Hi there! 💛 I hope you’re having a beautiful day. 🙂 I have decided to begin writing mini reviews of books again. Sharing why I enjoyed the books I’ve finished reading is an encouragement to me to keep reading, which is a good thing, since I have bookshelves full of books!
In today’s post, I’ll talk about the reasons why it was a pleasure to read ‘Beautiful Poems On Jesus,‘ which is a poem collection by Basil Miller. I found it at a thrift store over the summer and slowly made my way through it in the months that followed. I hope you enjoy reading this post!
5 Reasons Why I Loved Reading
‘Beautiful Poems On Jesus’
Its beautiful binding. This is not the only reason I’ll read a book … 😂👌🏼 In fact, it’s just a fun bonus! Mustard yellow is a popular color in the fall months, so while I was reading this book during the fall, it felt so aesthetic, haha. I don’t even have any mustard-colored clothes myself; just a book!
How the poems are organized. They are literally grouped into sections on why these poets love Jesus, which I think is a brilliant idea! I got to read poems on people trusting in Jesus, remembering all the names of Jesus, and more. There are even sections just for Christmas and Easter poems, which I actually skipped reading because they’ll mean more to me if I read them at the time of those holidays. Either way, how the author organized the poems made it so much more memorable to read – I loved it!
Each writer loves Jesus in a different way. This kind of goes along with the poems being grouped into topics/focuses. Even within the same chapters, these poets expressed their love for the Lord in beautiful, unique ways. Their heartfelt praise and remembrance of Him brought me so much joy to read. I’m glad I own this book, because it will easily be something I come back to and read over and over again!
It’s easy to read. Sometimes, poems are hard to stay focused on (especially if each rhyming verse is like twelve words long ._. haha), and even the margins/word spacing can be distracting, especially with older books. Even though this one was written in the late forties, it’s easy to read a bunch of the poems at once because they all flow together so well!
They really get me thinking. I have read different Christian books by various authors that are a great inspiration to me, but this book, with all the poems it contained, showed me how to love Jesus in a completely different way! The intricate thoughts and words of praise found in these old poems are not found in our songs and books today – apparently, it’s an old tradition to write so joyfully about the Lord. All I have to say is that I’m glad this book came my way! It’s definitely one of the best books I own now. 💕
Thank you so much for reading! It was a pleasure reviewing this book with you. If you’re interested in reading it yourself, it’s only a couple of dollars on Amazon (click here) – I highly recommend it! 😊
Have a beautiful day!
