Thoughtful Friday | Little Life Updates

Hello everyone! ❀ This morning, I’m going to be sharing a bit of a ramble/thoughts post instead of something a bit more planned out (like I usually do, haha) because I didn’t have anything else ready. My beautiful planner works extremely well when I know what posts I’m wanting to do well in advance, but for days like this … there isn’t much help to be found.

I like to think that I’m a better planned and more organized blogger, and most of the time I am – just only when the inspiration’s there. During times when I don’t set as much time aside for post writing, and/or I haven’t pondered what to write about, I get really stuck. I like posting a couple of times a week, but sometimes that isn’t possible, at least not planned out ahead of time.

Anyway! I’m straying from the point of this post. Today, I’d like to share my thoughts with you in a tidy, as-it-comes-to-me list because I’ve had a lot on my mind recently, and I’d like to have a place to express them. πŸ™‚ I wrote most of this last night, so I didn’t have enough time to find pictures (aside from the featured image), but I hope this post will still be a joy to read. Let’s get into this!

  • I have memorized nine of the twelve major piano scales I’ve been working on for about a week and a half. Originally, I wanted to have all of them memorized by today, but that didn’t work out, so I’ll keep practicing them this upcoming week.
  • I finished reading Head in the Clouds a few days ago, and I posted my review of it yesterday evening! You can read it by clicking here. πŸ™‚
  • I’m already over halfway through another book by Karen Witemeyer (A Tailor-Made Bride), which I’ll probably also review sometime soon. Haha!
  • I found a great history series from the library recently, but I had to return them without even getting through the intro of the first one because I’ll need to dedicate more time to each country’s history and not read them all at once. I look forward to reading them one day, just not today.
  • My mom went to the OB/GYN yesterday and had another ultrasound done, and the text she sent me with a picture of my new little sibling warmed my heart so much! He/She has a beautiful heartbeat and still looks like a sweet little jellybean. It took me a while, but I have now been able to warm up to this precious child. ❀
  • I’ve gotten back into baking now, which makes me really happy! I want to bake at least once a week, not only so that my family and I can have homemade desserts around the house, but also so that I can blog about them weekly like I was for a while!
  • I didn’t get around to watercolor painting, but I’m planning on doing that today. I’ll have to decide what I want to paint first, though …
  • I need to go through my phone again and free up space; I always seem to be getting behind on clearing up apps and going through pictures.
  • My room and closet are a little bit messy because I safety-proofed everything yesterday afternoon so that my baby sister could come in there (she’s never able to because there are too many things within her reach), then yesterday evening I put everything back. It wore me out and there are still things that don’t have a place haha
  • Recently, I’ve been reading in Hebrews, Psalms, John, and Proverbs in my Bible. All four books have been encouraging and inspiring me, and I am so thankful that the Lord is helping me through their words. ❀
  • This past week, I planned out nearly two full weeks of blogging and that was an absolutely amazing feeling. I’ve been blogging on a day-to-day basis for so long! Predetermined post schedules provide so much peace of mind. If you have enough blogging inspiration, I highly recommend it.
  • Right now, I’m reading Hamlet for the fourth or fifth time (I’ve lost count)(I went ahead and counted, turns out it’s the third time who knew) and I’m perusing the CliffsNotes I own along with it. I fall more and more in love with this play each time I read it.
  • I’m thinking about trying out dinner recipes and sharing them on Thursdays. I have my eye on an awesome Terryaki Chicken and Rice dish Eva made not too long ago – every time I see those pictures, I get so hungry!
  • It’s getting hotter – and rainier – here in Georgia. I’m liking the AC more and more again. ❀
  • I’ve fallen a bit behind again in my Spanish learning, but I always seem to manage to catch back up again. I’ll be back to learning in no time. πŸ™‚

Thank you for reading, guys! How about you?

What has been on YOUR mind lately?

Happy Friday! β˜ΊοΈπŸ’–

  1. Oh it’s so hot in Arizona! But currently I’m in Ohio and the weather is 80 degrees… awesome! Great job on Spanish, and I hope you make the chicken soon!

  2. What’s on my mind lately is… well… whatever you call that feeling when something really bad could’ve happened but didn’t. Like relief but more than that. I had a bit of a scare yesterday with my puppy. Long story short, it looked like she could have had parvo, (which is really really bad,) but she tested negative for it, thank God. Just the thought of possibly loosing her, it was crazy scary. But after taking the meds and stuff they gave her, she’s back to running around the house like a nut. But like I said, crazy scary!

      1. Puts things in perspective when something scary happens, doesn’t it? It makes you realize how easily your life can be turned upside down and how much you really do need God.

  3. Woohoo! Yes, girl, blogging ahead of time is so awesome! Two weeks ago, I worked on blogging ahead and it has helped me so much through the moving process, and driving back 13+ hours to Ohio. Well done, on your accomplishments!! I still have some blogs done and scheduled, but I need to set aside some time to work on the next set. Have a great weekend!!

  4. Busy bee Maggie, always doing so much and getting so many things done. You always amaze and inspire me to do more myself πŸ™‚ To learn that much piano in such a short amount of time is an amazing accomplishment. What a blessing the baby’s sonogram is, and that you are feeling like you are about it :):) Baby proofing will come in double handy when the new little one arrives, and you’ve already done it :):) Yes, you will catch up on Spanish, you always do. I’m so proud of you Miss Maggie, and yes as always this was a joy to read :):)

    1. Haha well, being homeschooled means that I’m always at home, so I like finding lots of different things to entertain myself with. πŸ™‚ thank you so much. I’m surprised at how quickly I’ve caught on to the piano, lol, considering I’ve never had an interest in it until now. I feel like my fingers were made to do the piano LOL! Yes I was so happy when my mom sent me the picture of him/her. Thank you again, I’m happy that you enjoyed it πŸ™‚

When inspiration hits, I write down all the ideas so I can look back and plan some more future posts! I’m with you on planning ahead and scheduling posts, it’s the only way I can keep up with daily blogging πŸ˜‚

  7. Wow! That’s amazing progress on the piano!!! For some reason I think of Baby Jelly Bean as a girl haha. I actually had a mini freak out yesterday because I realized the end of the month is here and I haven’t planned out next month! I need to practice watercolors again, I am really only decent at flowers haha. And simple one color ones. πŸ˜…

    1. Thank you, Pamela! ☺️ hahahah I have been, too!! I’m hoping it is, but I’m promising myself not to be disappointed if it turns out to be a boy, LOL. I have no idea how July snuck up so quickly!! Same here; basic watercolor designs is it right now. Maybe I’ll go on Pinterest sometime soon to look for inspiration πŸ˜„

  8. Hey!
I found your blog through one of my other online friends, and I have enjoyed reading your posts! I like to hear other people’s thoughts and this post was just that. I have a blog myself, but I feel that its all jumbled together because I can never make sense of my thoughts.

I play percussion, and I need to know the major scales for my marimba/xylophone playing. I know five, which is pretty bad considering I’ve played for four years. It can get pretty annoying trying to remember all of them!

I am very happy for your mum, it must be very exciting for you! I have two younger brothers, but we are so close in age that I can’t remember life without them.

Where abouts do you live in the US? I imagine it would be getting hotter! I live in Australia, so it’s a lot colder than it was in January.

I really liked your post, and I will definitely keep reading!

    1. Hi Alexis! That is so neat! It’s very nice to meet you πŸ™‚ Thank you so much! I love reading these types of posts, too. 😊 Scales are hard to learn sometimes! The major piano scales have ended up being pretty easy for me, but when I attempted to learn a few major guitar chords a few years ago, I didn’t understand it at all, lol! I hope you get a chance to learn those scales sometime soon. πŸ™‚ Yes we are very excited!! The sibling closest to me in age is about four years younger than me, and like you said, I can’t remember life without him. I live in Georgia! That’s awesome that you live in Australia! πŸ˜€ yes it is quite hot here, haha! Thank you so much for dropping by, Alexis! I’ll definitely come by your blog later today. ❀
