A Year of Strengthening Faith

A Year of Strengthening Faith

I’m holding on to You…

It’s all I know to do.

— Leeland, “Chains Hit The Ground”

So far, this year has been a time of learning for me.

In multiple situations, my trust in the Lord has been tried, and through them, I know that my faith has already been strengthened. And these situations aren’t even over yet! But I’m consciously making the confident decision every day to leave them in His hands. I know that He cares for me, and that He has a wonderful reason for everything He has me going through.

As well as the art of faith, I’ve also been learning the art of patience this past month and a half. For a long while, I haven’t been able to get along very well with my 5yo brother, Samuel. I’m finally accepting that he’s much younger than I am and that I need to stop expecting him to act older than his age – thus, I can do activities with him now with a happy heart and a smile on both of our faces. ❤

The Lord is also teaching me to be understanding of where my younger brother, Joshua, is in his walk in life … and with the Lord. We have very different interests and maturity levels, but I’m slowly coming to accept him how he is right now and to be understanding of our differences. It’s definitely not easy, but the Lord is helping me.

The last thing I’ve been learning is how I want this blog to be, and where I should be taking it with what I write. I want it to be about my walk with the Lord, as well as the different things I’m interested in, the things that make me happy. 😊 I think I have a plan now: I’d like to post a recipe on Thursdays, a Little Accomplishments post on Fridays, a post about the Lord on Sundays, and a post about anything else that’s on my mind on Tuesdays. I’ll stick to that as best I can. Some weeks, I’ll post more, and some weeks, I’ll post less, but as a whole, that’s what I want my blog to be like.

Just like in our game of hopscotch on Friday, I’m taking this journey of learning to trust in the Lord and have patience with my brothers one step – no, let’s make that hop – at a time – and in some instances, it’s two hops at a time!

Life and hopscotch can be quite unpredictable sometimes.

  1. Great plan Maggie, with your life and blog!!! My 2017 has been great, so far 🙂 God has and continues to bless me and my family. For that I am truly grateful. I was telling my husband today as we walked down a street in Savannah going to each sushi, God has really spoiled us, He gives us everything 🙂 God Bless you Maggie.

      1. lol…We live in NC, but hubby is stationed in SC right now. So, I drive down on the weekends, well most all the weekends, when God blesses us enough for that to be possible. We are about 45 minutes from Savannah. Maybe once every 3 or 4 visits, We will ride to Savannah, eat sushi at our favorite spot we found, it’s called Super Tastes. And we’ll get cupcakes and sweets from Mables or maybe it’s Mabels, 🙂 I thought about you today before we left. As a matter of fact, told hubby, Maggie lives in GA 🙂 he busted out laughing and said, “baby you do realize GA is a big state, it’s not just Savannah” LOL

      2. Ah! Okay. That’s awesome, though! Yeah, as a matter of fact, I haven’t gotten to go to Savannah yet. My family and I were talking about going this year, although it’ll probably have to be next year when Elizabeth is a little bit older. We live pretty close to Atlanta, and Google Maps just told me that I’m just over 3 hours away from Savannah, lol. 🙂

      3. Savannah was the first vacation we were able to take by ourselves. Every other one was a family thing, So Savannah holds a special place in our hearts. When we found out hubby would be stationed here, it was like, ugghhh, 7 almost 8 hour from our home. Then we said well God has always took care of us, it’s better than California, or Germany, right? lol. Then we got to looking at the map and realized he’d be this close to Savannah and said, see God put us to somewhere that’s close to our hearts 🙂

  2. I guess my 2017 has been pretty scary so far, as it has been for lots of people living in the USA. But hey, compared to other places, we’re not too bad off. Yet. 😉 But aside from that, it seems like most years are a mix of crazy, peaceful, good, bad, scary, joyous, and you just never know what you’ll get from month to month. That’s why you have to trust God is taking care of you; you’d go crazy if you didn’t. 🙂

    1. Haha, I agree; so much can happen and change in a single year. There are many times in my life where I wouldn’t have been able to go on without the Lord helping me. When I am weak, He is strong. 🙂 Thanks for coming by my blog! I hope you have a great day.

  4. What a nice little parable. The photos make such a nice addition to the story as well.
I read your “About” page and we have much in common. Jesus as Lord, a penchant for birds (I think I may have to post a photo of all my bird pins and link to you), succulents, buttons (I have some really old ones), and photography. I am a freelance writer as well as a blogger. I also read as if someone had threatened to burn all the books by next Friday.
You have a fun blog here. Thanks for stopping by The Fruitful Life recently and liking a post there.
    God bless you.
