10 Facts About Me

10 Facts About Me

Hi there! I hope you’re having a beautiful day. πŸ™‚ ❀ It has been several months since I wrote an introductory post like this, and I knew that one was in order after so much time of being away!

The list below includes different little facts about me – ten, to be exact. I was originally going to share twenty, but it ended up being so long that even I wouldn’t want to read it! xD Haha! Instead, I went through and picked out the ten that I liked the most. I hope you enjoy!

10 Facts About Me

  1. I prefer watching comedies over any other kind of movie. I used to watch a greater variety of films, from adventures and mysteries to romances and dramas, but now my go-to is comedies. *shrug* Just like I told my mom, if I’m going to enjoy a movie, I’d prefer to be laughing then getting emotional, solemn, or anxious. (That last one links specifically to psychological thrillers, which I recently found out I do not like.)
  2. I have several unidentified allergies. It started when I was a kid and had flare-ups after coming in contact with different materials (bad rashes) and being around guinea pig hay (sinus infections). In more recent times (haha), most of what I eat gives me abdominal pain, and at least once every week, I’m plagued with a massive headache that will not go away. Visiting an allergist and getting diagnosed is one of the biggest things on my to do list.
  3. I think I know how many kids I desire to have someday. I say ‘think’ because the Lord may very well change my heart toward this at some point, haha! For now, though, I adore the thought of having four kids – two my own, and two adopted. I need this to happen!
  4. I still want to go to Guatemala. I’ll talk more about this in a post coming out next week. ❀ For now, let me just say that through the ups and downs in my passion for this country, it is still very special to me!
  5. I don’t have problems with my hips anymore! My pre-teen and teenage years were greatly affected by my inability to run or participate in any sports. Now that I’m done growing, however, this has not been an issue for a long time! ❀ I can’t tell you how much of a that blessing that is to me πŸ™‚
  6. According to the app Memrise, I have learned 2.5k Spanish words. What??!! Isn’t that insane? And the awesome part is that this wasn’t even required of me for school; I learned all of that just because I love learning foreign languages!
  7. I love going for long car rides. Living in an overpopulated area has yet to put a dent in my enjoyment of going for rides in the car – especially when I’m driving! I could easily go on a road trip where I was driving the entire time because I just love it. Getting to listen to music, exchange jokes with my family, and admire city/countryside scenery is one of my favorite ways to spend my time. πŸ’š
  8. I have completely healed from my wisdom teeth surgery. Woohoo! I figured I would, but hey, it’s worth giving an update on πŸ™‚ My jaw’s back to normal, my tongue isn’t tingly anymore (it was for the first three weeks post-op, haha), and my gums are happy and healthy. I’ve greatly enjoyed eating normally again these last few months! (Visit this category of my blog to read about my first major surgery experience!)
  9. I’ve been enjoying making healthy recipes recently. Different vegetable side dishes have been a lot of fun to try, and salads are great, too. I’m thinking about sharing some of these on my blog soon!
  10. Every day, I keep up with drinking the right amount of water. Do you remember the Plant Nanny app that I mentioned multiple times on my blog last summer? Since then, it has become increasingly easy for me to drink two liters or more of water every single day, which makes me really happy! While I did mention that I have different allergy-related issues previously in this post, I have seen awesome improvement in my overall health due to the increase in my daily water consumption.

Thank you so much for reading! I enjoyed getting to share these facts about myself – I hope that you could learn a bit more about who I am today. πŸ™‚

  1. 1. I am absolutely fascinated by dogs and am head-over-heels in love with my own doggo and her adorable pointy fox face. But anybody who’s been around me for 5 seconds or longer knows that.
    2. I have been playing the piano since I was 6.
    3. Math is my absolute worst subject, and I’ve scraped by on tests mainly by memorizing stuff without actually having an understanding of the subject… oops! I try really hard to understand it, and some of it I do, but a lot of just boggles my mind.
    4. I am currently taking classes at the community college here.
    5. My favorite class right now is Principles of Psychology.
    6. I am looking into obtaining and learning how to play a hammered dulcimer, something I have wanted to do for few years now.
    7. I love classic literature and well-written books. Currently reading Les Miserables.
    8. Some people perform better under pressure. Not me! I get overwhelmed and shut down if there is too much. It only takes a little to get me moving.
    9. I am super talkative online, but in person, I am probably one of the shyest people you will meet. I will either talk too much for fear of not talking enough, or talk to little for fear of talking to much, depending on what type of anxious I am that day. XD Once we get to know each other I will be perfectly normal I swear.
    10. It drives me absolutely crazy when people say “elementary my dear Watson,” because in the book, the quote is ” ‘elementary,’ said he. ” It’s just such a typical Holmes thing to have Watson telling him how brilliant he is and just succinctly reply, “elementary.” And say no more. He did not say “my dear Watson.” So yeah. That’s like my #1 pet peeve for some reason and it’s not even an important thing LOL.
That and commercials where it says at the bottom of the screen, “real people, not actors.” Soooo actors are not real people???

  2. Aw this is such a lovely post! I always like reading facts about people, especially about people I know! It’s awesome that you’ve learned so many Spanish words! Can you have a conversation? I only know a few basic words and sentences in Spanish, haha! 😊

    1. Thank you so much, Oxria! ❀ Ahh same, it always helps me to learn more about them πŸ™‚ Thank you! It has been one crazy-awesome journey to say the least, haha. Well, I could probably do pretty well formulating a casual conversation with someone, but only in certain settings (like ordering food, asking for directions, buying something), because more than anything else, I know a lot of nouns and adjectives – only basic grammar. I also get nervous about speaking to native Spanish speakers because I know I'm not going to say everything correctly! I'll get over that shyness at some point.

  3. Awesome facts. Lovely post. πŸ’Ÿ
I love psychological thrillers though. They are my favorite genre. And its amazing how you’re learning Spanish through an app. I don’t think I could do it. Although I do wish to know more languages, but it wont happen if I don’t make it happen. 😏 I’ve been wanting to go to Guatemala since college, to do volunteer teaching, but I haven’t been able to. So that’s amazing that you’re into visiting Guatemala. Enjoyed reading this and getting to know a little about you.

    1. Thank you so much, Gloria! πŸ’™ Oh that’s cool! Honestly, I should watch a few more before I decide to give them up for good – I was just pretty scarred by the first one. πŸ˜‚
It is so much fun learning Spanish on Memrise – and the app is free! I definitely recommend it πŸ™‚ They have I think 15 different languages available to learn!
There are definitely a lot of things like that to do in Guatemala, which I think is awesome! I’d love to do the same πŸ™‚ Thanks again, Gloria!

      1. Awesome! πŸ™‚ No worries – it was ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley.’ It was SO well done, which ended up being the problem, haha – so creepy!

  4. I just finished up a nine hour drive today and I could not agree more. There is something almost therapeutic about long drives! Also, thanks for mentioning plant nanny! I’ve been trying to drink more water so that looks like something I’m gonna have to check out. πŸ™‚

    1. Woohoo! You’re one of the only people I know who thinks that! πŸ˜‚πŸ’š *gives you a high five* That’s awesome. There definitely is!
Aw no problem!! That app is definitely what first got me motivated to drink the right amount of water daily. πŸ™‚ The only problem with it is that you can’t change the amount of recommended water, so be careful not to over-drink! I did, and literally got bloated ;-; Haha you have to give your body time to get used to the change!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Thanks for the tips! I just downloaded the app last night and quickly realized I didn’t have much time to water it, so I chugged 20oz and I can now understand the bloating issue. LOL

  5. I love that you want to adopt as well as have biological children! I’ve been watching a family on YouTube who have adopted and I love watching them so much. Also, question on Memrise, is that an app that you have to pay for? I had it for maybe two days before I deleted it since it wouldn’t let me do anything without prompting me to pay. I don’t know if there is a free version though!

    1. Thanks Pamela! I’ve been wanting to adopt since I was a little girl, so that has always been something I’m passionate about πŸ™‚
Oh… that’s weird! Well, when I got Memrise last winter, they kept encouraging me to pay for the Pro subscription, but I had complete access to all the Spanish courses (to learn new words and do classic review.) πŸ˜• Hopefully they’ve updated it since then! I’m sorry it did that for you!

  6. Loved reading this! And just downloaded Plant Nanny because I have problems keeping up with water. Aaah you’re so good at Spanish and I’m glad your hip and wisdom tooth healed. I LOVE road trips too and I like comedy but I’m all for Drama and Romance (my heart is hopeless for cliches okay? πŸ˜‚) I’d love to have three kids maximum but I’m happy with what God has in store for me. I really hope it’s manageable because I can barely tolerate my younger siblings 😭 But I’d be happy to be blessed with children in the first place – babies are so cuuuuute 😍

    1. Aww thank you! Yeahhh I had trouble remembering for a very long time, too, so that app really helped. πŸ’™ Thanks again! Haha, I love those genres as well, although more so in books than movies! πŸ˜‚ That sounds good! While I like the sound of four for me, I may very well change my mind at some point πŸ˜‰ YES they certainly are! 😍

I have terrible sinus problems, and I am especially sensitive to dust and unknown flying particles πŸ˜› So cleaning the house can be a problem for me at times. I hate it when I fall sick though, it just gets worse 😦

  10. Hey, Maggie! My parents just got back from Guatemala and they loved it. I hope you can go!
I’m an EFL teacher and I have a question for you. You have the perspective of a language learner. When you read/hear about language learning strategies, are you more likely to pay attention or try it out if it comes from a teacher or from a student? Or doesn’t it matter to you? Thank you for your time!

    1. Hello! That is awesome, I’m glad they got to! And thank you, so do I πŸ™‚
That’s cool! Honestly, I’m much more likely to try out learning strategies from a fellow student – when what they’re sharing with me has worked for them! But it’s also always helpful to have the expertise of a trained professional πŸ™‚ There are definitely pros to both!
You’re very welcome! Let me know if you have any more questions.
