Blogging Challenge – Day 20: Favorite Apps

Blogging Challenge – Day 20: Favorite Apps

Hi guys! I hope that your Saturday has gotten off to an awesome start. Thanks for coming by today’s prompt! Today, I’m writing about some of my recent favorite apps. (I don’t have an Etsy shop, so today’s actual prompt isn’t going to work for me lol! I hope you enjoy.)

You can read about what this challenge is here. And make sure to check out Cheila’s and Angela’s posts for today, too – we’re all doing the challenge together!

Favorite Apps

(all of these are available for free in the App Store. Not sponsored.)

Memrise. Since the end of December ’16, I’ve been learning Spanish with this app. I finished the first three levels and learned over a thousand words, and now I’m moving on to Spanish 4! It is, by far, the best language learning program I’ve used so far – and it’s free. I can’t wait to complete all of their Spanish courses – and I’ve even checked out their French 1 course, too, which also looks awesome!

Pocket Planes. I found this in the App Store a year or two ago, and not only is it a fun, addictive game – you can fly your little planes all over the world! – it has also taught me soooo much about the major cities in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East – which is cool! Up until this game, I wasn’t very interested in world geography, lol. I’ve unlocked something like 60 different airports in those different regions; I love learning all the different names! (Although the actual pronunciation of them is way beyond me.) When you start the game, you pick what region you want to unlock airports in, and it only gets more fun from there. The graphics are my favorite part; they’re so cute!

Plant Nanny. It’s what finally got me to drink more water every day! You pick what little virtual plant you’d like to grow, and as you drink water, you can log that progress in the app, which then feeds your little plant. Make sure not to go too long without drinking; your plant could end up dying on you, haha

Pinterest. I’ve loved this website since I was eleven years old, but as of recently, it has been so helpful to have on my phone while looking at recipes, as well as inspirational quotes, blogging inspiration, and mission trip dreaming/planning!

Dancing Line. My brother introduced this one to me on Wednesday! It is an epic, fun music strategy game (reminds me of Guitar Hero, which is my all-time favorite game) where you tap to the beat of piano music, as well as violins and cellos, to lead your trail through a maze. It’s kind of hard to explain. You should try it out! I can’t get enough of it!!!

Thanks for reading, guys! I highly recommend all of these apps; I appreciate each and every one of them. How about you?

What are a few of YOUR favorite apps?

      1. It’s quite handy because I’m spending pretty much my whole day away from home. So, if I have updated my WIPs, it’s easier to check the votes and comments using the app. Check it! It’s pretty cool!

  1. Ah you’re studying Spanish!! I was studying it before but my foreign language elective changed to Italian so I focus more on Italian. I’ll try to download Memrise as it looks super helpful. Thanks for sharing, Maggie! ❤

    1. It is an awesome app!!! (Although it’s turning out to be harder than I would’ve expected 😮 lol!) Once you have enough space on your phone, I really recommend it! I’m having to figure out how to get all the pictures off my phone, too.

      1. I totally will! I’ve been uploading them to one drive but now my one drive is filling up. I might have to plug in my phone and just move them all to my computer. I don’t want to do that though because I want to be able to see them on my phone! 😅

  2. These look like fun! I always run out of space on my phone (due to photos XD ) so I can’t really download apps there. I play on my tablet though, I do Geometry Dash, which is another musical game so you might like it! Its pretty addicting too 😀

    1. They are! Yeah, my old phone wouldn’t allow me to get any new apps, the storage space was so low lol. My current phone has been a much better situation 🙂 Ooh Geometry Dash sounds cool! I’m going to go look that up.

  3. Candy Crush, lvl 1362 been playing since 2013 haha my husband and mom wanted me to play, now they’re “mad” I’m so far ahead. I also use Plant Nanny, but since I don’t regulate the water I drink, I just grow plants haha. I use Amazon Kindle to read before I go to bed, and before I read from the Amazon app, I use my Bible app. Almost completed going through 2 Timothy. I should be able to finish the rest of the Bible by the end of the summer, then I’ll start again. I started going through the Bible in September, 2015.

    1. Oh wow! Level 1362 … that’s awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever been that dedicated to a game before haha! I used to play it a bit when I was on Facebook, but I haven’t in a long time. That’s cool about the Bible app!

  4. I really do have to get Memrise! But I’ll have to move photos from my phone to my computer. I have thousands of pictures on my phone right now. Lately I’ve been playing various “Find the Differences” games. It’s helping with my concentration.

    1. Memrise is great! I have too many pics on my phone, too. The computer won’t let me transfer them off, so I’m going to have to do it manually by email, which is going to take forever. I really like those games, too 🙂

  5. I have some major catching up to do! I haven’t been around for two days, but I scheduled posts. Anyway, I’m always on the look out for apps and that Pocket Planes one sounds good. Maggie, you won’t believe I still have to download Memrise! At the moment, my favorite apps are the KJV Bible (in French & English), LiveScore (so I can keep track of my football scores), and my Daily Prayer app.
