Learning About My Kodak Camera

Learning About My Kodak Camera

Hi there ❤ I hope you’re having a beautiful day! 🙂 Back in February, I bought myself my very first camera, and I was so excited to begin using it! I could just imagine how many awesome photoshoots I’d hold, all of the special moments I’d capture … but then something happened.

I couldn’t figure out which settings would produce clear pictures, so I quit using my camera for several months.

Summer OOTD – Pink Hues/Casual

Summer OOTD – Pink Hues/Casual

Hi there!! Happy Thursday to you! ❤ I have a very exciting post to share with you today 🙂 The last ‘outfit of the day’ post I did was back in November, haha, because I absolutely love fall fashion! However, I have been putting together some outfits lately for the warmer months that I’d love to post about on my blog, as well.

Today’s outfit is a beautiful combination of my favorite newest additions to my wardrobe! Bonus points for it being something I can wear on the hottest day in Georgia, haha 🙂 It has light colors, is fashionable, and can be worn most of the places I go! I hope you enjoy today’s post! ❤

What I’ve Been Loving – May 11th

What I’ve Been Loving – May 11th

Hi there! I hope your day is going well. ❤ Having spent the last few days mostly in bed and taking it easy at home, I’ve been wanting to share something more on my blog that was more than a just life update! Being the productive person that I am, where I can’t comfortably go for too long without doing something worthwhile, it is already helping me to compose this post. ❤ There have been different things about my life recently that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, and it was each and every one of those things that have inspired my post for today. 🙂 I hope you enjoy!

Sibling Adventures | Part One

Hi there! I hope you’re doing well. ❤ Happy Monday to you! 🙂 Recently, I have been truly enjoying going places with my younger siblings. It has been nice to explore nature and spend time outside before it gets too hot here in Georgia, and I have captured some great pictures of our adventures. Activities That Make Me Happy

Activities That Make Me Happy

Hi there! I hope you’re doing well. ❤ Happy Monday to you! I’m really excited about getting to share some of the post ideas I have this week because I’m currently participating in an awesome posting contest!

Starling is hosting what she has called HARPs (Happy And Random Posts Contest), which encourages the three teams of bloggers (I’m on Team Ladybug!) to write fun and uplifting posts. You can check out the first round of this contest here. For now, let’s see what I have to share with you today! I hope I can make my team proud, haha

Activites That Make Me Happy

This post is inspired by my love for relaxing activities! One of my favorite ways to de-stress, wind down after a long day, and even begin my day is by doing something fun and quiet. Among my favorite activities to do right now are …

Read. I have so many awesome second-hand books on my shelf at the moment that are demanding my attention! Finding a really good book and enjoying reading it makes me so joyful. Right now, I’m finishing reading one that discusses the Proverbs 31 woman (such a good read! I may review it sometime soon). Once I’ve finished that one, I’d love to start reading a heartwarming biography by Former First Lady Nancy Reagan. ❤

Color. I have absolutely adored coloring since I was a little kid! When adult coloring books became the trend, just in time for me to enjoy them (haha), I easily found a great many that made me pleased to look through. The ones I’ve gotten for myself all contain beautiful art and delightful intricate designs! I’ve been slowly been working on coloring all of my favorite pages, and that has been so peaceful and fun. My favorite book right now is my The Psalms in Color one, which incorporates Bible verses with coloring – two things that I absolutely love! I’m very glad I found this one while thrifting because I was actually considering buying this exact one online for more than double the price I paid. 😀

Listen to music. This one is no secret, and it’s also one that I’ve enjoyed doing my whole life! My taste in songs has obviously changed and transformed over the years, but I find that I’ll happily go back to bands and albums that I’ve loved listening to for years. Right now, I’m loving Jordan Feliz’s newest album, Future, as well as most songs by the artist Leeland, haha!

Write a story. Yes, it is quite possible that I’m back to writing a story! 😉 I won’t share too much yet, but I will say that I’m already on the second chapter, research is going really well, and I am already beyond elated to be giving these awesome book characters their own story. Should I share some snippets from it soon?

Brainstorm blog posts. I don’t usually write blog posts or browse WordPress while having downtime, since blogging easily starts to feel like work lol, but I do have fun thinking of posts I’d like to write in the upcoming weeks! I’m especially thrilled when several ideas come to me at once, and that’s when I’m always quick to write them down – I very quickly forget blogging inspiration. Just this morning, I was reading a blog post by a new friend of mine (thanks, Zielle!), and her blog tips really helped me to come up with some new ideas! I’m so thankful! (The image above is of the cute cacti notepad I usually write down my ideas on.)

Thank you so much for reading! I loved sharing my favorite pastimes with you. ❤ Let me know in the comments below:

My Health And Fitness Journey: An Introduction + New Goals!

My Health And Fitness Journey: An Introduction + New Goals!

Hello there! Happy Thursday to you! ❤ I hope you’re doing well 🙂 The topic of this post revolves around something I don’t often bring up, yet it is a crucial part of my life! Today, I’m talking about my health and fitness journey. I hope you enjoy!

~~~
This past December, I decided that I was ready to begin caring for my body better than I had been before. The fears of injury and restriction had been holding me back for a long time – and before I go on, I’d like to share why.
Since I was the age of thirteen, up until very recently, I’ve struggled with recurring hip pain and doing anything too physically-involved. Minor injuries kept me back from enjoying sports and anything physical activity-related.
I struggled for a long time to see how the Lord would use that pain for my good, because I was so tired of hurting. I wanted to be able to run, ride my bike, get involved in sports, etc. Having a recurring weakness made worse through strain affected me for years.
However, as I near my 18th birthday, I’ve noticed something huge – my hips have not bothered me for quite some time now. I couldn’t tell you the last time I found my hips hurting was, and that’s saying a LOT!
I still don’t know exactly why the Lord would have me do so little in the ways of exercise until now, but hey, not everything is for me to know. Maybe it was simply so that I wouldn’t take for granted the beautiful blessing it is to walk, run, dance, and be physically fit.
Taking fitness slowly and building endurance has always been a struggle for me. That’s because when I’m passionate about something, then I’m all in! – which isn’t a smart mindset to have when it comes to creating any exercise routine. You have to build endurance and allow your body to adapt to those lifestyle changes! Otherwise, you’ll injure yourself, wear your body out, or ruin the initial mentality you had toward exercising: “I can do this!”
The fear I had throughout my pre-teen and teenage years held me back from doing anything than beginner-level exercising and stretching. That means that I wasn’t getting anywhere because I wasn’t sticking with any program that would help me build strength and move forward! It was smart of me, in a way, but I was more afraid than I should have been, and the agitation I felt toward my body hurt me more times than I can count.
Now, when it comes to how I eat, I’ve noticed a few things I need to change: I need to stick to serving sizes, and I have to curb my growing sugar addiction.
For the past few years, I’ve enjoyed eating the meals and snacks we have around the house. The majority of what we have and what I choose to eat are pretty good options, but I almost always serve myself too much. I’m tired of feeling more full than I need to! Even when the serving size suggestion is less than I would give myself, my body appreciates it when I eat a balance of nutrients, not just what looks good.
My sugar addiction, which I’ve started to notice is getting worse, is brought on when we stop somewhere to grab a snack/treat while we’re out of the house, when I bake homemade desserts, and when I get a craving for something sweet after nearly every dinner. My dad and brothers really like treats, and so do I now myself, but I must say that I’d rather have something once or twice a week than daily, haha! This is why I’m having to learn the art of resisting temptation.
I love filling my plate with food, but I don’t like how it makes me feel. Eating sugary foods is a lot of fun, but the fatigue that plagues me afterward isn’t worth it. Doing a relaxing activity is more fun than power-walking a few miles, but how good I feel after exercising is well worth the sacrifice.
I have a lot of goals in mind I am slowly putting in place in my life. My desire to do this is driven by the drive I feel for my wellbeing, overall health, and how much I want to care for the body the Lord has given me! It’s up to me to do the best that I can to care for and love the way my body is.
Here are some of my goals! If we have any in common, let me know in the comments below 🙂
  • Drink soda once a week. Once I have this practice down, I’d love to change it to bi-weekly! I could easily have soda every day, which is so awful for me – I’d rather be drinking water.
  • Exercise/Stretch every day. Whether I’m power-walking in my bedroom, riding bikes with my brother, or doing an easy stretching routine, I can totally do this! I love how it feels to get fit, which is why this needs to be a daily practice in my life.
  • Eat out once a week. Sometimes, we’ll do more if things get hectic one week, but otherwise, I want to stick to eating the healthy foods here at home. It feels better to eat healthy.
  • Stick to serving sizes! I have to stop serving more on my plate than I want to eat! I have to remember that it feels better to eat the right amount for me.
Thank you so much for reading my post! I hope this could be an encouragement to you, because it sure encourages me when I see how others are moving along on their health and fitness journey. ❤ Speaking of encouragement, I’d like to give a quick shoutout to my beautiful friend Jordan’s most recent fitness post – it really encouraged me to keep going on my own journey!
I hope you have a beautiful day! Let me know in the comments below how YOU’RE coming along on your health and fitness journey!
Have a blessed day! ❤
Thrifted Favorites Haul!
Thrifted Favorites Haul!
Hey there, and Happy Monday to you!!
(It’s also Abraham Lincoln’s 209th birthday, so that’s pretty cool, haha. Happy b-day, Honest Abe!!)
I’ve been pretty quiet in the blogging world this past week, if for no other reason than I was just deciding between what to post. My family and I have been doing well; I had a fun, productive week; and I can’t wait to catch up with you guys!
How have you been lately? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂
On Saturday, I went out on a girls’ outing with my mom and little sisters. We enjoyed going to a few stores, and I was especially pleased to find some of my favorite books and movies at a good price, ones that I’ve yet to own until now! That’s what I’ll be talking about today, as you have seen by the title. I do love a good thrift store haul ❤
Blogging Update: This past week, I updated my ‘About’ page (now called ‘About Maggie‘!), and created a whole new page about the blog itself. You can go check that out here! I’d love to hear what you think!
In the rest of this post, allow me to convince you why you, too, should give these books and one movie a try – if you haven’t already! I love all of them so much. (I also got myself a new bag on that thrift shop trip, and I may share it with you sometime soon in a what’s in my purse post!)
Let’s check this out ❤ Hope you enjoy!
Thrifted Favorites Haul
The first thing we have is a movie, which is one of my all-time favorites – The Holiday. This cozy romantic comedy is one that I’ve watched over and over again, because the main characters, settings, and overall plot are just fantastic! My mom actually owns the movie, haha, which is why I’ve had the pleasure of watching it multiple times, but I wanted a copy for myself as well, because then I’ll always have it on hand. As it is called ‘The Holiday,’ one might guess it’s a seasonal movie, which it is – but I happily watch it year-round!
This amazing book is one that I stumbled upon in the book section of one of my favorite thrift stores. Until the title caught my eye while I browsed the shelves, I’d never heard of it before, and it’s absolutely tragic that I haven’t. This is one of those books that should be read by most, if not all, for the awareness ‘Too Small To Ignore‘ brings to how important children are, and how precious they are in the sight of the Lord, is extremely powerful. I’m not even a quarter of the way through this book, and it has already driven me to tears multiple times!
‘Too Small To Ignore’ has opened my eyes to the beautiful position the Lord has me in my life – getting to be the eldest sibling to my younger brothers and sisters. Learning to love them with all that I am and sacrificing my free time for their happiness and joy is my mission, one that I plan on pursuing throughout their whole childhood, and into their adulthood, too. That is my prayer. ❤
(I also have to mention that the children at Hope For Guatemala have my heart, too! I can’t wait to spend time with them one day. They’re in my thoughts, prayers, and dreams. xx )
Do yourself a favor and check out this book. I am positive that you won’t regret it!
Lori Wick is a great Christian writer that has composed many wonderful fiction novels, and the one I got on Saturday (‘The Proposal‘) is one that I haven’t gotten around to reading yet! I did read a few other books in this series, and they were both a nice cozy read. If you enjoy Jane Austen’s books, then The English Garden Series by Lori Wick would be a great fit for you!
GUYS. This book is one that the Lord used to truly speak to me when I was about twelve years old, and it is definitely one that will always have a special place in my heart. Dinner With A Perfect Stranger by David Gregory is a quick read that will have a deep impact on every reader. Without giving anything away, I will say that the title perfectly describes what the book is about! Drop by your library today and pick up this read – it is an extremely powerful, delightful book. ❤
Thank you so much for reading! I love sharing little hauls from time to time, because it’s a nice way to share some of the things I’ve recently purchased. (: I hope you have a great week! Let me know in the comments below:
Have YOU checked out these books?
Happy Monday!
My 2018 Bullet Journal (Happy New Year!)
My 2018 Bullet Journal (Happy New Year!)
Hey guys! I am very happy to wish all of you not only a Happy Monday (haha), but a Happy New Year, as well! ❤ I’m so happy that 2018 is here. I am determined to make this an absolutely beautiful year, full of wonderful new experiences, memories and adventures!
Today, I am sharings with you my very first bullet journal!
This post was inspired by my lovely blogging friend, Oxria!
You may recognize this lovely notebook from a post I did a few months ago, when I mentioned that I had started journaling again. Well, I didn’t end up writing much in it in over that amount of time, so I got rid of the few entries it contained and decided to use it instead as my bullet journal!
The first page I have to share with you is of the full 2018 12-month calendar I spent a good 30 minutes writing last week, haha!
I love how it turned out, even though the margins aren’t perfect. ah, well. I’ll learn in time! Having a mini year calendar near the beginning of my journal will be a helpful reference for me.
Next, I have a place to keep track of how many miles I walk throughout January and February!
Back in mid-December, I began my health and fitness journey, which I have actually yet to mention on my blog! This life change has mainly consisted of sticking to serving sizes, getting a bit less dessert than I used to (*laughs, then sighs*), power-walking, stretching, and doing ab exercises. I hope to lose a few pounds and track that progress, as well. Keeping up with these awesome new habits in my bullet journal is something I’m excited about doing this year!
Third, I will be aiming to read 52 books in 2018, so I made a page for it!
On my phone and throughout these journal pages, I’m writing down books I plan to get around to reading this year. As you can see, my goal is to read 52 books this year, which I will totally be able to accomplish! I’ve missed the joy of reading for a long time, and one of my main focuses for 2018 is to read more. It’s simple, broad, and something I love to do, and I intend to read that many books over these next twelve months. ❤
This next page is a really cool one (and I thought of the idea myself, lol). I’m going to keep up with language learning review/new words here!
Isn’t this cool? And it will totally encourage me to continue learning new words and re-memorizing old ones! (I am in the process of learning three different languages, but not at the same time. Spanish is the main one, then I occasionally review basic French and Portuguese, as well.)
Next, you can see my weight loss graph!
My goal is to lose about eight pounds from where I am now. It won’t be any more than that – it may even be a bit less, so I’m just going to see how it goes! Watching the scale go down bit by bit is worth cutting back slightly on food for. ❤
The last page I’ll be showing you today (I might do an update post when I’ve made some more pages!) is the book series I want to read!
As you can see, I totally messed up on the Anne of Green Gables book order because a website confused me, haha, but otherwise, I’m excited about reading these series! If you’ve read any of them, let me know how you liked them in the comments below. 🙂
So there you have it! This is how my first bullet journal looks. ❤ I can’t wait to use it throughout 2018.
Let me know in the comments below:
Do YOU use a bullet journal?
