Blog Revamp | Exciting Changes at Dreaming of Guatemala!

Have I mentioned before how much this blog changes with me? haha

Hello there! I hope you’re having a beautiful day. ❤ It has been over two weeks since I shared an official post because, once again (haha), taking some time off from blogging helped me to put everything back into perspective.

During the two and a half years I’ve been posting on Dreaming of Guatemala, I’ve gone through seasons of inspiration, where I had at least one main reason why I was wanting to share posts. Having a blogging ‘WHY’ means that you’re able to stay motivated to keep posting, even on the days when inspiration is lacking. That’s true about many things in life, actually! When something takes a lot of work, time, and effort, being able to remember why you’re doing that thing is what will save you on the days when you’re unmotivated.

Here are some of the reasons I’ve enjoyed blogging on Dreaming of Guatemala in the past (and some of them are still true today!): to motivate/promote other bloggers, to express myself creatively, to share my knowledge/wisdom on a subject, to connect with others, and to challenge myself to post every day of a particular month.

Of course, your blogging ‘why’ can be a combination of various things, but you should have at least one, and it has to be strong enough to keep you inspired to blog!

In the past year and a half, I did not have a constant reason to keep blogging, which resulted in both planned breaks and impromptu absences. It drove me crazy at times to be so inconsistent, because I love consistency, but I also learned that putting myself first and investing my focus in my family (as well as my own emotional health) is of the utmost importance. The Lord has challenged me at various times to leave blogging in His hands, which has been difficult to do more than once, because it’s a hobby that I truly adore. However, I have seen over and over again just how beneficial it is to take time off and really think through why it is that I want to return.

I have titled this post ‘Blog Revamp‘ (well, that’s how the title starts anyway, haha) because I’m working on rebuilding the way I look at Dreaming of Guatemala. I just keep coming back to it, even after the times I thought I’d stop posting for good, which truly verifies for me that this is what the Lord wants me to be doing!

I’m not going to reveal the new post series I’m thinking about quite yet, but I can assure you that they’ll go live on my blog very soon. I’m so excited about them!

Thanks for sticking around and reading this post! I’ve had a wild past few years, and knowing that there are still people who are following this blog means a lot to me. Thank you for your comments and support!

Now, let’s have a bit of fun! I’ve always loved voting on polls, and I figure you will, too. I’d love for you to participate in the Dreaming of Guatemala polls I’ve created below!

Thank you for voting! (And if you didn’t, that’s alright haha) I’m really excited to be back to posting. ❤

  1. Fun post!
My blogging why is: to share what God teaches me so that I can encourage other girls/young women/women to be salt & light to the world, and serve Him wholeheartedly. Also so that I can use my passion for writing for His glory! 🙂 ❤

  2. I’ve enjoyed your blog so much since I found it 🙂 I’m very excited for your new changes! May God bless you, every step of the way ❤️ My blogging “why” is to share writing tips (on one blog) and share the Word of God (on my other blog).

  4. My blogging “why” is that I see lots of young girls struggle with identity and self-worth, and while I definitely have my fair share, knowing God and knowing how he sees me has changed everything for me. It’s crazy amazing how I’m living because of him, and I wanna help other girls find that freedom and confidence in Jesus too😊

  5. My blogging why:
I actually started blogging back in 2016, where the main focus was writing. My blog name was Writer’s Ink. Unfortunately after losing inspiration I took it down. After regaining inspiration I started blogging again. My new blog Educere focuses on looking at education, history and other topics that interest me from a Christian point of view. Also will write about my experiences in college once I start.

  6. Thanks for sharing that with us, Maggie!! My blogging why is to get closer to Jesus through blogging and to share about His love through it! I also love writing in general and connecting with other bloggers.

  7. That “why” is sooo important! I’m glad that you’ve been open about your experience because I’m positive others wonder about it, too. My why is the need to encourage and push believers. To share what God puts on my heart like He has since I was 13.
