Little Accomplishments – June 9th, 2017

What have you accomplished this week?

Fun fact: I kept up with a little note on my phone all week, keeping track of what I accomplished/nearly accomplished these past seven days, but I am finally, just now, making this post – on Thursday afternoon. I really have no idea why I do this. Maybe because the weeks fly by SO fast and I barely get finished publishing one Little Acomplishments before needing to put together another one??!! Anyway, you will be happy to know (at least I am) that I already have next week’s post started. It’s in my drafts. I will be adding to it. Blog planning is harder than one would think.

To sum up the whole of what I did this past week: I cleaned out my room, baked some more treats, and read a book or two. Let’s get into this.

This past week, I…

  • finished reading Fantastic Beasts. (It was a short read – only about 40 pages, or so – and I absolutely loved it! Reading all about all the creatures Newt has studied was so great. I’m thinking about maybe writing short stories based off of the descriptions of some of those beasts … what do you think? I’d enjoy that!)
  • went through miscellaneous papers. (I unintentionally collect paper, all the time – I think that’s something we all do! Every once in a while, I go through my stash, and this was one of those weeks. I also organized them and put them away where they all belong.)
  • reorganized the top of my desk and went through the drawers. (Many of you saw the new setup of my desk [if not, or if you’d like to see it again haha, click here!], but I didn’t do a tour of the drawers. At the time, there wasn’t much to see, but I decided to go ahead today and show you what they look like inside right now. Enjoy!)

drawer one – stickers, markers, a few coloring books, to-do list notebook, mini easel (for my phone), tape dispenser.
drawer two – miscellaneous papers, guitar tuner, signed music CD, a few empty folders
drawer three – scrap paper, homemade flashcards, pictures to go through and sort

  • baked a vanilla cake. (I featured this in yesterday’s post! It was sooo good and I’m so very sad that it’s already gone.)

  • made another new treat. (This one is a surprise for the next time I post a dessert!)
  • dusted my bookshelf and bedside shelves. (I’m always dusting or cleaning up something, and these two pieces of furniture were this week’s victims hahaha)
  • flossed for two weeks straight. (I don’t like flossing. It hurts my gums. I do it less than I should because of this. πŸ˜‚ But every time I go to the dentist [I had an appointment a few weeks ago], I am always motivated to start being consistent with it again. I’ve flossed every night for the last two weeks! Woohoo! [sorry, no picture LOL])
  • colored a few more chemical compounds. (These two – acetic acid and caffeine – were a fun challenge because I kept having to figure out which atom was which! Haha! And the colors turned out so pretty(: I’m planning on coloring another page from the adult coloring book I got, but I haven’t gotten around to that yet.)

  • made banana nut bread. (Lee over at Golden Pink Journal inspired me to do this after she mentioned eating some in one of her posts, haha!! I forgot to take any pictures because my family and I ate it so quick! #whydoidothat #neveragain)
  • retrieved lots of pictures out of my email and put them safely on the computer. (Woohoo! This is just the beginning of getting all the pictures off my phone and on to the USB drive where they should be. There are still 600+ photos in my camera roll, though. *sighs* Oh, well! Pictures are important to me, so I don’t mind:) )

  1. Your Little Accomplishments are really motivating. You are very organized and disciplined. I for one has not done much of anything worthy of writing about yet😁. I sure hope I will have my weekly blog ready for tomorrow ☺.

  2. You always have such amazing accomplishments for the week, very inspiring Maggie! I have worked out 3 times (I have fallen off the wagon here recently), I’ve converted my Pinterest and Instagram accounts to business accounts to help with my blog…and I’ve even created a Facebook page specifically for my blog! I’m still working through the switch from .com to .org and it’s frustrating me to NO end…but I’m pushing through! I hope to START tackling the obstacle of cleaning out my closet this weekend! xoxo

  4. I’ve successfully tested several recipes, finally got more chocolate chips, and made ribs more the first time ever. All of those are cooking related, lol!
    I also collect random papers, but most of them have random stuff in them. One had the most terrible drawing of a Shire horse ever, I think that was from like 5 years ago?? but anyway after 5 months I forget about the papers, somehow find them, and sit in the floor for half an hour reading them. Ha!

  5. I’m with Grace can’t wait to see what tasty treat you have in store for us next week. πŸ™‚ You got lots of stuff done! It feels good when you can look back and see all the stuff that you complete. LOL at collect papers, yes I think we all do this. I’ve done pretty much the same as always, except yard work is today instead of yesterday. It’s been raining all week. πŸ™‚

  6. Congrats on all of your accomplishments! I enjoy desk organizing! And I love stationary, when I was a kid I had a plastic tub full of paper, stationary, etc, kept the tub up till college, not sure what happened to it : (. I made a cake earlier this week, worked on blogs, and a few other things. Need to start packing for the clothes and things I plan to take with us. Happy Friday!

    1. Thanks so much, Angela!! Hahaha I was actually quite proud of how tidy I got my drawers; they’re usually where I throw everything 😱 Hopefully, they’ll stay in their current state for a while! Haha!

  7. Plain vanilla cake/cupcake is my favorite!! LOLing at the flossing. Flossing to me is like making my bed. If I don’t do it I feel like my world is falling apart, HA!

    My one little accomplishment this week was being more present. I volunteer at a nursing home, and after a our Bingo game I visit for a little while with one lady who has my heart! This week I made it a point during the visit to be more present mentally by not thinking too much about where I needed to go or what I needed to do afterwards. It’ll definitely be an ongoing intention. πŸ™‚

    BTW, I love the quality of your pictures!

    1. Aw thanks, Cheila! Well, when I first started this accomplishments series, I’d rough it throughout the week, taking note of the things I need to get done as they come up, and adding them to my list once I’ve completed them. Now, however, shortly after I hit ‘publish’ on the last week’s Little Accomplishments, I’ll start a note on my phone and think through all the things I’d like to get done in the next seven days. That usually consists of baking aspirations, room/home upkeep, my progress on Spanish learning, and sometimes phone organization, as well. πŸ™‚
