This is something I’ve been wanting to talk about on Dreaming of Guatemala for a while, but I never got around to it – until now! This prompt has given me a way to do so (:
Day 2 – Your Morning Routine
Since last fall, I’ve been starting each day in the same way. Before now, I didn’t have any morning routine, which really affected my days because there wasn’t any consistency to my mornings. Whatever I filled my mind with first thing each day (i.e. YouTube, a conversation with one of my family members, a blog post, etc.), it had the power to affect my waking-up time, which in turn didn’t kick my days off to a good start.
I used to spend time with the Lord solely in the evenings. While I know that was a beautiful way to end the day (and it still is!), I began to realize more and more that I needed to start my days with Him, too. Over the past eight or so months, I developed a regular morning routine for the first time in my life, and it is a blessing to me every day.
The best thing about how I start my mornings is that it doesn’t matter what time I get up. The inflexibility of my nights due to sharing a room with Elizabeth makes it difficult to get up at the same time every morning, and even to go to bed the night before.
