Hello, July! | Goals Met and Still Chasing After

Hi guys! How are you doing today? I’d like to wish all of you a very happy and joyful July 1st!! It really feels like summer is here now for us in the southern United States; the temperatures are rising, random storms keep sweeping through, I’m very relieved when I can feel the AC blowing into the room or our van … haha, summer has definitely arrived!

As you may have already seen, I posted this week’s Spotlight Saturday this morning, and I wanted to do this bonus post along with it to go over the ‘now’ blogging goals that I mentioned during the May blogging challenge to see how many of them I reached, and how many of them I’d still like to reach. Haha I have no idea what the percentage of completion will be!

Blogging Goals from May

  • reach 400 followers. (Yes!! Thank you all so much!)
  • get to 3,000 all-time comments. (Yes! WOOT)
  • reach 10,000 all-time blog views. (Yep! Isn’t that crazy??)
  • finish up with the blogging challenge and get back to regularly scheduled posting (haha). (Yeah, and I quite enjoyed how normal my blogging month of June was!)
  • get my drafts in order. (Pretty much, yeah. I’m thankful to have more posts to work on over time and not be starting new drafts over time anymore)
  • do a better job of planning upcoming posts. (Yes! This is usually on a week to week basis, as I mentioned yesterday,
  • check out all of the new posts in my Reader daily. (Oh goodness, I have been failing on this one. But you have my word, I will and slowly am getting better about staying up to date on all of your awesome blog posts, guys.)
  • find a few new blogs a day to read and comment on daily or every other day. (That always ends up being a harder venture than one would expect, so I can’t say that I can check this one off. But I do try.)
  • write more posts on blogging tips, my blogging experience, etc. (Yes, I actually have, but I haven’t posted them yet! Sometime soon!)
  • interview a total of 10 different bloggers. (Well, I posted my ninth this morning, so not quite yet lol)
  • write more posts on earth-friendly topics. (Not yet but I need to!)
  • share a total of 15 different treats that I’ve tried, with pictures and the recipe. (Yes! I posted my 17th one this past Thursday!)
  • share some short stories and/or chapters of stories that I’ve written. (*sighs* Not any time recently. I’ve been putting all of my writing energy into blogging this year, and that hasn’t left much room for creative writing, unfortunately.)

I’m so happy right now! I got way more things done blogging-wise than I thought I had, lol. And as for the ‘later’ blogging goals list on that same post, I haven’t completed any of them (which is perfectly fine, as they’re all a bit of a stretch to reach in a month and a half, haha), so I won’t bother copying the list to this post, as well.

And now, to end out this post looking to the future and not the past, here is my list of July goals!

Goals for July

Blogging:

  • keep a nice post schedule in order (as the inspiration comes).
  • continue to bake and post recipes weekly.
  • interview more awesome bloggers.
  • go back to posting inspirational posts on Sundays.
  • organize behind-the-scenes stuff (pictures, drafts, etc)

Real Life:

  • continue to avidly learn the piano keyboard.
  • watch more piano lessons and tutorials on YouTube.
  • keep up with Spanish on Memrise.
  • focus on being patient, thoughtful, and attentive. (Read more about that here.) ❤

Thank you so much for reading, everyone! I hope that you have a beautiful day!

How about you?

What are YOUR July blogging / real life goals?

  1. Learning an instrument is so much fun! Are you having any difficulties with it?
I remember when I first started learning piano, I guess I was about 6 years old, and I didn’t want to learn the music my teacher gave me because I thought it was “stupid,” XD. I wanted to learn “real” music, (classical music, in other words,) not “baby songs.” But I wouldn’t tell that to anyone because I thought they’d just tell me I was being silly. My poor teacher couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t learning the music. Then she switched to a book that had easier arrangements of classical pieces, and I did just fine with that. I was so ridiculous as a kid, haha!

    1. It really is! At this point, I’m not struggling at all, but I probably will begin to the more I delve into learning to read music, lol. As long as I find the right resources for me, I should continue to enjoy it. Haha! Kids are very ridiculous sometimes. When I attempted to learn the electric guitar on my own a few years ago, the only online lessons I could find taught the blues electric guitar, not rock like I wanted, and I did not enjoy those lessons at all haha

  2. I don’t know how you do it Maggie. I am blessed to just get up the Bible verses and pick a picture LOL You do a great job with your blog. Congratulations on hitting so many goals. I embarrassed to say I don’t even know any of those statistics. But in the month of July my goal is to find them :):) YA!!!! tasty treats 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Margaret! ❤ putting these posts together takes time and effort, but I've been doing it for so many years that it comes quite easily to me. 🙂 Haha looking at blog stats is very fun, but it can become obsessive! I'm always trying to stay focused on content and not the numbers.

    1. Thank you so much! 💖 ahh yay!!! I’d love to watch a video of you! (I’ve been trying to film a video, too…it hasn’t worked out yet haha, but I’ll have one up probably sometime in July!)

  3. Congratulations on meeting most of your goals from May!!! I also love your goals for July, I am sure you’ll be able to tackle those, too 🙂 I was wondering if I could ask for some blogging advice! How were you able to gain so many followers in a month? I am trying to post a few times a week and reach out to other bloggers, but I am not sure what else I could do.

    1. Aww thank you so much, Shelby! 🙂 ❤ Sure! Well the biggest thing that brought in a lot of new followers for me was doing the May blogging challenge, because I posted every day (usually twice a day!) for a whole month. By regularly having content out, whether a few times a week or daily, is what keeps others coming back to your blog. Tagging posts effectively is a great way for other bloggers to find you, too. However, the most important aspects of all, I think, are to keep reaching out to others (through the Reader, mainly, but I also love finding new people by checking out the comments sections of blogs I already follow!) and putting out quality content. People love catchy titles, bright images, and posts that draw them in and engage them. It took me maybe five or six months to get where I am now. 🙂 I hope that helped! Let me know if you have any more questions ❤

  4. I just reached 100 followers on the 1st of July and wrote about my experience which happened to be the 100th post for Inside Cup, posted today ; ) . I’m close to posting 100 posts for my second blog, which is nice. Maybe see, if I can reach 50 followers for Peeking by the end of July. Proud of you Maggie!!! You’re so close to getting 1k followers!!!
