Saying Goodbye To My Old Room

Hello there! Happy Monday to you โค I hope your week is getting off to a beautiful start. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have mentioned in a few recent posts that my family and I are in the process of moving! With that has come a lot of discussion about packing things, transitions weโ€™ll have to make, etc.

Iโ€™ve already had things in my room organized and put away this month, which means that when I actually began packing late last week, it was quite easy to do. However, as I began taking the decor down from the walls, especially the pieces above my desk, I realized just how much my living space means to me.

I love having a reason to tidy my room and then enjoy hanging out in the clean surroundings. It makes me joyful to know that everything is organized and in its place, and having the wall art just right is a blessing, as well.

I realize that by dismantling my current bedroom, Iโ€™ll still have all of my favorite decor to decorate my new room with … but it still made me sad to take down the workspace Iโ€™ve enjoyed for over a year.

The pictures Iโ€™ve shared in this post are of my beloved bookshelf and desk space just before packing them up. Itโ€™s bittersweet to know my living space wonโ€™t look exactly like this again, but Iโ€™m ecstatic over all the possibilities Iโ€™ll have for interior decorating once we move! Iโ€™m planning on browsing Amazon and Etsy, as well as a few stores, in the weeks to come. ๐Ÿ™‚

To end this post, Iโ€™d like to share how thankful I am to be able to have my own room while living at home. While the thought of sharing a room with one of my younger siblings wouldnโ€™t bother me in theory, Iโ€™ve realized that having a space in the house that is my own has provided me with solitude I canโ€™t find anywhere else in the house. Thereโ€™s something about spending a quiet evening in my room, relaxing and winding down for the day that absolutely refreshes me. Plus, it provides me with a space every morning where I can thank the Lord for each new day. โค

Thank you for reading todayโ€™s post! I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers for me and my family over our move. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you have a beautiful week ahead! Happy blogging โค

  2. I bet its very bitter-sweet having to move and say goodbye to where you’ve been living. It’ll probably be fun to get to rearrange everything and start fresh. I can’t wait to see what your new room looks like!

  3. I remember playing musical rooms at my childhood home with my two older sisters (: it was fun to share the big room over the garage with them, but having your own space is truly special!

  4. You’re gallery wall looks amazing. I wish could also have such a neat room!
I also moved a few years ago but it wasn’t too far from my old house. I kinda liked the change even though I liked the old house too, that could be because I was very young at the time and didn’t really care where I was living XD.
I hope your move goes smoothly!!

  5. Prayers for you and your family as you make this move.
I understand why it would be a little depressing as you pack up your current room, but (like you said) it is so exciting to imagine what you could do with your brand new room! ๐Ÿ™‚ Be sure to keep us ‘posted’. Best wishes!

  6. I’ve been thinking and praying for you guys since you talked about it. Moving has ups and downs for sure. Last year, we left our Florida townhouse and we lived in it for a little less than a year, and wow…I loved that place! Every nook and cranny. You really do get attached and it totally is nice to have your own space. I’m so glad you were blessed with that room. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. One day I pray you’ll be able to joyfully assist me in room decorating–in person! I absolutely adore your living space Maggie, but I know that wherever you go, wherever you and your family lives, your space will be every bit as comforting as this one–not because of the decor, but because your heart will be there โค
P.s. Do you think (after the chaos of moving and house hunting of course!), you could maybe do a post on the biggest tips you learned from packing and unpacking? I'll be moving into my dorm room late August and would love any pointers! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. That would be so awesooome! ๐Ÿ˜€ Thank you so much. Aww that’s true! It isn’t so much about the decor, but the effort and love I put into it. โค Thanks for that reminder ๐Ÿ™‚
Ooh that's a great idea! I'll definitely work on that post!
