On Wednesdays, I’m currently blogging about tags and awards! For this week and the next, I’ll be answering a set of 50 questions to get to know myself better. It will be a great exercise for me, as well as a way for new readers to learn more about this writer! Click here to read the article that provided these questions.
50 Questions To
Get To Know Yourself
1. It is currently a goal of mine to …
… Become a more patient person. I want to be mindful of my responses, facial expressions, and decisions instead of responding to things so quickly and irrationally. When I do this, I make mistakes that I regret later. (Although, do we ever like making mistakes?)
2. What personality trait do you value the most in yourself?
I honestly love my sense of humor. Making others laugh is one of the most satisfying things in the world, and I’ll also surprise myself sometimes with the jokes I make, which is just awesome!
3. What is your dream job?
I keep picturing myself as a stand-up comedian, or being part of an improv group … both would be epic. Yup, those are my dream jobs! (They’re insanely similar, so that’s why I’m including two, haha)
4. Is your dream job attainable? Why or why not?
Well, my mom says I’ve always had good comedic timing, and I’m consistently getting more comfortable making jokes around people. So, yes, I do think both of those jobs are attainable!
5. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I keep thinking Ireland would make for an awesome home, but they have repetitive weather, right? haha realistically, I think Tennessee or northern Georgia would be a great place to live.
6. If money was no object, what would you want to do for the rest of your life?
Whatever the Lord places on my heart to do! Specifically, I’d love to travel and do mission work, but there are a lot of other things I often think about doing, as well, things that could probably fill their own post.
7. What would you do if you won a million dollars?
Put most of it into savings (haha I’m so savvy), but I’d also like to buy myself a car, and maybe get braces and pay for them completely. I can’t think of anything else at the moment …
8. What are your skills and strengths?
I have a good eye for color (i.e. what shades go well together, especially in graphic/interior design and art projects). I’m a pretty inquisitive person and can tell a lot about people simply by looking into their eyes. I can make convincing voice impressions, from kids TV show characters to Merida’s Scottish brogue. I can multitask insanely well, easily doing three or four things at once.
9. If you could eliminate one bad habit that you do, what would it be and why?
How effortlessly I pick up my phone! While most of what I browse on it are productive tasks, I’m tired of suddenly finding my phone in my hand scrolling down Pinterest like a robot. It can get scary.
10. If you could take on a new hobby or activity, what would it be and why?
I’ve always wanted to knit or try out calligraphy – those are realistic goals. But if we’re talking about a dream hobby, I have this thing for the cello and violin. While I don’t think I’ll ever be able to read music very well, I desperately want to learn to play both of these instruments!
11. If you could have an absolute perfect day, what would it be like?
First, I’d spend time with the Lord in the morning, drinking my coffee and reading His Word. Then I’d probably work on some blog posts, eat breakfast, and get ready for the day. Working in my room, organizing things, and reading a good book would be next on my list, then watching one of my favorite movies would be fun, as well. After eating lunch, I’d go to the library for a few hours, perusing the books and probably researching for more blog posts. (I’m so
dedicated obsessed lol) I might visit a few thrift stores before I go home, and once I’m home, I’d spend time with my family. After dinner, I’d play a game with whoever was interested, and I’d watch videos and read blog posts in the evening.
12. If you could spend your time doing anything, what would it be?
Different creative endeavors, such as blogging, hand-lettering, coloring, graphic/interior design, etc., but I’m also passionate about pursuing the things the Lord places in my life. ❤
13. What things do you look forward to the most in life?
Meeting/Marrying my future husband, having my future children, and accomplishing all that the Lord desires for me to do.
14. What are you afraid of?
Darkness. Spiders. Spiders in the dark. Needles. Eye pain. Losing my family. Clowns. Horror movies. Clowns in horror movies.
15. Name three things/people that make you feel complete.
Spending time with my Heavenly Father is the only thing that makes me feel completely whole. ❤
16. What quote or lyric speaks to you?
On a deep, melancholy level, the lyrics from On The Way Home by John Mayer: “Life ain’t short, but it sure is small; you get forever, but nobody at all.” On a more positive note: “O death, where did your sting go? The threats you make are hollow, ’cause now, you’re just a shadow.” – Life In The Death Of Me by Unspoken
17. What is your passion in life?
Sharing the Lord’s love with everyone I know.
18. How do you handle change?
It really depends. Sometimes I embrace change and need something new in my life, while other times, I hold on to the old for far too long. I’m stubborn and open, all at the same time.
19. What do you do when you feel stressed?
Watch YouTube videos to distract me and de-stress, talk through the issue with people I trust, and pray (although this can take a while for me to do sometimes).
20. Think about people who inspire you, what qualities do they possess?
Ooh I like this question! Let me see … selflessness, kindness, and a merciful spirit. Basically, in a word: love. ❤
21. Do you feel like something is missing in your life? What is it?
I would honest-to-goodness love to meet my future husband and marry him (haha), but I also don’t feel like this is missing from my life. I know I’ll meet this awesome guy in the Lord’s perfect timing!
22. What is the best advice you have ever received?
In a conversation I had with my mom a few weeks ago, she shared this with me: “We feel like if we don’t get things done now, then they’ll never happen. But the truth is, things have a way of working out when they’re supposed to be part of our lives.” She told me that I have the rest of my life ahead of me, which is ample enough time for the Lord to bring about all the beautiful things He’s placed on my heart for the future. Advice and wisdom like this is what keeps me going.
23. What gives you the most comfort?
When I’m reading the Bible and I can just tell that a verse completely relates to my situation. That blesses me unlike anything else!
24. Name some little things that always make your day better.
Receiving a long, heartfelt comment on a blog post. Having a conversation with my mom. Watching a YouTube video that really gets me laughing. (I’m going to do a post on the little things I love soon, so I’ll save more for that post!)
25. What activity brings you the most joy?
I have so many hobbies that it would be impossible for me to pick just one. I love exercising, blogging, trying new food, exploring cities both new and old, playing games … all of those bring me happiness!
Wowwww this was a long post! I can’t believe it’s only the first part, too, haha. If you got this far, I am exceedingly honored! Thanks for being amazing!
