Guatemala!
  3. Do you have a summer winter goal? If so, what is it? (I’m answering these questions so late, I’ll change it to ‘winter,’ welp.) I’d love to see snow this winter, but I can’t exactly control the clouds, so I’ll just hold on to hope haha
  4. What are your top three song obsessions right now? ‘Happier’ by Marshmello & Bastille, ‘Centuries’ by Fall Out Boy, and ‘Wait It Out’ by Jamie Grace. The difference in genres is killing me.
  5. What stresses you out the most throughout the year? Probably my fear of getting sick. But then, when I’m actually sick, it isn’t as bad as I think it will be. I SHOULD GET A HOLD OF MY EMOTIONS.
  6. What is your dream job? Stand-up comedian. *flashes you a funny grin*
  7. How long have you been blogging? Since I was eleven, so that’s eight years. WOW.
  8. Do you have a t.v series that you just can’t miss? Nothing currently airing, but I Love Lucy is a show I’ll always come back to.
  9. What is your favorite thing to do (other than blog)? Sing. Why? I don’t know.
  10. What inspired you to begin your blog? I had joined a site called HomeschoolBlogger when I was ten, and the main idea of it was for everyone to have their own blog. I don’t have that blog anymore, but it definitely put me on the blogging path haha
  11. Is there a quote that is special to you? Oh goodness, so many. Here’s one: “Let go of the illusion that it could have been any different.”

Ara’s Questions + My Answers:

  1. If you could take a trip anywhere, where would you go? Oh wow, girls, your first questions are pretty much the same lol! Since I already said Ireland, I’d go somewhere new in Tennessee. (I’ve already been a few times.)
  2. What TV shows do you like watching? Pretty much any sitcom that I can get a hold of the blooper reels. Seinfeld, Mork & Mindy, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, etc.
  3. Do you have a favorite holiday? Not really; I love all the ones I celebrate with my family.
  4. Is it Pee-can or Peh-cahn, or do you say it differently? PEH-CAHN. I about lose it when I hear things pronounced starkly different from how I do, haha
  5. Do you want kids when you are older? Yes! My dream number is four, but hey, I’ll be happy with all the kids the Lord gives me. (Unless it’s like eight of ’em, or something … uh … )
  6. Where do you want to live in the future? Possibly Tennessee, but I’d also be happy to stay in Georgia. (Although if someone ever offers me a hamlet in Ireland, I’ll take that and leave my entire life behind.)
  7. What is your favorite pastime? Blogging is definitely a big one, but I also love watching movies.
  8. Are you an avid reader? Yes … ? Lol, I used to be, but my interest in books has dwindled significantly over the years.
  9. What are 5 random words you think of when looking at the ceiling? Oh, uh … ‘design,’ ‘blank,’ ‘clouds,’ light,’ ‘nothing.’ Do I have an empty brain?
  10. What makes the best house color? For the exterior, a dark earth tone with lighter earth accents. On the inside, whites and blues are very inviting, but it’s also nice to have themed rooms.
  11. Pickles or olives? Pickles, all. the. way.

Hanne’s Questions + My Answers:

  1. What is your favorite winter tradition? Praying for snow. *sad laugh*
  2. What is your favorite quote? Here’s another one: “Choose people who choose you.”

  5. What’s a name that you love but won’t ever use for your kids? I’ve loved Lysandra for a long time, because it reminds me of a Shakespeare character. I wouldn’t name my kid that, though; I just liked it for a book character haha

50 Questions To Get To Know Yourself {Part Two}

50 Questions To Get To Know Yourself {Part Two}

Here’s part two of this post! I’ll be answering the second set of 25 questions to learn more about myself, as well as share better insight into who I am. ❤ Click here to read the article that provided these questions.

50 Questions To
Get To Know Yourself
{Part Two}

26. What inspires you the most?

When I’m reading the Bible and a verse stands out to me.

27. What do you think people misunderstand about you?

When I don’t participate in conversations. I’ll often do more listening than I do actively adding to what’s being talked about, and it’s usually because there’s not enough break in the conversation for me to contribute my thoughts. I’m not usually confident enough to say to whomever is present, “Hey, I’d like a turn talking now.” But really, that’s what I’d have to do if I want to be heard. So, people don’t understand my silence.

28. List your top three accomplishments.

I honestly have no idea what to answer this question with right now. Call me back later, haha

29. What is your favorite childhood memory?

Well, I used to love watching my sweet guinea pig, Oreo, run around the living room when she had time out of her cage. It was so much fun to watch. (Just as long as we didn’t lose her under the couch…)

I loved that girl!

30. What were the most recent moments in your life when you felt truly happy?

*tilts head and squints eyes a bit* Why are these questions stumping me right now? Alright, let’s see – when this post got a good response (thanks, guys!), and enjoying reading different books.

31. What lesson have you learned in life that is the most valuable?

The Lord gives us enough strength to face each day, and it’s up to us to trust Him with our future. ❤

32. Has there been a time where you felt inadequate in any situation? What did you do?

Like I mentioned, allowing people to talk over me. Being too polite has cost me instances when I could have engaged in past conversations, and I really regret that.

33. What is one obstacle that you have overcome and are extremely proud of?

Being absolutely terrified of all things medical. I still don’t like them (like, um, at all haha), but realizing how very necessary procedures are (and how blessed I am that they even exist!) has gotten me through what would have been impossible situations. I’ve been able to have different minor surgeries (and my first major surgery) without going berserk.

34. What advice would you give your younger self?

The Lord has you in His hands. Yeah, it may not seem like it at times – in fact, a lot of times, it really won’t – but He’s got you. I promise. Just because you’re not getting exactly what you want right now doesn’t mean that He doesn’t have absolutely beautiful plans for you!

35. If you could go back and do something differently in your life, what would it be?

Trusted in the Lord more. Then, whatever came my way wouldn’t have hurt so much.

36. What is something that you do now, that you never thought you would?

Have a blog with more than ten followers. True story. #AnythingIsPossible

37. What was one of the happiest moments in your life?

Meeting my baby sister, Elizabeth! I’d been wanting a sister for years.

38. What have you learned about yourself in the past few years?

Just how strong I am. Well, when I rely on the Lord’s strength, that is – He’s helped me through DOZENS of things these past few years, probably more than I realize. So, check that – how strong I am in the Lord.

39. What do you want to achieve by this time next year?

Eh, all the little goals I’m working toward right now. I’d also love to have more confidence in conversations! (That’s an ongoing theme in this post, I think…)

40. What do you want to achieve in five years?

Well uh, I really don’t know what I’ll even be doing in a year … ? The only thing I can think of right now (mind you, it’s feeble) is fluency in ASL. That would be fantastic.

41. What is holding you back from your future accomplishments?

Money?? lol nah, I’m putting all my time, energy, and focus into being the daughter and big sister my family needs. So, nothing, really – I’m just trusting in the Lord’s timing to lead me.

42. What do you think your purpose is in life?

To love the Lord and fulfill HIS purposes for me. ❤

43. How would you fulfill that purpose?

44. List three things you want to accomplish this year.

I’m keeping my resolutions/goals/aspirations for 2019 private.

45. What steps are you taking to achieve your goals right now?

Complete secrecy. *slow nod*

46. Are your habits helping or hindering you from reaching your goals?

Helping! The mindful living challenge alone has helped me immensely.

47. What legacy do you want to leave on the world?

When people think of me, I want them to remember enjoying my presence, how I could make anything funny. When people look at my life as a whole, I’d love for them to be inspired by my love and affection for people.

48. What do you expect from yourself?

Too much.

49. What area in your life needs improvement?

All of it. Haha, sarcasm aside, how I look at myself.

50. What steps are you taking to make those improvements?

Complete secrecy. *double take* Wait, I think I already used that line…

Oh, boy. Fifty deep questions over the course of a week!! I really enjoyed answering them, though ❤
