Little Accomplishments – February 23rd, 2018

Hi there, and Happy Friday to you guys!! ❤ I hope you’re doing well. 🙂 Last night, I decided to start putting together a Little Accomplishments post for today, so as you can see, that’s what I’ll be sharing with you! Compiling one of these from time to time is so enjoyable, because as I’ve stated before, I love celebrating all of life’s joys – no matter how small! (Edit: I just noticed I put ‘January’ in the title instead of ‘February’ – my goodness! That just shows how time flies, haha!)

On a side note, I wanted to quickly mention that today is my parents’ anniversary! ❤ This is a really special date for them, and for our whole family, as well. I couldn’t ask for a better friend than my mom, or a greater supporter than my dad – they both mean so much to me, and are my two biggest role models. I’m extremely thankful for all that they do for us! 🙂

Alright, now I’m ready to talk about today’s post! If you are, too, let’s check out what I’ve gotten done this past week. xx Happy reading!

Little Accomplishments –
February 23rd, 2018

This past week, I …

  • got all of last year’s pictures printed. (I’ve been needing to do this for a while, so you have no idea how much joy this accomplishment brings to me!! Knowing all those pictures will be printed, without the possibility of being lost on our family computer forever [lol], gives me such peace of mind. I’m looking forward to their arrival in the mail so I can sort them into my photo boxes [which you can see below].)

  • cleaned up my whole closet. (Another thing that’s been long in coming – I’m very happy that it’s finished now! I’ll be getting a dresser soon to keep my clothes in, instead of stacking them in my closet, because that hasn’t been working very well. Until then, I’ve created a nice setup, which I’m finally content with!)
  • worked on more blog posts. (Recently, I’ve been going through so much with my family – both good, and the occasional bad – that I didn’t have enough space left in my thoughts to compose a good blog post much of the time. However, this past week, I’ve enjoyed sitting down and coming up with ideas to then eventually write about on my blog. I hope you guys will enjoy them, too!)
  • got my very first camera. (Ahhhh I’m so excited!!! It just arrived in the mail this past Tuesday, and in the days since, I’ve thoroughly been enjoying trying out its many settings and getting familiar with how it works. After extensively browsing on Amazon, I found that the Kodak Pixpro AZ361 was the best choice for me. I have to tell you, the ease of use, fantastic image/video quality, and durability of this camera are an absolute steal at its current price! If you’re in the market for a camera, I’d highly recommend looking into this one. ❤ )

Thank you so much for reading!! I hope that you have an absolutely fantastic weekend. ❤ Before I go, however, I have a quote of the day that I’d like to share with you.

“You matter in God’s eyes.”

I pray that you’ll never forget that beautiful fact!

Have a great day!

Little Accomplishments – January 5th, 2018

Hi there guys, and happy Friday!! ❤ We’ve made it to the first weekend of the new year! It has honestly been an amazing first week of 2018, and I’m looking forward to seeing what else this year has in store.

What have you gotten done in the last week or so? I’d love to know about it! In today’s post, I will be covering a bit of what I’ve been up to lately, especially in this past week. I hope that you enjoy!

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

This past week, I …

  • changed my desk setup. (I love finding new ways to make my writing desk a bright and cheery workplace for myself, and the current theme I have going is a beautiful green/blue scheme with lots of inspirational notebooks around! I made the little banner above my laptop myself with scrapbook paper and a bit of twine. And yes, if you were wondering, I’m challenging myself to not complain the first week of this year, haha. So far, so good!)

  • caught up on language learning review. (This is always a joy, especially if I’m in a productive mood! I now know some new words in Spanish [relating to emotions and feelings], and I also learned some more French basics.)
  • strung little lights up in my room again. (I did this in December, and I couldn’t be more happy with how they look! So pretty and peaceful. ❤ )

  • found some awesome books at the library. (This was accomplished yesterday, when my dad dropped be off at a library I don’t usually go to! I found new fiction to read, as well as a few interesting nonfic books, too. I find that if I share what I want to read before I do so, I end up not reading those books, so I’ll talk about them in a later post after I’ve finished them, haha!)
  • continued to eat mindfully and exercise most days. (I’m not at the point quite yet where I can easily resist temptation, if that makes sense, haha, but I am doing much better than I used to. Portion sizes are getting easier to stick to, and I love power-walking now!)
  • posted on my blog every day in the new year (so far). (Haha, this was actually unintentional, and I have no idea if I’ll keep this up, but wouldn’t that be awesome!)

  • met some new bloggers. (I’m always excited to meet new people in the blogging world, and I’ve gotten to talk to a fair amount this past week! That has been a joy, and I can’t wait to get to know you guys more. 🙂 )

Thank you for reading, guys! I hope you have a blessed weekend. ❤

Accomplishments Round-Up – October 6th, 2017

Accomplishments Round-Up – October 6th, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Welcome to this version of Little Accomplishments!

Why hello there, everyone! Happy Friday 🙂 I am very happy to share this post with you guys today. I’ve been meaning to mention some of the accomplishments I shared below in previous posts, but never ended up doing so, so they have been included today.

I made the title a bit different than normal to include some accomplishments that were more than ‘little,’ as some people found it strange that I would list huge, exciting things as seemingly unimportant! That wasn’t my intention, nor was I trying to brag, but that’s how some saw it. So, without further ado, let’s look at these accomplishments!

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

Recently, I …

  • caught up on a month’s worth of Spanish. (After keeping up with lessons of language learning nearly every day for all of 2017, I gave myself an unofficial break in September. It was much-needed, and I was more than happy to come back this past week! I caught up on missed reviews and aced [most] of them, and learned a few new words. For the most part, though, I went back and relearned ones I hadn’t in a while.)
  • reached 1,100+ followers on my blog. (I would like to give you guys a huge thank you!!!! ❤ I was SO excited when I got the notification sometime last month that Dreaming of Guatemala had reached 1K. It’s the first blog of mine that has gotten anywhere near that number!! I had no idea how to celebrate, so I didn’t mention it, but I want you guys to know that I am extremely grateful that you take the time to read my posts and leave such sweet comments. You always brighten my day! xxx Again, thank you so much!)

  • organized all of my digital photos. (I am extremely happy about this one!! I’ve been meaning to do it for months, and I finally did it. Pictures are organized, others were gone through, and I named all of the videos I have, dating them, as well. It took a few weeks, but it was worth it!)
  • furnished my room for the fall. (I absolutely love it!! I’ll do a post on that soon, since I got some nice pictures 😀 )
  • learned the minor chords on the piano. (After teaching myself to play How Long by Jordan Feliz, I caught on to how the minor chord scale works and taught myself all of them, too. While I’m happy to have those memorized, practicing chords and scales and parts of songs is the boring part of learning an instrument, even though it’s definitely essential, haha!)

  • got my October post schedule in order. (I haven’t done that in quite a while; I would rough it and just share posts as they came to me, lol [which I still enjoy doing sometimes, actually!], but I also appreciate having a tidy post schedule. Next week is already all figured out! Woop-woop!)
  • baked some new treats. (The first one I made went up in a post earlier this week, and the next one will appear on my blog sometime this month, too! They tasted great; my family and I very happily ate every bite haha)
  • watched ‘Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.’ (Since taking the subject in school where I watch movies to then analyze, I have found a few film treasures along the way – movies that I could easily watch over and over again for pleasure, haha! The two that stand out to me the most are the films with Paul Newman and Robert Redford; ‘The Sting’ and now ‘Butch Cassidy.’ They are both fantastic actors, and them being a duo in two different movies has been such a blast to watch!! I should probably do a review of both of those movies, as I have so much I could say about them haha)

Little Accomplishments – September 22nd, 2017

Little Accomplishments – September 22nd, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Welcome to this week’s Little Accomplishments!

Hello there, guys! Happy first day of fall! How have you been? Hope you’re all having a beautiful week. 💜

I have been working on lots of things outside of the blogging world lately, which explains why I haven’t been posting as much as I usually do. Going from posting almost daily to about once a week was a big shift, and also unintentional, as a matter of fact. However, I have been having such a good time doing other activities (including working on upcoming blog posts!) that I haven’t missed it too much, which is awesome, because at times, all I’ve wanted to do is blog, haha! (Many of us know how that feels.)

I have been doing my best to still comment on blogs most days, which has been enjoyable because I love reading what you guys write about. I know that I have missed some posts, and I’m sorry about that – over the next week, you’ll probably see me popping up in your notifications!

This Little Accomplishments was a last-minute post idea last night; I put it all together and had it ready for the morning, so it only includes the accomplishments that stand out to me most from the previous week.

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

Last week, I…

  • started writing in a journal again. (I have been wanting to do this for well over a year, which is why this made me so happy! I went to TJMaxx a few weekends ago and fell in love with the journal I shared in the picture below. It represents me so well, and I’m enjoying recording my thoughts in it.)

  • found new nonfic books to enjoy reading. (Because I have been browsing my local libraries’ selection of books for years, I have pretty well figured out which sections I enjoy the most, and have fun returning to those kinds of books from time to time … however, I have found recently that different self-help books [specifically on perfectionism, psychology, happiness, and inspiration], which is a category I’ve never browsed before, has turned out to be quite a joy to read! I’m planning on sharing my reviews of some of these books in the near future. Pictured below are a few that I found at the library recently and can’t wait to delve into!)

  • began watching more ASMR videos. (Starting in 2013, I loved watching ASMR [relaxing] videos, but in the years since then, my interest in viewing them has diminished, then peaked, then fallen back down again, in a very uneven pattern. lol However, I now have three different people that regularly upload new videos, and they make me so happy to watch, so that has been what I do most evenings recently! If you guys are interested in watching some of these relaxing videos, I highly recommend GentleWhispering, Tingting ASMR, and Scottish Murmurs ASMR. xx )
  • fell in love [again] with Rend Collective’s music. (The music I listen to on a regular basis is always changing, and for some reason, I stopped listening to this awesome Irish Christian band’s music for a while. When I added their album to my account on Amazon Music a few weeks ago, they’ve been on repeat ever since. More Than Conquerors is one of my all-time favorite songs, and my newest favorite of theirs is Boldly I Approach! My phone’s current lockscreen is proof of my rekindled love for Rend Collective’s music, as the words on it are from their song Burn Like A Star! I made the lockscreen myself, by the way.)

Little Accomplishments – August 25th, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Hi guys! Welcome to this week’s Little Accomplishments!

I hope that you’re all doing well, and that your weekend has gotten off to a beautiful start! So, did you guys know that next Friday is September 1st??!! I truly cannot figure out where in the world 2017 is speeding off to! I mean, why is it in such a hurry? Haha!!

Whether your year has been a whirlwind or it couldn’t be dragging any slower, I hope that everyone’s last week of August is a great one. xx

Oh, and I wanted to add something that I noticed on my dashboard this morning – this post makes my 200th post on this blog!! 💖 thank you guys so much for coming along with me this far ☺️

Alright, let’s jump right in to this Little Accomplishments! And as always …

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

These past couple of weeks, I …

  • learned the major piano chords. (Yas!!!! For some reason, this took me quite a bit of time to look up online and figure out, but once the light bulb in my head lit up, I had them memorized within two days! I’m so happy! Minor chords, here I come.)

  • caught up on Spanish. (As always. It’s essential, important, and considerably time-consuming, lol!)

  • began learning Portuguese. (WHAT?! Cool, huh? I want to know the basics of Portuguese because 1) I’m interested in learning the differences between this language and Spanish, 2) I love learning new languages, and 3) I’d love to have a basic understanding of it in the event that I meet someone who speaks it! For now, I’m learning Brazilian Portuguese, but I’d be all for learning Portugal Portuguese at some point, too.)
  • got back into the swing of blogging. (After my blogging break, then battling strep throat, it took me longer than I would have wanted to catch up on all things blogging, but I’m finally feeling on top of everything again! I have lots of different post ideas, I’m caught up on blog reading, I’ve interviewed some bloggers, and I have met some lovely new people, too!)
  • watched Finding Dory. (It was soooo sweet, guys! Finding Nemo was the first movie I really ever loved – little 4-year-old me was obsessed with it! – and the kid in me really approves of how they handled this sequel so many years later. It’s funny, the animation’s great, and Dory was fantastic. I love her character!)
  • finished reading The Merchant of Venice. (Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. The love stories were great, but the main plot dragged and also made me kind of nervous. lol!)
  • got a new app to track water intake. (I stopped using Plant Nanny a while ago because it wouldn’t let me customize how much water I needed daily; they gave me a set, unattainable goal based on height and weight. :/ However, I found a new water tracking app that I’m enjoying using right now called, simply, Water Tracker!)
  • organized my Goodreads shelves. (I love having a place to see what books I’ve loved reading, as well as books I’m looking forward to reading someday! Everything had gotten a bit jumbled, so cleaning out and organizing the digital shelves on my Goodreads account was something I’ve been needing to do for a while.)

Little Accomplishments – August 11th, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Welcome to this week’s Little Accomplishments!

Why hello there, everyone! My goodness, how in the world is it Friday again? 😂 Does anyone have the answer? lol! 💚 Anyway I hope that you’re all doing well and are as excited as I am that the weekend has come back around for us to enjoy! 😀

I have been working on so many different things things recently. Those have mainly been music-, blog-, and organization-related, and as you all know I love those three things SO much, so life has been a blast!! After that bout of sickness my family and I went through, it has been a huge blessing to have an enjoyable week that was pretty much back to normal for us. Among the things I accomplished, I was able to do something I’ve never done before (it’s the second thing mentioned in the list below – check it out!), all of my 12th grade school subjects have been lots of fun and very educational (hush Maggie, your nerd is showing hahaha #homeschoolerforever), and … well, I’ll keep talking about how life has been for the rest of this post! I won’t continue to ramble on right here! 😂💜

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

This past week, I…

  • completed Spanish 5 on Memrise. (YAS! I’m always excited when I finish another level of these awesome language learning courses. Although I must say, I’m also sad because I’m getting ever closer to the end of these lessons! [By the way, I shared a picture of Spanish 6 below because I’m excited about learning that next.])

  • learned to play a song on the piano. (Guys. This is my most favorite accomplishment ever!! ❤ I looked up the piano chords to Jordan Feliz’s How Long [which has been my favorite song for months now] and, with the chords that I found, I was able to teach myself to play the tune and sing along with it, too! When I’m a bit more confident, I’d love to share a video playing it for you guys! That would be so cool!!)

  • went through my phone. (That means that I cleared off apps I’m not using, transferred all photos and videos … everything that monthly phone maintenance entails!)
  • tidied my room. (This includes dusting and cleaning my desk, dusting the piano keyboard [it needed it], and straightening everything on my bookshelf!)

  • went through the books on my bookshelf. (Special thanks to the pretty way I’ve arranged my books, this was hard to do, haha! But as shown in the picture of my room somewhere above, I found a way to make everything still pretty, even with some of the books missing. x I’m donating some, and others I’m keeping elsewhere because they’re more like reference books [baby names, tree reference guide, etc.].)
  • finished reading King John. (I mentioned this on my reading list post earlier this week, and I must say that I really enjoyed it! It’s definitely Shakespeare’s most underrated play. If you like reading Shakespeare, I’d recommend giving King John a try!)

  • began reading The Merchant of Venice. (Eh, not as gripping to me as King John was, but I’ll still read it. The characters are pretty cool – and funny, too!)

Little Accomplishments – July 28th, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Hello everyone – how are you all on this fine Friday? Welcome to this week’s Little Accomplishments!

You know what I just realized? It has been a full month since I did one of these posts!! 😱 What?! That’s crazyyy 😂 I figured five weeks was enough time away from this enjoyable Friday series, so I’m back for another one today.

((Quick Life Update: It turns out that my cold is actually strep throat, a sickness I get quite often. I feel soooo bad today 😭 I can’t talk, can barely eat … Please keep me in your prayers, guys!!))

As you guys can probably guess, I got lots of things done on my blogging break, but I’ll go more into detail on what those things were on the post I’ll be doing on the first of August. For my Little Accomplishments, I’ll just mention what I achieved here recently.

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

Here recently, I…

  • completed a few different coloring pages. (I absolutely love how they turned out!!)

  • updated my blog’s sidebar. (Wanna take a look? Haha it has been forever since I added any new widgets, and the ones I decided on are pretty cool.)
  • finished reading three books. (A book on Guatemala, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and a lovely novel called The Island of Heavenly Daze! The last title I mentioned is the first book in a series of five, so I’m super excited to check out the rest of those!)

  • cleaned up my room. (I dusted, organized … normal stuff! I do it every once in a while)
  • learned some of the major piano chords. (My piano learning progress is going slower than I’d like, but oh well. Such is life! I’m taking it a day at a time and learning as I feel inspired.)

I hope that you all had a fantastic week, everyone, and that this upcoming week will be amazing, too!

Little Accomplishments – June 23rd, 2017

Little Accomplishments – June 23rd, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Welcome back to this week’s Little Accomplishments, everybody!

I’m going to start by saying, how is it Friday again??!! I’m pretty sure I just hit “publish” on last week’s Friday post, LOL! I have no idea if time is flying like this for anyone else, but I am truly in shock. I mean, what?!

Alright. I won’t continue to ramble on in this scattered manner. Although I’m tempted to, haha

I hope that you all had a great week! As you know, mine sped by, but some great and definitely unexpected things happened over the course of these past seven days, and I’m thankful for each one of them. Some of them I have shared below, but others I’m keeping private for personal reasons. Without further ado, let’s get into this.

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

This past week, I…

  • started learning the piano keyboard. (Last Sunday, my mom was considering donating our piano keyboard, which we’ve had for years but I’ve never had an interest in. Suddenly, I got the notion in my head to see if it and the stand fit in my room – specifically in the corner where I’ve been keeping my electric guitar [which I still can’t play], and to my delight, it did. Since that day, I’ve been watching videos on YouTube and familiarizing myself with the keys, notes, major chords, scales, and other tips and tricks that I come across to help me learn. The quickness of this decision, and how much I’m suddenly loving it, truly appears to be inspired by the Lord. So I’m going along with it and enjoying every step of the way. I think I’ve already fallen in love with it. ❤ If you play the piano, let me know in the comments below! I’d love to chat with you.)

  • organized my closet. (It’s difficult for me to find a way to make everything in there work together organization-wise, as it’s so narrow, but I have it set up pretty nicely for now! I’m always finding ways to improve it haha)
  • started a new coloring page. (This one is a neat, intricate butterfly that I colored using lots of different colors instead of similar tones like I usually do! I can’t decide if I should leave it as is, or add more color. I think I’ll figure that out this upcoming week.)

  • began learning Spanish 5 on Memrise. (The first part of the course is all about sports lingo – specifically, futbol. That means that I’m learning how to say ‘that’s a foul!’ and ‘he’s the best player of the year’ and things like that, lol. I might need to discuss sports stuff like this in Spanish at some point in my life hahaha, but definitely no time soon!)
  • finally started reading Head in the Clouds. (I’ve been eyeing this novel on Goodreads for a while now – it’s been on my ‘to read’ shelf for so long – and I finally got it from the library when I accidentally found it last week, haha! I will definitely be reviewing it sometime soon because I’m only on the second chapter and I already love it so much.)

{Bonus Segment: Little Future Accomplishments}

Oooh! How exciting! Am I right?! I’ve never shared a to-do list on here before 😀 These posts are always about things I’ve done, haha, but I have some different things I’m wanting to get done this upcoming week, so I thought it’d be a good idea to hold myself accountable, lol. Let’s see how many I can check off next Friday.

  • learn the major piano scales.
  • further acquaint myself with piano lingo (what terms are used and when).
  • finish reading Head in the Clouds (can I do it in a week? I think I can!).
  • paint a new watercolor painting.

I’m sure I’ll have more to share next week, but these are the four biggest things! (And honestly, the third one is a stretch. We’ll see about that one.)

Happy Friday, everyone! ❤ xxx
