Hello, October! | Tips For Surviving #Blogtober2019

Hello! I hope you’re having a beautiful day. ❀ Happy October to you! I’m very happy that October is here, although I must say with regret that it’s still hot and humid where I live. It may be November by the time it’s nice and cool outside! Either way, I’m going to make sure it’s cheerful and festive here on my blog all month long. πŸ˜‰

This is myΒ third yearΒ participating in Blogtober onΒ Dreaming of Guatemala!Β I’m so glad to be back doing this blog challenge again – it makes my favorite time of year even more exciting than it already is! By the way, if you don’t know what Blogtober is, it’s where various bloggers set out to share a post every single day in October. I’m not following a specific set of prompts – just sharing a lot of my usual content!

Today’s post will include my top tips for surviving #Blogtober2019! I adore blog challenges, but they can become quite … challenging πŸ˜‰ … quickly! Having already successfully completed Blogtober twice, I have some advice to share with you. Whether it’s your first year or your fifth year doing Blogtober, I hope this post can be an encouragement to you!

Tips For Surviving #Blogtober2019

Make a list of post titles/topics you want to cover this month. These can be fall-themed, but they don’t have to be! For me personally, I’ve found that coming up with thirty-one seasonal posts is a huge headache, so I just aim to post every day and share plenty of posts revolving around fall. Try turning on your favorite upbeat song, put on some headphones, and start jotting down blog post ideas. This method has worked for me more than once!

Change up what you’re posting if you begin running out of content. During the last two Blogtobers I participated in, I quickly made changes in the kinds of posts I was sharing if I couldn’t keep it up. Sometimes, right in the middle of a blogging streak, our interests in life will change, and the best way to accommodate these changes is by allowing your posts to reflect what you’re focusing on in your real life!

Make sure you do the best youΒ can to hold on to the internal motivation that had you interested in Blogtober in the first place. πŸ™‚

Check out what the rest of the community’s blogging about this month. Just to get you started, try looking up ‘October,’ ‘Blogtober,’ ‘autumn,’ and ‘fall’ under the tags in the Reader! You could potentially meet new bloggers, as well as gather inspiration from what others are sharing. Of course, make sure you always credit bloggers with specific ideas you got from them.

Continue adding to post series you already have on your blog. This is a great way to quickly come up with content on the days when you may not have as much time to come up with an original post idea. It has certainly kept my Blogtober mood alive the last few years I’ve participated in it!

Consider collaborating with another blogger! It’ll both give you content for this month (especially if you’re both doing Blogtober!), as well as be a special promotion for each other’s blogs. Plus, learning more about a blogger you’re already close to is a lot of fun!

Develop a post-building system. It’s very easy to get caught up in finding the perfect pictures to include in your post, or brainstorming titles, or even the formatting of a particular post. With all of those things to work on, you don’t end up having time to actually write the post itself! By developing your own personal post-building system, then you eliminate all the extra stresses of constructing each post. I could write a post on this soon going over how I do this with my own blog! πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you will consider joining me in posting every day of this month. I always love seeing what the community comes up with for blog challenges! If you haven’t already checked it out, I have a post from last Blogtober covering 25 fall blog post ideas that you might appreciate scrolling through. πŸ™‚
