Little Accomplishments – September 22nd, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Welcome to this week’sΒ Little Accomplishments!

Hello there, guys! Happy first day of fall! How have you been? Hope you’re all having a beautiful week. πŸ’œ

I have been working on lots of things outside of the blogging world lately, which explains why I haven’t been posting as much as I usually do. Going from posting almost daily to about once a week was a big shift, and also unintentional, as a matter of fact. However, I have been having such a good time doing other activities (including working on upcoming blog posts!) that I haven’t missed it too much, which is awesome, because at times, all I’ve wanted to do is blog, haha! (Many of us know how that feels.)

I have been doing my best to still comment on blogs most days, which has been enjoyable because I love reading what you guys write about. I know that I have missed some posts, and I’m sorry about that – over the next week, you’ll probably see me popping up in your notifications!

This Little Accomplishments was a last-minute post idea last night; I put it all together and had it ready for the morning, so it only includes the accomplishments that stand out to me most from the previous week.

Let’s celebrate all of life’s joys – no matter how small!

Last week, I…

  • started writing in a journal again. (I have been wanting to do this for well over a year, which is why this made me so happy! I went to TJMaxx a few weekends ago and fell in love with the journal I shared in the picture below. It represents me so well, and I’m enjoying recording my thoughts in it.)

  • found new nonfic books to enjoy reading. (Because I have been browsing my local libraries’ selection of books for years, I have pretty well figured out which sections I enjoy the most, and have fun returning to those kinds of books from time to time … however, I have found recently that different self-help books [specifically on perfectionism, psychology, happiness, and inspiration], which is a category I’ve never browsed before, has turned out to be quite a joy to read! I’m planning on sharing my reviews of some of these books in the near future. Pictured below are a few that I found at the library recently and can’t wait to delve into!)

  • began watching more ASMR videos. (Starting in 2013, I loved watching ASMR [relaxing] videos, but in the years since then, my interest in viewing them has diminished, then peaked, then fallen back down again, in a very uneven pattern. lol However, I now have three different people that regularly upload new videos, and they make me so happy to watch, so that has been what I do most evenings recently! If you guys are interested in watching some of these relaxing videos, I highly recommend GentleWhispering, Tingting ASMR, and Scottish Murmurs ASMR. xx )
  • fell in love [again] with Rend Collective’s music. (The music I listen to on a regular basis is always changing, and for some reason, I stopped listening to this awesome Irish Christian band’s music for a while. When I added their album to my account on Amazon Music a few weeks ago, they’ve been on repeat ever since. More Than Conquerors is one of my all-time favorite songs, and my newest favorite of theirs is Boldly I Approach! My phone’s current lockscreen is proof of my rekindled love for Rend Collective’s music, as the words on it are from their song Burn Like A Star! I made the lockscreen myself, by the way.)

  1. Oh, journal… I used to keep when I was in college. I don’t know why I stopped… I may start writing there, too, again.
The only thing I’m proud of is that I made a lot of progress with my thesis. Other than that, my week was a bit dull. πŸ˜•
Hope you have a great weekend, dearie!

    1. Writing in a journal is so much fun! I’m happy to have gotten back into having one again. πŸ™‚ Ah, sorry about having a dull week. Glad you made progress with your thesis, though! Awesome job. xx Thanks girl, you do, too!

  2. Great post, girl! πŸ™‚
I would love to start writing in a journal again, but for some reason I’ve not been doing it lately so the habit has kind of slipped. I’m doing my best to get back into it though.
Those books sound awesome! I’m going to have to check them out πŸ˜‰
And I understand what you mean about wanting to be blogging ALL. THE. TIME. XD I’ve been so focused on upping my content that my free time has suddenly vanished! I need to start cutting back down again XD
    Thanks for sharing! ❀

    1. Aw thank you! ❀ Yeah, I fell out of the habit when I started blogging, as I didn't have much of a need for one anymore, but I still really enjoy writing in one. πŸ™‚ They all look like great books so far! Can't wait to read them. Haha that's what happened to me when I did the blogging challenge back in May! I was ALWAYS working on blog posts and then wondering where my free time went. lol! my pleasure!

      1. You’re welcome ❀ Yeah, I get what you mean. That's great! I love that type of book. And haha that's true – the time just kind of disappears and you're left wondering if you really spent that much time blogging! XD

  3. It’s always nice writing in a journal, I haven’t had time lately, but I would love to get back into it! I also love non-fiction books! Most of the time, they’re the ones I gravitate to when choosing a book to read πŸ˜€

    1. It is definitely a lot of fun!! I have noticed that different people I know have started keeping their own bullet journal, and those look awesome, too. Yes I love nonfiction books, as well! When I was younger, I really preferred reading stories, but now I enjoy nonfic more. πŸ™‚

  4. I made lasagna rolls, and it took 2 hours haha! But they turned out really good. All of the steps I don’t normally do, while, never. I’ve been getting really good at writing blog posts up to two weeks ahead these past couple of weeks. It helps me getting ahead with the shorter pieces so I can spend more time on the longer ones. Way to go on all of your accomplishments, Maggie!

    1. Aw that’s great, girl!! Sound really good:) I’ve never had homemade lasagna rolls! Also, awesome job on writing blog posts. I’ve been doing that, as well; I didn’t know how good it would feel to have so many posts ready in advance! (I’ve been writing posts for this fall recently.) Thank you so much!

  6. Hey dear, how are you? We haven’t talked in so long and I miss you. How is your mom and her little happy belly? Updates of the littlest sister?? I hope to hear from both of them soon. I love your new journal. The print is beautiful and it does make me think of you. Not that you’re prickly like a cactus lol but you’re beautiful and colorful 😊 You made me think of me when I was 16. I didn’t go on any vacation and all of the adults were working so my Summer days (we have 3 months of vacation) would be spent at home, reading. I would take 2 buses each way and go to the library once a week or so. I would bring 5 fiction books that I would randomly choose (no Goodreads or knowledge of what was the hype then 😊) and then I would go by the non-fiction section and grab 5 more. Usually health, history, psychology or general knowledge. I would then devour them. Such great memories. I hope you’re happy and having fun. Hugs and kisses and my love to your whole family. ❀️

    1. Aw hi, Cheila πŸ™‚ it’s sooo nice to hear from you! My mom is doing well, thank you so much for asking. The baby has been going through a growth spurt lately, so my mom has been uncomfortable at times, but overall, the pregnancy is going smoothly. Elizabeth is doing great! She has recently started babbling more, and watching her try to talk to us is the cutest thing ever. ❀ haha your comment about the journal made me laugh! Glad you like it; I love the cover, as well. Catching up on reading over the summer is always a blast!! Your staycations (lol) to read sounds more wonderful than going places, honestly, haha. I appreciate being able to browse Goodreads is very helpful at times, but just plain browsing the library shelves is my favorite way to find books. I've been doing it for so long, it just comes easily to me. I love all of those non-fiction topics you mentioned! (I've found that I love most, actually) I am happy, and I hope that you have been, too πŸ™‚ hugs to you, Cheila xx ❀

      1. Thank you so much for answering, my dear. So good to hear from you. I’m so glad your mom and your baby, baby sister (hahaha you have 2 baby sisters now, you will have your hands full) are doing well. I’m sorry Valerie is a bit uncomfortable, I hope it’s temporary. But I’m sure she doesn’t mind at all, knowing that mini lady is growing into a chubby little baby. Who’s naming her? Rui was 6 but got the chance to name his little brother which makes me totally jealous πŸ™‚

Despite my TBR list I also love to browse library shelves and choose books just because. Even though I read many kindle books these days, I also pick them without reading about the author or blurb, I just pick what I think I might like, from whatever is free at the moment.

I’m actually writing to you from a library. I don’t have to work until 2.30 p.m (it’s 10.30 a.m) and I’m working on my computer at the library next to work. So quiet and peaceful and I love being surrounded by books. Library is also a round building and made of glass, so I can look outside and there’s plenty of natural light. Sorry for the super long comment. I got excited. πŸ™‚ ❀

      2. Aw you’re welcome! I’m happy to respond to your comments. Yes I definitely will!! So glad they’re sisters haha, I already have two brothers on my hands, lol!!! My parents are deciding on the name, but we keep having open discussions about it because they want all of us to love the name. πŸ™‚ haha aww that’s so cute that 6-year-old Rui got to name his little brother! I haven’t gotten to name any of my siblings, but I almost chose Samuel’s middle name. haha

Yeah, I love browsing books like that, as well! I think I’d enjoy reading e-books more if they didn’t cost so much, and it’s hard for me to find good, cheap e-book deals.

That’s so cool that you commented back from the library haha! I love working in my library, as well. It’s the perfect place to research for stories! Your library sounds beautiful. Mine doesn’t have a great view, but the books and setup inside make up for it. No worries! I love long comments. I hope you have a great Thursday!! ❀

  7. Tell me how live original is πŸ™‚ I’ve been meaning to purchase that book. Last weekend, I went to an art exhibit with a friend which was pretty cool, a taco night at my church and went to my friend’s birthday brunch. This week besides school work, I’ve been staying consistent on working out.
