Hello, September! | Positivity and Reflection

Hey everyone! How is your day going? I pray that your September has gotten off to a beautiful start!

It feels like only yesterday that I posted last month’s welcome post. August definitely flew by faster for me than July did! These past 31 days, I busied myself with my first five weeks of my senior year, went on a few weekend trips with my family, and did lots of other miscellaneous things (especially piano!) which I mentioned in different Little Accomplishments posts. I really enjoyed August (as you could see from yesterday’s post), and I hope that September is as enjoyable, too!

How was your August? And do you have anything fun planned for September? Definitely let me know in the comments below!

For this post, I’m going to list what I got done in the blogging world recently and list what I hope to do in September. Let’s jump right into this!

Blogging Accomplishments

This past month, I …

  • regularly commented on the blogs I follow.
  • explored the Reader and met new bloggers.
  • experimented with new types of posts.
  • created a more flexible posting schedule for myself.
  • posted when I felt motivated and inspired, not because I wrote it in my planner.
  • got 100 likes on a single post for the first time!
  • wrote some award posts.
  • interviewed more bloggers.
  • held my first blog party!
  • kept up with my usual behind-the-scenes work.

Focuses for September

  • Work On Stories. Right now, I’m working on two: the Mayan historical fiction novel, and a YA realistic fiction story I’ve been attempting to write for years. I’m going to further develop characters and plot for the YA story, and write out a basic structure for where I want the story to go with the Mayan novel. I’m so stoked for this! If you’d like, you can follow along on my writing journey on Pinterest, where I store lots of ideas and inspiration.
  • Rise Early. Throughout August, I started each day earlier than I have been for a long time, especially so that I can read my Bible while I drink my iced coffee. I love doing this and would love to do so most, if not all,
  • Play The Piano. I would love to learn a few more songs, and memorize the minor chords, too! Putting my major chord and scale knowledge to use would be pretty cool.
  • Blog Comfortably. For a while, I have stuck to a pretty fixed weekly posting schedule. It worked for me for months, and many other bloggers thrive with using one, too! But I’ve realized recently that I was forcing myself to do a post I really didn’t want to do just to keep to schedule. To fix this problem, I’m going to write posts on new topics, make new recipes and share them as I find them, and most importantly, write as I’m inspired.
  • Accomplish Things On School Break. My family and I are taking the first week of September off from school for Labor Day weekend, and also so that we can all celebrate Samuel’s birthday together!
  • Do Some Photoshoots. I’d love to start doing these with my little siblings again! I did multiple photography shoots last fall, but in the warmer months, I don’t like being outside (which is where I do photoshoots, because #naturallightingrocks) either because of the humidity or pollen. We’ll see how this venture goes! I might have to wait until October.
  • Go Through Pictures. This will take a while as I’ve been putting it off for about two months now. I have 1000+ to go through and sort!

Thank you so much for reading! I’m excited to see what September has to offer.

  4. I always mention that I want to learn piano yet haven’t made any efforts to do so. I guess it’s just not one of my top priorities at the moment but I’d still love to. So I’m excited and inspired that you are, maybe you’ll share more about it as you go.
Another month of amazing accomplishments in general, I’m sure September will be even better✨ I’ve got a lot of plans and ideas I’m working on for the next few months.

    1. It is an absolutely beautiful instrument, and has been a wonderful learning experience for me so far. I wanted to learn for a while, too, and when I finally took the plunge, I had no regrets! I do hope you’ll learn someday(: xx thank you so much. I hope that you accomplish all that you set out to do!

  5. Congrats!! πŸ™‚ You reached lots of things in August! Well done! ❀ And good luck with your plans for September!
My plans are: write posts often on my blog and reach at very least one more follower cause I've got only 14; nobody is interested in my blog 😦
Have a lovely evening, Maggie! πŸ˜‰

    1. Thank you so much, Ann! ❀ I appreciate it πŸ™‚ aw! I have come by your blog a few times, actually, but because it won't let me comment as a WordPress user, and my Google account is old, I don't have a profile to use. I'll have to figure that out soon so that I can come follow you! I'd love to! Thanks Ann, hope you do, too!

  6. You’ve accoplished so much in August, I feel like my goals for this months are similar to yours for last πŸ˜€ I hope you’ll have the best, most produuctive September πŸ˜‰ Would you mind check out my page? It would mean the world to me! Maybe we can follow each other πŸ˜€
    Love, Mimi

  7. Its not easy to just achieve what you decide. Its hard to keep up to your commitment and achieve excellence.πŸ™‚πŸ™‚ You achieved what you decided. Hats off!!πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

  8. Work on writing Ch.1 and it would be great if I could get up to Ch.3.

Something that helps me is writing down blog ideas I get (although I don’t always write them down fast enough and then forget.) In my drafts I have blog titles, and sometimes I’ll search through and get inspired that way. Or, like you said, immediately write on something you get inspired with. πŸ™‚ It’s fun! I’m glad you’re taking this direction.

  9. Hi Maggie, your resolutions sound great! I think people should do more of what makes them happy. There’s always time for that. πŸ˜‰

I loved also the fact that you talk about your blogging accomplishments, as I have been trying to set goals for myself too… I read everywhere that we should stick to a schedule, etc, but what happens in the days where it simply isn’t there?!

For now I’ve been trying to write as much as I can when I feel inspired, so that I have to choose from later. Let’s see if that works!

    1. Hi there! Aw thank you so much! ❀ You're so right! We need more happiness in the world πŸ™‚ Best of luck on setting your blogging goals! Schedules can be very helpful at times, but when we make them too strict, it can cause unneeded pressure! Hope you can find something that works for you πŸ™‚ I've been doing the exact same thing! Write now, post later. That's working out pretty well so far πŸ™‚

  11. I like that you reflected on the previous month, and made goals for the upcoming one. This seems like a really great way to not only stay focused on your goals, but also keep a positive outlook on your accomplishments! I’m going to have to do this.
