Updated Desk Tour! ~ June 2017

Updated Desk Tour! ~ June 2017

Hello everyone, and happy Monday to all of you! Like many other people, Monday is definitely not my favorite day of the week lol, but I like to try and make it as positive as possible. So, for today’s post, I chose something that I would really enjoy writing about and sharing with you guys!

Back in January, I shared a tour of my desk – you can check out this post if you want to see it. Since then, just like I always do, I’ve changed things up a bit. Some of the dΓ©cor has been switched out or moved around, and a few things I have removed for now, but the whole appearance of it looks quite different than it did back in the winter!

Woohoo! Isn’t it prettyyyy? I love all the bright colors that go along with each other – especially the pastel green. ❀ Haha alright, before I go on raving about my little writing space, let’s go ahead and get into the tour!

{My Desk – Summer 2017 Edition}

The first thing that I always notice, as well as anyone else who visits my room or sees it through pictures, is my Guatemalan blanket. I’m pretty sure that this will always be part of my desk setup! I can’t get over how much I love it.

A big bonus about this blanket was that it only cost me $3. However, like I mentioned in the first desk tour, I really would have paid more for it!

The next thing that one quickly notices is what I have on the wall – the ‘grateful’ sign I got at a local craft fair, my button collection displayed on a fabric-covered canvas that I DIYed, and the cactus print I got half-price at Hobby Lobby for $15. I’d share another picture, haha, but I keep having trouble capturing a nice one of just the wall! So, check out the featured image again, if you’d like.

Now I’ll share what’s on the top of my desk, from left to right. Here’s the overview.

Look at how the light is reflecting off the polka dotted box onto the top of the desk!! So pretty!

So firstly, there’s this awesome Trader Joe’s greeting card.

I found it while browsing the greeting cards section at TJ’s like I always do, and this is the first one in a long time that I’ve fallen in love with. I love the quote, how artsy it is, how well the colors go on my desk … and it only cost me a dollar! My piggy bank is actually propped behind the card to keep it facing the right way lol, so instead of being part of the dΓ©cor right now, my poor piggy is a prop.

To the left of the card/bank are my notebooks. There’s my prayer journal, a regular journal that I write in occasionally, and the two notebooks where I record thoughts and happenings from every day, which I’ve been doing since 2012! That means that if you gave me any random date, from January ’12 to the present, I could tell you exactly what I was up to on that date. Cool, huh? Ahah I think it’s pretty cool.

Let’s move on.

This neat-designed box is where I keep writing utensils, card games, rubber bands, and any other random things sitting around on my desk. It was half-price at Hobby Lobby last summer, so I got it for only $15! On top of this box is quite possibly my favorite picture of all time; it’s from the day I met my favorite band, Leeland. They were the nicest people ever – I’m serious! If you’ve never listened to their music, please do now. Click here.

Next up is this little corner of different things. We have an inspiring quote from Twelfth Night that I copied down last year, bookmarks and decorative pencils, my whale mug which you’ll be able to see better in the next picture, and my tiny ‘dream big’ sign. The irony of this inspirational block never fails to crack me up. You can also see my Leeland albums propped up against the desk stuff box, but one of my albums by them isn’t even on the desk, as it’s flimsy and made of cardboard, lol.

Now we have the next little space on my desk. There’s the whale mug you got a sneak peek of a moment ago; it’s where I keep my hair ties, as I need easy access to them at all times. I’m always reaching for one, it’s crazy, haha! I also have my ‘laugh often’ plate set here, which my mom gave me a couple years ago. I usually keep little things in it, but when I do, I’m not able to read the message inside, so I’m keeping it empty for now. Finally, leaning up against the wall, you will see my new planner! Ahhh I’m so excited to share it with you guys!

The summer-y artwork is beautiful, and the layout is fantastic … but the best thing about it is that it’s one of those planners where you fill in which month it is.

So, if I were to use it for the month of June, but then take a break with using it for a month or two, it’s no big deal! (I tend to use planners in an on-and-off sort of way, so this one’s perfect for me.) I don’t know how I’ll feel about writing in it in the winter months, as it is sooo #summervibes , but hey, I can just spend the cold season summer dreamin’!

The last thing I’ll share for this desk tour is the rest of what’s on my desk; the right side, which is where I charge my electronics and have other things in easy reach.

First of all, the ‘beloved’ sign was something my mom won in a giveaway, then gave to me! It was painted by one of her dearest blogging friends, Hannah, who blogs over at Woven Beautiful. She has the most gorgeous blog ever. ❀ And her paintings are just as stunning!

The polka dotted box in the picture above is where I keep all of my paper recipes! (By that, I mean the printouts that I’ve collected so far, as well as the ones I’ve copied down by hand. The majority of my recipes are on my phone.) Once the box is a bit more full, I could do a post showing you guys what’s inside! But for now, you’ll just have to appreciate the pretty box, hehe. I got it for a few dollars from JoAnn Fabrics a couple months ago. I love it!

Last but not least (haha), is my tablet. It was passed on to me when my brother got a new one, and as I don’t have many uses for a tablet, this is my very first one … but I’ve really enjoyed using it since I first got it in April! I like playing a few different word games, and really fun car battle game, as well, but what I mainly do is Minecraft. My brothers and I, and our mom recently, too, have lots of fun playing together.

So, that’s it for my desk tour! I hope you enjoyed it. ❀ I had fun writing it!

    1. Aw thanks, Lise! πŸ’• Ahah mine gets cluttered a lot, too. When I clean it up like this, it will stay like that for a while, then get back to messy haha πŸ™‚

  1. What a wonderfully, beautiful and peaceful place to write. No wonder you are always coming up with such good material for us to read. Everything matches so perfectly! I love the planner. I use to live in one all the time but since retiring, I never use one. Now I just need a list lol. Thanks for sharing your space with us Maggie :):)

  2. I have a small piece of wood that has the scripture, “Man cannot live by bread alone.” I got it at at thrift store for under a $1. I love that style of planner! That will definitely come in handy! Loved the pictures!!! So cozy and inspirational!

  4. Your desk is so organised and beautiful Maggie!! I love all the cute inspiration pieces. I also really love your planner! It is definitely more summery. That’s cool that it doesn’t have set dates in it, so you’re free to use it however and whenever you want πŸ™‚

    1. Aw thanks so much! 😍 I love it. Yeah, no problem: it’s called Independent Publisher. Unfortunately, though, it has been retired since I started using 😦 so I don’t know if you’d be able to use it now. I think there might be an updated version of it available now!

  6. Hey! Your desk is so pretty! I absolutely love your blanket! I have one that sits on my bed usually, which I got for Christmas a few years ago. My mum made it in my favourite colours, and it’s definitely something people notice!

I like the pineapple on your planner cover ☺️ I have a thing for pineapples and cacti, I just think they’re so cute! I have a pineapple light, and I used to have a yellow cactus on my desk. My friend gave it to me, as we had a joke going on about butter cacti, and I have no idea how that started πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Your inspiration around your desk is really cool to. I am a big fan of quotes, and I have some around my desk and in my journal. I can’t say why I like them so much, but I do!

I actually did a desk tour on my own blog, if you’d like to read it. ☺️

    1. Thank you so much, Alexis! 😊 haha I loooove pineapples and cacti! That ongoing joke is so funny! πŸ˜‚ I love how she got you a yellow cactus to go along with it, haha. I looove inspirational quotes:) they’re especially nice on my desk, where I spend all my time writing and needing inspiration! I’d love to check out your desk tour; I’ll come check that out today or tomorrow. ❀️

  7. I love your desk tour, Maggie. Everything is so neat and organized while mine is somewhat organized in a “messy” way. haha. It’s great that you have several journals for different things. I never thought of having a prayer journal.

    1. Thank you πŸ™‚ I’ve organized my desk different ways in the past, some with more decor and writing utensils present than others, haha, and at the moment, I really like the minimal look! Having a prayer journal is such a help.
