Day 7 – Three Healthy Habits

1. Stay positive about my skin and consistently try out new things to help it.

Eczema has always been part of my life, which has presented challenges I’m still working on being positive about. Coping with itching, burning, dryness, and other responses to everything I come in contact with is my daily mission, so you can guess how excited I am when I find things that bring relief! Right now, I need to find a moisturizer that will help my dry hands and that won’t make them burn (I’m sensitive to most fragrances), and I want to find practical ways to deal with acne outbreaks, as well.

2. Enjoy exercising when I can and not get discouraged when I take days off.

I’ve thought for the longest time that to stay in shape and have a nice body, consistency is the only way to go. This means that I’d maintain healthy habits for a few days, then one day would come where a lot was going on and I couldn’t work out, or I ate out for dinner, etc., which then broke my streak. Situations like that are always extremely discouraging to me, because I’d tell myself that if I couldn’t make all the right choices every single day, then I wouldn’t attain the image and level of health I desired. This was not the right way to think! I know now that listening to my body and allowing myself days off is the right way to go. I’m now focusing on each individual health decision instead of the big picture, and that has already brought me so much peace and contentment. Some days, I go to the gym, and other days I enjoy relaxing at home. Some days, I make myself a very healthy lunch, and other days, I’m happy to have leftover pizza. Moderation, as well as consistently making the right choices for me, is helping me to stay focused on what I truly desire: to be happy with my body and love what I’m able to do without needing perfection.

3. Continually forgive myself and those I love.

This is mental health-related, and I really wanted to include it as one of the three healthy habits because it is something I need to focus on every day. For a very long time, I’ve been responding to new situations in old ways, which has created conflict, strife, and frustration in my relationships where there shouldn’t be any. I want to develop a forgiving heart. I’ve been praying about this a lot recently, and the Lord is helping me to see just how much He has forgiven me. I want to show that kind of all-encompassing forgiveness to others. ❤

  1. These are great habits, and a little different to the norm (with the likes of drinking more water, eat more veg etc). I think forgiveness is a wonderful, powerful, freeing thing, both for yourself & others. Hmm I think I’d add “thinking & stressing less” (is that a habit?) and “moisturise daily” (too often I look at the lovely creams I have but don’t use them regularly enough! xx

    1. Thanks Caz! Yeah haha, although I could do a bit more of those, too. It is very freeing! Those are great habits, and my skin would also appreciate a daily moisturizer. I just need to find one that works!

    Wake up early!
    Speak up in class.
