Hello! I hope you’re having a beautiful day. ❤ This is the first time I’ve ever really thought about this, but there are several songs, books, sermons, and conversations that have ultimately shaped the relationship I have with the Lord today. Those words of wisdom have taught me about the Lord’s love, what it means to know Him, and how to live a godly life.
What I also have to acknowledge about this topic is one very important fact: these people alone did not inspire me.
I used to think that if I heard a really good spiritual song on the radio, then the singer or songwriter had done an amazing job because I was greatly moved by the lyrics they sung. Now, I’ve learned that’s not the case.
The Lord uses an innumerable amount of sources
to speak to our hearts.
I think it is an absolutely beautiful thing when people allow the Lord to work through their lives and let Him reach others through them. There have been different times in my life when I knew someone else benefited from what I shared or said, but I have to remember that it’s not my doing; it’s His.
When my knowledge of the Lord was still in its beginning stages, I remember thinking that one of my biggest goals in life was to lead at least one person to Jesus. As I got older, I realized that I was thinking of it and referring to it in the wrong light.
I hadn’t intended to turn the focus on myself, but that’s what I did: I saw the work that I did for the Lord as something I was doing and accomplishing for Him. While it’s true that our submission to His will is our decision, it’s even more true that the reason we’re dedicating our lives to Him is because of Him!
I love the verses in the Bible that talk about everything being to, from, because of, and of the Lord. I read one of those verses recently and was again reminded of how involved He is with His creation. When He uses something we’ve done to inspire others and lead them to Him, it is His hand in the situation that draws those people to Him – not our handcrafted words or accurate knowledge.
Giving back to the Lord, when even in the smallest of ways, is extremely beneficial in the life of a Christian. I know how much of a blessing it is to me to write, say, or do something for the Lord, because I’m allowing Him to reach others through my life.
By making ourselves available to His plans for us, we give Him an outlet to share His love and other beautiful attributes with people who would otherwise not see it.
As I shared in my testimony (see this post), it was through gospel music that the Lord first began to speak to my heart. There were songs about praising Him, trusting in Him, following His plans for our lives, and so much more, and each and every lyric, while written by different men and women, was initially inspired and brought about by the Lord.
I pray this could inspire you! This topic was just something I wanted to talk about today because it’s important for us to remember as Christians. ❤
I hope you have a beautiful day!
